'Marie Marie' is a song by American rock and roll band the Blasters.
The Blasters are a rock and roll band formed in 1979 in Downey, California, by brothers Phil Alvin (vocals and guitar) and Dave Alvin (guitar), with bass guitarist John Bazz and drummer Bill Bateman. The Blasters' energetic live performances gained a local following. They performed alongside other Bands like The Screamers, Los Lobos and others, and toured almost continuously in their heydey.
This song became an international success after being covered by Welsh rock and roll singer Shakin' Stevens, peaking at number 19 on the UK Singles Chart. Thereafter, Stevens asked Alvin if he would become his official songwriter, but Alvin declined the offer.
