Me...i'm Italian too! I remember a great concert of the Blasters here near Milan...miss them as one of great bands in the world! Dave Alvin was yummy at the time! I'm glad he is around now still playing and singing with a deeply and intense voice i never heard...
Saw the Blasters and Los Lobos as a double bill at the Coffeehouse on the UC Davis campus in 1983. About 75 people in the place. What a show! Incredible energy.
I saw the Blasters around ‘82 or ‘83 at the long lost, legendary Mississippi Nights in Saint Louis. A few weeks later, I saw Los Lobos at the same club. In-between shows, saxophonist Steve Berlin moved over from the Blasters to Los Lobos, so I saw him at both shows. I knew a local music critic and used to frequently sit with him. He would interview the artists in break, etc. I said to Berlin “Hey - I just saw you, pal!” He chuckled and said “I remember you guys! That was a great show!” I told him this one is too.
2022 here. I saw them play at The Music Machine in LA opening for and backing Bo Diddley back in the 80s. I’m nearly 60, have seen A LOT of shows. Bo and the Alvin brothers performed a heavy duty, unadulterated set of rock ‘n’ roll that to this day I can’t express the amount of gratitude and awe that I feel from that experience. It was like seeing your musical rock and rock great grandparents in the prime of their lives, and hearing what for me, I describe as the primordial roots of modern American music. Amazing. God Bless them.
Phil Alvin is a national treasure. Why that smile hasn't made it into any movie I know of is a mystery. In this clip I'm amazed that Dave doesn't unplug that Stratocaster by stepping on his own cord- which he dances around for the entire song, almost like he meant to do it. Such a fine band...they deserved a whole lot more....
Saw that concert on TV 1985. I thought they were ace. Some of the music that Dave Alvin's releasing just now is fantastic. All the best from Scotland, Dave!!
They call their music "R&B in cowboy boots" and you cannot give a better description than that. I have loved this band since I saw them at The Starwood in West Hollywood circa 1980 doing These Arms Of Mine by Otis Redding. Their music will last through the ages and while many below justifiably compliment the Alvin brothers what about Bateman on drums and Bazz on bass? That, friends, is a killer rhythm section who know the power of The Groove.
I like the Blasters a lot. However, I can't help it: Freeze frame at 1:57, lead singer Dave Alvin (or is it Phil?) looks a little like Frank Gorshin as the Riddler.
I first heard and saw The Blasters in the movie "Streets of Fire". Then I started listening to more music from them. Rockabilly and Blues and they do it so well.
Watching and listening istening to this in 2016, Rockabilly at its best! I came to know about the Blasters when I saw The Streets of Fire movie, a great film with great music. Aah, good ol' memories.
pongo esta cancion y la sigo con mi guitarra...... cuando hago el solo se me viene una adrenalina encima que me hace llorar de lo hermosa que es la guitara. gracias BLASTERS!!! 👍🏻
In alternate universe the Blasters are everyone's American Rock N Roll darlings with a massive following of the population and Bruce Springsteen is a talented but not particularly well known artist with a small cult following.
at the very beginning check out the guy in the cowboy hat and yellow animal skin print duster who turns and walks away backstage as the song begins...….it's none other than Stevie Ray Vaughan!!!!! Great song. You missed it, SRV!
A touch of boogie , some country and a whole lotta rock roll !!! Absolutely love it !!!
2024 Now whose still watching?
Me, and I am Italian ❤. I love these guys, since they composed a piece for the movie 'Streets of Fire ' ( one bad stud)❤

Long live Phil and Dave Alvin!! 2022 and still rocks
Probably the best electric bass performance ever in rock n roll history.
Saw him in 2010 and he was still gettin it !
Dave and Phil Alvin..... Doesn't get much cooler than that!!
No matter how many times I watch it, it's still soooo good!

You ain't kiddin. One of the greatest American bands ever. Should have been huge. They had perfect songs.
Ah Franz. I've been waiting for you in a Castle to discuss the Trial and your excellent taste in music that is worthy of a book.
Oh but he has, as the Blasters make two appearances in "Streets Of Fire". Very wooden movie but phenomenal soundtrack.
Much respect for Dave Alvin. A multi talented artist who can rock with the best of them

All the best from Scotland, Dave!!
I saw these guys back in '82 thereabouts, they opened for Joan Jett in Trenton NJ and they crushed it.They stole the show and I have been a fan since.

What great band. Real rock n roll.
Never heard this before. It's a great song.
cannot have enough rockabilly in one's life
I've had such fun at their concerts over the years. Such goood artists.
Love this band. I liked their songs Border Radio and Little Honey. I am from Austin, Texas and would get a good dose of listening to them.
They're playing at the Parish
I like the Blasters a lot. However, I can't help it: Freeze frame at 1:57, lead singer Dave Alvin (or is it Phil?) looks a little like Frank Gorshin as the Riddler.
I have been a long time fan. They are still rockin' live!

End of June 2022.
Holds up mighty well!
Awesome, Phil Alvin smiling looks a lot like Frank John Gorshin Jr., AKA "The Riddler" from the TV series, what CHARISMA.
I bought a ticket and went to the concert. That was my contribution.
These guys were great!
My all time favorite song played by my all time favorite band.
Ron...Check on Shakin Stevens version of "Marie" on youtube. I like his version better myself. But to each his own.
Best band EVER!! God bless the Alvin Brothers!,
Rockabilly at its best.

So very reminiscent of CCR but a few years later. Love this song and the performance.
Best footage I've seen, to date, of one of my B's faves - thankee mucho!

That song is so fast and it's over too soon!
