It's 1994. I regularly walk to the neighborhood grocery store to rent movies and games. They announce a contest where the winner gets a ton of coupons for getting the high score on a New Game -- which ends up being this game. Proud to say I walked away with one of those arm-length tubes of flavored popcorn and enough free rentals to last me a month.
@Sandman Slim Right?? Shit, where's this guy from! lol
@Sandman Slim Sounds like a mom and pop corner store.
@Sandman Slim It was a full-size grocery store, local owned in northeast Oklahoma. Bill's Discount Foods is long gone now but they had an impressive little video store section in the corner of the store. The guy that I most often dealt with at the counter would also give me photocopies of new Game Genie codes when they came out.
@@Rhys That's awesome! I miss little places like that and that kind of personal service.
@@Rhys photocopies? WHAT’S THAT???

Thanks for mentioning Tim Follin on the Genesis version! I don't even ever played that game, but the Genesis soundtrack is mind blowing!
I urge everyone who is into retro game music or prog rock to LISTEN to Tim Follin's soundtrack for Time Trax Genesis
I listened to it, & it's I N C R E D I B L Y J A M M I N G.
@@ExtremeWreck Indeed ua-cam.com/video/MozqL_HkHF4/v-deo.html
@@hemangchauhan2864 Wow, it really is amazing what he's getting out of the Genesis.
Do you know how to find soundtrack downloads etc for retro games???
ive always found it interesting how back then, you could immediately tell if the game was designed in Europe, US or Japan based on the in game graphics style. excluding cut scenes and stories.
yeah. even though this looks way better, the animations kind of remind me of Home Alone 2, especially when climbing.
It's hard to say with this game because Malibu was based out of California but they hired a lot of british developers.
@@CarozQH I would say that, broadly speaking, what applies to US developers also applies to Euro developers. Western games in general always had a look and feel to them that was distinct from the games coming out of Japan.
@@peterbard1815 I think what really differentiated US and Euro games was the music. If it's full of arpeggios, it's probably from over here on the demoscene continent. And if it's full of obscure humour that only about four people fully understand, it's British.
I thought Mega and Super Turrican looked Japanese
SNES Drunk: come for the game reviews, stay for the MST3K references.
Crooooooooow
The Master would approve.
I guess...I never played Metal gear solid 3 though
Tim Follin’s ONLY Genesis/Megadrive soundtrack. Man, I would love to have heard more of those!
I met Dale! I loved time Trax and told him. We went and smoked in my car and he was the coolest guy ever. I told him my dad and I watched every episode. He really is awesome!!
Pics or never happened
@@taghkrell haha. Not fair. This was like 10 years ago. Very special night for me.
@Sandman Slim ugh. I'm sorry I even said anything. It meant a lot to me and i was trying to share. Nevermind. Grow up

I have been collecting Super Nintendo games for about 18 years or so and I have never heard or seen this game before. I didn’t know it even existed. It shocks me that I still find games I have never heard of before. Thanks for showing me!
The snes drunk intro coming in with some POWER this episode !
You could almost say Nintendo Power?
Now it’s playing with power- SUPER POWER.
Yea I literally thought to myself that he hit that SNESDRUNK aggressively
There is no way the Genesis version will be better than the.......
"Tim Follin did the music on Genesis"

Wow, you should be proud of that Vincent van Torgo joke.

One of my first games for the SNES.
I'm from Germany, Capt. Darien Lambert was my childhood hero here in the 90s, and nemesis Dr. Sahmbi was hilarious. I still watch the Series for nostalgia purposes
Jeremy Jordan reference?!
I see, a man of culture & taste.
Bruh. I loved this show when I was 10!!! The jungle level looks like a more actiony flashback. I wish I had known this game existed At The Time!!!
@Sandman Slim brassiere?
Tim Follin's Time Trax Music 4 is pure elegance in music form.
My name is Vincent van Torgo, I paint sunflowers while the Master is away. It'll be a starry night soon.
Also I cut off my oversized knees while my actor was high
Yup. Growing up in Pakistan in the nineties, I remember watching this show after school. Never knew a game existed though; Pakistanis, barring that one fancy kid with a SNES, fell on Genesis side of the SNES/Genesis divide.
You poor sega-owning bastards.

The sprite of the main character looks like Charlie Sheen lol. Great review - I had no idea this game existed, gotta try it now.
He actually looked a little bit like Charlie Sheen in the show.

5:04 That's a rather cool section because the helicopter is smoothly tilting/rotating, but it's not using Mode 7 so it's doing this along with a full background layer (thankfully, as basic or missing backgrounds is one of my pet peeves when Mode 7 is used for boss battles and the like in a bunch of SNES games), as well as the nice perspective effect on the ground using line scrolling. It works well visually for me.
90's seemed so random, varied and fun compared to now in terms of media and pop culture. Imagine making the equivalent of a home alone hand now!
You are on of my favorite channels. Another great video! Keep 'em coming.
I'm going to add this to the list of games I need to pick up - shame that Genesis version didn't get a release though, the music and the time effect actually make it more appealing!
Play the gen version any way you can
Dude....you seriously have THE best SNES channel...I've officially seen all of your videos now lol
I just got this game last week. And your review is spot on perfect.
I was one of the very few teens in my classroom that loved the show and I enjoy the SNES game as well. Solid review SNES Drunk.
Time Trax and Early Edition were two of the shows that aired (locally) at the same era and I loved both.
Amazing video as always, great intro song, 9+/10
Early Edition was great, way ahead of its time
So the game time tax wasn't released in time...

WOOOHOOOOOO you mentioned my country!!!

Yay you mentioned my country :D. Great vid.
I loved this show as a kid (in Sweden, where it was also aired), I used to record and rewatch episodes on VHS. Never knew it had a game back then though.
"I'm not my father! I'm a COP! It's who I am, it's what I do!"
Oh wait, wrong show from the Prime Time Entertainment Network.
I agree wholeheartedly. A nice game based on a short-lived TV series.
The Genesis port didn't get released also because Malibu went belly-up. But the music was definitely top notch in that version alone.
OMG Chile got a mention on SNES Drunk!
This was oddly one of my favorite games as a kid.
Total length of video: 364 secs.
Total length of "SNES Drunk": 4.5 secs.

So Glad you brought up the Genesis version... the Follin's soundtrack for this is stunning.

They had other powers too. Like Captain America level physicality, super speed reading and the ability to memorize everything.
I want to thank you for making this video and hope you have a great rest of your day
I've only listened to the amazing Genesis soundtrack but I might play the game now if not for curiosity!
Tim Follins is greatest retro game western composer IMO.
"Vincent van Torgo." Brilliant.
About the grabbing thing, I prefer it that way so you only grab when you want to.
Great video. Was looking for a succinct explanation about this game, as I just found out about the Megadrive version with the Tim Follin soundtrack.
The Parallax-/Floor-Scrolling is pretty well done!
Omg be brought up Jeremy Jordan! I Wanna Girl by Jeremy Jordan was my favorite guilty pleasure back then haha 🕺🏻
Another game I never ever heard of. That Mode 7 effect on that helicopter is pretty neat. Thanks for the video, dude!
Looking back at the early 90s it amazes me how many tv shows I completely missed out on. I must have been too busy hanging with friends, playing video games or doing my homework/studying for school that I have no memory of this show. Looked up the intro for the show and it looks like a show I would have watched back then. It's like Quantum Leap meets Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman with almost a Forever Knight cool/badass vibe to it. Seriously, look it up. It's one of the weirdest, yet awesome, and most early 90s things I've ever seen.
The more I watch these videos, the more I realize the gems that I missed with being only NES/Sega during this time
Yeah! Same here
Crazy! I had no idea they made a game based on that show. I used to watch it every Saturday night with my dad, and was actually quite into it at the time. It's a show I've never bothered returning to though, and haven't thought about it in years.
I remember this show. And then I remembered another show with the same plot? So I found this perfect quote from an IMDB page (the year the 2nd show takes place is one talked about a lot lately...):
" Go figure, Rachel Nichols is the lead in a new Canadian made/produced sci-fi TV show called “Continuum”. I hadn’t even heard of the show until it popped up during a search I was doing for one of Nichols’ other movie projects. The premise isn’t entirely bad. It’s essentially “Time Trax” with Dale Midkiff from the early ’90s, except starring Nichols, who, yes, is a major improvement. No offense to you Dale Midkiff fans out there. All two of you. The premise for “Continuum” goes something like this: A detective from the year 2077 finds herself trapped in present day Vancouver and searching for ruthless criminals from the future. That detective is Rachel Nichols. She has to team up with some locals to complete her mission. Check out a couple of promos for the show below. Again, it doesn’t look too bad. The show recently made its premiere on Canadian TV,"
As a small aside, this is basically also the same plot (in a different genre) as the show 'Brimstone', and I really only mention that because that Kevin Smith show that came along later, 'Reaper' was exactly the same plot (but billed as a comedy), so I guess this happens a lot.
@@ChienandKun I got bootlegs of Brimstone last year.
@@Rayzorbladez This is why I love the Retro Community, somebody remembers!
It's funny, I just binged that show 'Evil', and in a general sense it kind of has the same overarching plot as well. The guy who plays The Devil in 'Brimstone' has a big part in an episode.
Hey, he finally covered it! I left a comment about it months ago. It was a decent show (if you enjoy campy serials like Knight Rider) and the game even got a spread in one issue of Nintendo Power.
That guy on the cover is the same dude who played in the original pet sematary
I used to love this show!! (Greetings from Chile)
I grew up with the show and the game on the SNES and they are both highly underrated. I met Dale Midkiff at a con in 2019 and he was surprised that they was a game when I showed him my SNES cart of it
great video as always thank you. that time slow move is pretty cool!
That moment when they talk about Chile...
I watched Time Trax, Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, and Babylon 5, but I do not remember Babylon 5 being a part of that block.
I remember seeing this game reviewed in one of my SNES magazines before the show even got aired in Australia. It's actually the reason I watched it.
The master appreciates this review.
For a sec I thought was Chandler in the game cover.
Great review! keep up the good work
The crop dusting comment got me. Good stuff
This looks good never seen it before this channel is so enlightening and actually makes me wonder just how many SNES games are there lol makes me want to become a collector
Used to watch this show. Loved the early UPN content while I was in highschool.
I was a big fan of the show at the time, and I remember reading about the game in Nintendo Power. I'm glad to hear the game was worth a play through.
I remember really liking this show and since then always named the time machine in Crono Trigger, Trax.
That is the most “early-90’s looking” sci-fi show I have ever seen in my life!!!
In syndication, airing after Hercules: The Legendary Journeys
Great review of an obscure piece of nostalgia!
The plot sounds like Demolition Man, but backwards in time rather than forward
The cover-art looks like the guy is still making sure his door is locked upon leaving his house.
He said Chile! Vamos CTM!!
somos el mejor país de Chile
Wow, a SNES game I've never heard of based on a TV show I'd never heard of. It's weird because I was into both Kung Fu and Babylon 5 back then and this show sounds like something I'd watch. Thanks for expanding my horizons!
Best “SNES DRUNK” intro yet.
Game looks solid but I can see how it can be easily forgotten. Good stuff!
I read the title as "is Tax Time worth playing?" and thought, jeez did SNES really make a tax filing simulator?
There was an SNES Banking cartridge made believe it, or not.

Grew up watching Time Trax, so when I saw the game, good or bad, I had to play it. No regrets.
Btw, I was wondering who sang "The Right Kind of Love!" I'm not a 90210 fan, and the only time I heard that song was on a flight to Florida in '93 😂
I remember that show. I would tune in for B5 and see ads for it.
I want an original Vincent Van Torgo. And more MST3K references! You rock, SNES drunk.
Finding the Megadrive soundtrack by Tim Follin is how I first found out about this game. Played through the Megadrive version once and haven't touched it since. It's an okay game. Pretty good even by movie tie-in standards but also pretty forgettable after a playthrough.
I found a copy of this game that was clearly a rental originally complete with manual that was taped into a plastic case and what I think I remember being stickers on the actual game itself. But it was dirt cheap and I was like yeah this looks cool. Luckily most people don't know how much super Nintendo games are worth these days.
I really liked Time Trax the TV show when I was a kid. The show Brimstone is a supernatural version of it.
