This is from the time when Florence, Mary and Diane were very young, very pretty and very happy! Its heart-breaking the euphoria ended so soon in the way it did!
The Original Supremes, the foundation of all Supreme line ups to come. These ladies are at thier best here, setting the standard for which girl groups will be FOREVER measured. Mary actually looks thinner than Diana here. And Flo is giving them the shape of life.
...This has always been my very favorite song by The Supremes! To think that my Mom was only 18, a dubatante, and just out of high school when this song was released in July of 1965. 👍🏽💯☺️
I would love to own that huge blown up Original album cover release with the original signatures of the Original hit making line up with their actual photos. What other group US or other did that? The Supremes were 2nd only to the Beatles and at times kicked them out the No.1 spot on Billboard Pop 100
I would think that this appearance was especially fun for the ladies in that they were able to sing LIVE using the Motown studio backing track as opposed to a house band or even their own traveling musicians.
Yeah their in house miss manners said her expressiveness wasn't cute. I totally disagree. Mary's eyes are dead and often times Flo's were too. Diana's eye's and smiles were like 4th of July, always.
@@blogshagify I second that theory, Diana had a somewhat bubbly, outgoing comedic personality, while Mary and Flo were laid-back types. Flo was said to have a deadpan, sarcastic sense of humor!
Thank you for posting these clips so that future generations can experience The Supremes. The Supremes performing their hits live is such a wonderful treat. Hearing their harmonies and individual voices without any others (no slight to the underrated Andantes). Love it. I really wish I could have been around to see The Supremes live, anywhere, but especially when they performed at the Copa and Lincoln Center.🆒
There are very few live performances of Nothing But Heartaches. They all seemed to want to forget it because it broke their string of number 1s. I don't think Diana ever sang it in her solo career, not even in Return to Love. It's a great song, though. Incidentally, the slow, classical arrangement of Stop! In the name of Love is beautiful.
pnyc1969-- I came up in the 70's/80's so I never really knew the Supremes in their hey day, but I can honestly say I've heard this song maybe a dozen times and I can't ever remember how it goes. The hook is very weak when compared to most of their other singles.
Oh, I just love this song. I think the hook is very strong. I actually prefer it to My World is Empty, which did better than Nothing But Heartaches, still did not hit number one but stayed in Diana's act to the present day. It''s interesting.
pnyc1969: Well I suppose it's all just a matter of taste. I feel the same way about Forever Came Today and The Composer. I've heard them several times and can't remember how either of them goes. Other songs like Stop In the Name of Love, I Hear a Symphony, and Where Did Our Love Go are instantly recognizable to me.
Forever Came Today divides fans. I love it. But I agree The Composer is fairly weak. Not much going on in terms of melody or lyrics, despite its title! I enjoy reading everyone's opinions on TY. .
They stood in the wrong place. Ross should have been under her name singing so both mary and flo each had a mic to really blend their indispensable sound much louder and clearer. Choreography is everything but not needed to stand away from the other. Thanks Gordy u AH
Let's face it..if Flo was the lead singer..The group would of sounded like just another girl group... Diana, simply had the spark..Her voice doesn't sound like anyone elses..
Mary, Florence and Diane made up the Supremes. Not just Diane. If you know the history of the group you'll have a better understanding of what you see as people "pitting" them against each other. (some shit Berry influenced) A lot of turmoil, bitterness and hard feelings surrounds the Supremes legacy. Sad but true.
So tired hearing Diana was the supremes. Flo, Mary, and Diana made up Supremes. Why would most of you want to erase them from the best girl group ever? Diana had presence I'll give her that but flo and Mary were just as important. Things went as they should have. I loved these three ladies, together. no one has touched them to this day.
My Mom always said: "Mary was the pretty one." ...Mom never lied! : )
Flo & Mary Rest In Heaven..🌹🙏🏼🌹Excellent BackUp 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 and I love the close ups on Flo & Mary! ❤️❤️
This is from the time when Florence, Mary and Diane were very young, very pretty and very happy!

Work it Flo, work it girlfriend! You marvelous, fabulous and hot!
Sometimes i don't see him all week. Love that line.Mary pure class.
MARY IS SO BEAUTIFUL
No lip sync here😍 Check out Ms. ROSS vocals at the end. Continued to sing after music stopped😍
I love live. I hate all this lipsync and auto tune bullshit of today. It is a travesty and rip -off
They were at their best here. Each gal had her own special "something," making the group very unique.
Its nice to see the girls actually doing some choreography!.. I also love Diana's Dr. Spock hair!
Diana was and is SUPREME!!!!!!❤❤❤
It's a Supremes Sunday
This. Should have went to number 1 a great song
ABSOLUTELY and so should the 2nd release afterwards......My World Is Empty Without You.
The Supremes were smooth in their day.
Look how beautiful and gorgeous they were..
They are just...mesmerizing!~

Sam the Sham it might still be somewhere in Burbank!!
What a marvelous collection of videos! Keep up the great work!
Wowwwwww they are my favorite girl group
They look and sound great.
Long live. Diana Ross and the Super Supremes
The Supremes. There, I fixed it for you!
I would think that this appearance was especially fun for the ladies in that they were able to sing LIVE using the Motown studio backing track as opposed to a house band or even their own traveling musicians.
- Yes I thought so too. Sounds like the vocals are indeed live. 🎶 👌
Miss Ross is so Expressive !
That's one reason of many she was the lead
Yeah their in house miss manners said her expressiveness wasn't cute. I totally disagree. Mary's eyes are dead and often times Flo's were too. Diana's eye's and smiles were like 4th of July, always.

This song 🎵 is So tru!
'Nothing But Heartache '
Pretty good singer's

@@@Noodleydoo , too complex for your brain? LOL!
awesome, Mary and Diane where good but Florence had the voice . love them and rip Florence
*were
She did have a strong voice, but Diana had a distinctive sound. Nobody sounded like her and still doesn't to this day! That's what makes a star.
When they were all one-Gordy ruined it all!
Yes, Gordy ruined the magic.
SANG MISS ROSS.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
billy moore Sing Flo and Mary..:their harmonies were great!!!
Three beautiful, talented ladies are singing not just Diana
I always like the song and thought it would have been a hit had Motown promoted it more.
It was a top 10 hit, maybe 11.
It was a hit. #11 on the Pop charts and #6 on the R&B charts.
❤❤❤

True…. But you know that DR considered herself the lead singer and the star of the group so she knew exactly where she wanted to stand. :(
Let's face it..if Flo was the lead singer..The group would of sounded like just another girl group... Diana, simply had the spark..Her voice doesn't sound like anyone elses..
Why do folk try to pit Flo against Diana and claim that she can even compete..Diana was the Supremes

The RTL tour told us who The Supremes were, thank you.
Diana not miced properly at all here.
