CFMOTO 700cc is considered a big bike in Asia , I’m an American in the Philippines right now and I’m considering this motorcycle and the possible release of the 450cc Himalayan. Motorcycles are King in the Philippines for personal transportation. Great Channel Old Man.

Did you ever end up buying? I'm in Ecuador (similar culture about bikes, most are sub-300cc, and 700cc is big). I'm weighing my options between this, the Svartpilen 401, or a RE Interceptor 650.

We have a lot of Deer where I live and they do scare me when out and about on the bike... I have a Chinese bike, it was relatively cheap, however you do need to realistic they you get what you pay for. I have had to beat some of the Chinesium out of it, and that is part of the challenge.

G'day Ronin from Australia, yes your right it doesn't matter what Motorcycle you ride as long as you have fun and enjoy the freedom it gives, the weather here in Victoria Australia is the wettest and coldest start to Winter in years snow down to 700 MTRS and yes we get snow infact more that the Swiss Alps, just 2 hrs from home is some of the best ski resorts, cheers mate, Neil 🤠. I agree with you 100% when it comes to so-called rider modes there were no such things as rider modes when I was starting to learn how to ride and even back in the day motorcycle classes didn't have any rider modes... Now I understand the reason manufacturers started putting rider modes to get more new riders but with more modes also comes more complexity of a motorcycle and things to go wrong. This is one of the reasons I love my old Harley's and Royal Enfields.

I was riding with a few guys off road and they were on their multistradas and GS amd Triumph tigers and i had my 2005 v strom, they were all talking about their different modes during lunch and how in this terrain they have this mode and that terrain they have that mode and i piped up and said, "yeah i know what you mean, when I'm in mud im in second gear and in gravel im in third, i have to apply various degrees of breaking force depending on the surface I'm on too." They looked at me like i was nuts!
I think ride modes came in for modern bikes traction control and ABS bikes because they have so much interference from computers they need to tell the computers what level of interference they need.
If you have a 650cc 48hp bike like me, no worries, but when you have a 130hp multistrada and you hit wet weather or gravel you might be in trouble.
Truth is after riding for 2 and a half years i think anything above 50hp is just wheelspin and nooners lol.

@@shanekeat7473 No worries like Ol' Man Ronin... we all get our share of people who look at us like we are nuts because we learned how to use the clutch, brake, and throttle to go through different terrain.

Thanks for the review; I'm liking this bike MORE! Though I'm not a rider mode kind of guy either, I could dig 'em on the CFMoto. I looked at their 650 ADVentura, and the modes (eco and sport, same as the CL-X 700 you rode) seem to be well designed; they were easy and intuitive to use. There's not only an obvious control for switching modes; on the ADVentura, the screen totally changes along with the name, making it obvious as to what mode you've selected. Sport mode has a round tach display, while Eco mode has a bar graph for the tach. Plus, the colors change when you change modes. That is a really thoughtful touch that CFMoto incorporated in to their ADVentura.
As for quality and long term reliability, I'd tend to be optimistic WRT CFMoto. Not only do they build engines for other bike makers; they make engines for KTM, a premium European brand. In fact, they have an alliance with KTM, an alliance so tight that their factories are literally across the road from one another. I believe that they make engines for Kawasaki too; if you look at the ADVentura's engine and compare it to that in the first gen Kawi Versys, it's DEAD RINGER! Other than the stamped graphic for the name, the engine is otherwise identical; the shape of the main panels, their placement, and bolt pattern are all the same. Oh, and the bore & stroke are the same too! If they make engines for Kawasaki, a Japanese company (and Japanese companies are known for quality), then I'd be willing to bet that their quality is good. Would one of the Big Four partner with someone that makes 'em look bad? HELL NO! CFMoto has been making engines and major subassemblies for the big bike companies for decades, so I'm optimistic about how they'll hold up.
As for looks of the CL-X 700, it looks good! It has a modern, cutting edge look, yet it's unique and different at the same time. What I like is it doesn't have the ugly, Transformer style looks that their Japanese counterparts, like the Yamaha MT-07, have. That is so UGLY! OTOH, the CFMoto has a modern, cutting edge, yet tasteful look to it. It's a nice looking bike that I'd be proud to ride and own.
While there are the political considerations (which I understand, BTW), one can't get away from Chinese products, including bikes. Even if one buys a premium brand like KTM, there's a good chance it has Chinese made parts in it, including the engine. Because of that, I'm not sure that I see the point of boycotting CFMoto bikes. Besides, they offer such good value (costing thousands less than competing products), how can any sane person overlook them? I don't know about anyone else, but I HATE throwing money away! I hate spending money I don't have to. I'm not one who's much impressed by names. I care about what something offers me. CFMoto offers a lot, so any discerning motorcyclist should give them a look.

It’s a little known fact that Harley Davidson is now manufactured in Asia. Sure, a few nuts and bolts might be made in the USA and they still claim “built in the USA” because they’re assembled in South America. However, the majority of the American iron is Chinese/Taiwanese. Of course Harley owners will argue the contrary all the way to the grave because they paid premium money for their premium motorcycle.

I never use eco-mode on my bike. I agree: modes are unnecessary. This is a good bike, and I considered it, but I've decided to go for an XSR700. Better quality and better-looking, at least to me. And definitely better depreciation.

I'm an old school guy. I learned cars and motorcycles without rider (driving) aids such as ABS, traction control, lane keep assist, back up camera, etc. I don't like them and don't want them. I purposely bought a 2001 Miata without any nannies precisely because I didn't want any "help", even though I can afford any reasonable new car. My only weakness is cruise control, but not the radar cruise control. Hate that. I like the CF Moto CL-X 700 precisely because it lacks a lot of nannies, but has cruise control. Kinda hate that it's Chinese, but I also remember when something made in Japan was considered crap. The CL-X has a few well known problems such as the cruise control not working correctly and some speed wobble but if they can clean up the little problems the Japanese manufacturers better wake up and get back to the drawing board or they're about to get schooled.

I think their smallest bike is fantastic! It undercuts the price of competitive Japanese bikes but as they get bigger they lose the price advantage. The 700 puts out 20 more HP than a Royal Enfield 650 so there’s no doubt it will be a good performer but they really need to watch the price.

Definitely needs an air hawk. I would guess since they have so many markets that they used those tires for a "one size fits all" to avoid tires for this country, tires for that country with crappie roads.
