  • The Cruise Control issue is back and CFMOTO has not gotten back to the dealer with any news. They don't recognize the Limp Mode code P06069-4 and this afternoon June 30th, asked me to send them my video showing the code flashing when I first stopped on the side of the New York State Thruway. That happened literally one hour after picking the pike up after replacing the the Reverse Gear Sensor Cover, Reverse Gear Sensor. Transmission Gear Sensor, Spring, Holder, Plug, Contactor, Bolts, Bearing, Oil Seal, Transmission Cover Gasket, ECU, and Chain.
I got less than one mile with the Cruise Control set at 80mph, which GPS verifies in only 75mph, and the bike went into Limp Mode with the flashing code P06069-4. After restarting the bike I switched to ECO mode and when I set the Cruise Control it also went into Limp Mode.
Additionally, since the change of the ECU, with the bike in ECO mode the bike has starting spitting, and loading up and slowing down either under engine braking or manually pops and backfires. It doesn't act up in Sport mode but the gas mileage has dropped enough to notice.
Finally, after putting ~only~ 7,800 miles on TWO sets of the stock Pirelli MT60RS tires since October 14th even though the bike sat in the dealer from April 1 to early June, I realized I wouldn't be able to afford to keep replacing them if I'm going to ride at the same pace so I made a change.
After reading many articles, positive reviews, and the manufacturer's website I went with a set of Dunlop Roadsmart 3s. The first day I put 120 miles on them and while they handled satisfactorily, I definitely felt the difference in vibration and road conditions while seeing my drivers side mirror picked up some vibrations. I wasn't thrilled.
The next day I went out to chase the rain on the New York State Thruway. I gave up after 160 miles because they were HORRIBLE!!. Every time I made contact with white or yellow road markings or the 'black snake' lines of tar paint they use to repair cracks the bike would shake.
The few times traffic allowed me to put Cruise Control on and made the same contact the bike literally slid across them as if I was trying to spin the rear tire. It was SCARY.
I lost all confidence in them and got off the Thruway to take the slower winding rural roads home. When I got home I double checked the tires to see that they were just manufactured in February and March 2023 so I will definitely be reaching out to Dunlop to see if there's any chance I got a defective rear tire.
I will not be intentionally be heading out into the rain until I get this sorted out but should be planning rides avoiding the Thruway as I can ride main roads with Cruise Control as long as it's under 70mph.
    I'll keep you posted.....

thank you for sharing your experience, here in Italy they said that with the 2023 model, they fixed the cruise control problems via a software upgrade!

Thank you for taking your time to watch and comment on my very short but honest video. I do appreciate it. I am currently a little more disappointed than earlier because the local dealer's CFMOTO rep was completely unaware of the very complicated fix changing the transmission shift drum and other parts that is being offered in Italy until I forwarded photos posted by another Italian owner on the Facebook Owner's Group. Why didn't they contact CFMOTO global who could have initiated the necessary steps to address it when I started complaining about it back in October?!?
I say disappointed because the bike is still functional, I just can use the Cruise Control at highway speeds. If there were photos of the upcoming 2023 all black version on their website back in October I probably would have waited and not put over 9,000 miles on it through the cold winter months of the Catskill Mountains of Upstate NY!! I still love the bike but the ability to rest my hands with the Cruise on was a big selling point for me. I'm currently at 11,155 miles and have had no other problems, unless you consider getting only 7,900 miles out of TWO pairs of the awesome Pirelli MT60RS tires that come stock. They are great tires that are phenomenal in the rain but just a little too soft for the full time road riding that I do. I simply can't afford to go through 4-5 sets a year.
Feel free to keep me posted on any updates you come across and if you haven't bought one yet PLEASE do not let this one minor bug steer you away from buying a sharp looking fun bike that still has no major complaints more than a year after its worldwide debut.

I've had the bike for 9 months and have done 10,000 kilometers with it. I have no problems with it and ride it in any weather I can recommend the Angel GT as a tire, it has super grip in all weathers

Thanks for watching and the comment. It's awesome to hear you're ~riding~ yours too, there's a lot of weekend warriors in my area that laugh when I'm out in sub freezing weather!!! As of today August 14th I've just passed the 12,000 mile mark and since you're in km I'm assuming not in the US and wondering what kinds of climates have you ridden the Angels in? Here in Upstate NY winter usually gets down into the 20°F/-6°C range and I just can't afford to switch tires every winter or have another set of rims with winter tires on standby.
I recently spoke to a few guys that swear by the Michelin Anakee even in snow, which I don't have to ride in, so I'm leaning in that direction once the Dunlops Roadsmart 3s have been worn through.
Have you had problems with the dreaded Reverse Gear Indicator issue?

Thanks for the real world experience. Seems like there are a ton of sponsered reviews popping up on everything CFmoto these days. It's nice to hear from a real user, especially one that is having frustrating issues. Seems your not alone after reading through the comments.

All motorcycle speedo, no what anyone tells you.. is off by whatever margin. Some more than others. This is why speed calibrators exist.
I checked for this bike, and it is not by much. GPS tested.

I just got the P06069-4 fault after setting the cruise at 80mph. Exactly same situatuion! My bike is just under 4k miles. It also started smoking out the tailpipe after it happened. Taking to the shop this week.

If it's raining I switch to Eco mode, I'm at 4k miles on the stock tires, thinking of getting the Dunlop battleax is what I think their called. Sucks about the cruise control, main reason I got the bike. Mine hasn't worked in 3 months, sat at the dealer for one of those months.

      @700clx2  Рік тому

I do appreciate you taking your time to watch and comment. I forgot to note that I also stay with Eco in the rain. I did roughly 500 combined miles in heavy rain and both sets of Pirellis were absolutely fantastic. I just can't afford to continue replacing them every 4,000miles at the pace I've been riding. I was trying to hit 10,000 miles today but my butt gave out after 360miles so I came up 58 miles short and will have to make it sometime next week as it looks like rain for the next few days. After a scary 160 miles in steady rain I have no confidence in the Dunlop Roadsmart 3s.
Mine only acts up above 70mph, and if you're comfortable at a little higher rpm you can keep it in 5th gear where 80mph on the speedometer will be roughly 6500rpm so it's not exactly teeth rattling but not as smooth as 6th and 5500rpm. Have you checked to see if the wire is scored/exposed and removed the copper washer from the Reverse Gear Sensor. It's a 5 minute job with no heavy skills necessary. I posted all the necessary info on the Facebook Owners group located here facebook.com/groups/1175475552872089/?multi_permalinks=1693514957734810

Federal regulations are plus or minus 10% on speedometers. Old regulation. They always error on the slow side. If they did not. Attorney's would rip them a new rectum for causing clients to get speeding tickets.
GPS is the only accurate method for motorcycle, boat, car. Run a standalone or simply run a gps speedometer on your phone. All bikes are running slower than what the stock speedometer says.
Almost purchased a a CFMoto 700. 2022 are on sale. $5,000. Apparently they cannot sell them. Got a Ducati instead. Glad I did, as a lot of people are having issues.
Combined with inexperienced dealership mechanics. It can be a losing battle. Better off learning & figuring out how to fix it yourself.
Looking at all the features. Looks like a deal. Every other brand with cruise control & all the abs stuff are are 10k+.
But of course big issue is sensors failing among other things. They have a forum.
Suggest CFMoto owners go to the CFMoto forums. Little tricks will be had to deal with sensor errors.
Like the sensor that fails that stops cruise control to stop working. Simply cleaning it regularly will help keep it working. Still want to carry a new replacement though.
As for tires you might want to try the Pirreli Angel GT 2. Depending on what model CFMoto 700 you have. You have either an 18 inch or 17 inch front rim.
Pirreli Angel GT or GT 2 come in the sizes used by both modals. Since the angel GT is a sport touring bike tire. Besides great dry capabilities. It also has great wet capabilities.
Every bike is different. Simply need to keep trying different stuff to figure out what works best.
The CFMoto forums can help on a lot of things.

Any update on this? got the same error yesterday. seems like + button is always on, got suprised when I noticed my speed increasing by itself, i hit the brake to deactivate cruise control just to be activated again by the bike itself. Hence, I think something is up with my RES/+ button. Speedo reading went haywire as well going up and down. Hope you heard from your dealer already and share here. Thanks!

Mine Runs Perfect. No issues, 6000kms on the clock. Once a fuse Broke , thats all. The Pirelli is a cool looking tire but lasts a max of 5500km. Replaced them at 4500 for Metzeler road dont remember the exact Name. Looking at all the bikes out there you find Tons of chinese electronic parts Even in the extensive motorcycles, so what?

I prefer bikes with less electronics. This is a nice bike, but I wouldn't trust Chinese electronics in motorcycles, especially in the rain/elements.

Thank you for the unbuyest user checkins! It's so freaking hard to find user insights about these bikes so it makes extra hard to determine how reliable these are and are they even worth their very budget friendly prices.
So basically as it stands right now CF Moto motorcycles start to break down after 9000ish miles and the repair service also lacks.
I thought so that it's too good to be true.

    • @700clx2
      @700clx2  Рік тому +6

Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I do appreciate it. I would definitely not say they start to break down. I'm just 60 miles shy of 10,000 miles now and there's no other problems with the bike. It still runs great and hasn't left me on the side of the road. There is a single known bug with the Gear Sensor that affects the Cruise Control only in 6th gear and only above 70mph. I live in the Catskill Mountains of Upstate NY with most roads being 35mph-55mph so most of my 9,940 miles are rural and my average speed is still only 50.4mph, with most of it being with the Cruise working as expected. It works perfect at all other times and speeds. This bike was first released in European countries and Australia where there are quite a few other owners who have this issue but it hasn't bothered them enough to push their dealers to get CFMOTO working on it. If they had, it probably would have been resolved by now. The bike isn't so powerful that vibration is a real problem, it's more of the issue having arthritis in my hands. If I absolutely need to take the Thruway I just set the Cruise at 68mph or if I'm in a hurry I drop it into 5th gear every 15-20 miles for a few minutes to rest my throttle hand then shift back and I'm on my way. In 5th with Cruise set at 80mph it runs at 6500rpm which is far enough away from maximum redline of 10,000rpm as you can see on the gauge that it's not screaming.
We need to keep in mind that almost all new vehicles have issues that need to be worked out and increasingly they are in the software that controls nearly all the systems. The problem with any worldwide first generation vehicle release is that manufacturers don't provide them to dealers or reviewers for long periods of time, so these bugs are likely to slip through the cracks.
Otherwise the bike is great! I might have waited for the 2023 model which is all blacked out but I would definitely buy it again and still recommend it to anyone. For more honest reviews check out the Facebook owners group at facebook.com/groups/1175475552872089?sorting_setting=CHRONOLOGICAL
If the link doesn't work it's called "CF Moto CLX700 owners"
If you look at this bike component by component you'll learn that CFMOTO has licensed this 650cc motor from Kawasaki, punched it to 699cc with a retune. CFMOTO also partnered with Austrian KTM in 2013 and are currently making the engines for several of KTM's bikes. The CL-X has fully adjustable front and rear Japanese KYB suspension, German Bosch Fuel Injection, German Continental dual channel ABS, Italian Pirelli tires. The Heritage comes stock with Spanish JJuan brakes, and the Sport model has the Italian Brembo 4 piston dual rotors brakes that several reviewers admitted was too much and unnecessary for a bike of this power. And, Brembo acquired JJuan in November 2021 I guess because why compete when you can partner with or buy out your closest competitor!? Throw in a 6speed transmission with a slipper clutch for less than $7000 and you'd be foolish to buy a use Japanese bike that doesn't come with a warranty that stretches from 2 years in the US, 3 in most European markets and all the way out to FIVE YEARS in Canada!
Half-joking I've posted this on plenty of sites with no complaints.
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate self canceling turn signals
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate gauge clusters that automatically light up if you're in a tunnel or riding under thick trees, AND gets brighter as the sun goes down
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate riding hands free or resting your throttle hand with cruise control that works from 4th gear from 24mph for small town roads and their speed bumps up to 80mph on the highway
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate Pirelli tires that handle great in the rain at highway speeds above 70mph, at your own risk, of course!! They just have a short road life.
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate getting better than 40mpg when non-ethanol premium is still $4.50 a gallon!
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate fully adjustable front and rear suspension systems
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you like having your inverted forks covered in dead bugs, slime, and dirt that will corrode and chew up your fork seals because this bike has shields over the exposed front suspension.
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate watercooled, fuel injected, dual ABS, six speed bikes that come with a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty
And absolutely definitely DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you like skidding out of control downshifting from 6th to 3rd in an emergency or race. The slipper clutch won't let you.
And here's a few reviews from outlets you may have heard of
      11/29/22 www.motorcycle.com/mobos/best-lightweight-entry-level-motorcycle-of-2022.html

      10/18/21 www.cycleworld.com/story/motorcycle-news/cfmoto-introduces-new-models-to-usa-motorcycle-market/
If you look around online there are still no other major complaints to be found. The most popular one is that people have lost power in the mid-range not surprisingly because they removed the catalytic converter and run an open exhaust without having re-tuned the bike. Another is that their Cruise Control doesn't work after replacing the stock levers with custom engraved levers from AliExpress. The problem there is that they are not exact duplicates so the bike thinks that the brake or clutch is being pressed which as it should, disengages the Cruise Control.
I hope that helps you to give this bike some more consideration before you chalk it up to being just Chinese crap. It is far from that and they would not have been able to build their partnerships with world class leading companies if it was!!

@@700clx2 Man, seriously, thank you SO MUCH for this detailed answer and so much information. I seriously appreciate it. I am currently doing my moto riding clases and this will be my first bike, the black 2023 model, so I am researching all the info I can. I pretty much heard the same thing - cruise control problem with gear indicator switching between 6 and 1 and the short life of the tires. However Im glad you are saying that mechanically it holds so far. Drive save and Im looking forward for more of your videos.
