Zombie is considered a protest song against the Northern Ireland conflict. Dolores O'Riordan RIP ( leadsinger) wrote the lyrics to the song during the band's 1993 tour of England in memory of two children (Jonathan Ball and Tim Parry) who were killed in an IRA bombing in Warrington on March 20, 1993. 😢😢😢
We should never forget this, or them !
It's about two IRA bombs killing two boys in England!🏴
She hated the ira as they attacked innocent people…
@@MrChristbaitthe occupation in Northern Ireland has been horrific. IRA’s retaliation was careless and horrific. Hopefully we have peace someday 😢
Rest in Peace Delores. Yes, "keening" is the ritual singing,
The yodeling technique is Irish Keening. It's used in mourning the dead.
Oh wow!!! Thank you !!! I was close and of course I see the difference, but now I know something new, thank you!!!!
@@SingwithEmmatoday Its a Celtic thing that goes back centuries
Delores was such a beautiful soul!
The emotion conveyed through this song never fails to hit, it really is a masterpeice.
30 years on and it still gets me every time
@@HereBeDragonsYT Same here
War is shit. Hello from Ukraine. I love you Emma.
Yes indeed only cowards do war.
@@davidmackeown9318 apart from those invaded and forced into war
Stay safe
The political rhetoric around wars is never a help either... im so sorry from the US.
@@davidmackeown9318Ireland got a democracy through war and now Catholics in government first time ever in the north of Ireland
In memory of two innocent children killed in the bombings at the time 😢
R.I.P. Delores 😢😢😢
Warrington bombing I adored Delores I bought a car the day she died and named it after her
In memory of ALL those who died in the troubles
DOLORES WITH O !
Goodness, this song always makes me cry.
Yes that type of singing is traditional Irish style. Land of SONG!
That primal impulse her voice triggers, that 'someone's hurt, there is pain' feeling... It's empathy, our most valuable survival instinct, that put us atop the food chain; and it's key to preventing our own destruction.
It's called keening.
Yea, this was the pre-autotune era. Voice, drums, guitar, bass. That‘s all you really need!
IF you have talent.
Still get chills after all these years
Yeah, it's a masterpiece. One of the best bands with one of the greatest vocalists of all time just nailing the performance and delivering every ounce of emotion and power that those lyrics, sounds and images could possibly convey.
It's a playlist song that deserves to be turned to 11.
For this performance, Dolores asked the drummers to hit the harder and louder he could.
This track was made in memory of 2 children dead in IRA bombing terrorist attack.
The singing style used by Delores is called "keening" a style used by mourning fanily members in northen Ireland
It’s Celtic - including the Scottish tradition…. ❤
I stand corrected , Respect to all celtic nations❤️
Zombie" is a protest song by Irish alternative rock band The Cranberries, written by the band's lead singer, Dolores O'Riordan, in response to and in memory of two young victims of a bombing in Warrington, England,
In fact I think the song is an indictment of the situation in Northern Ireland, as seen in the murals that appear in the video
@@sinelo3965It's about two bombs in England!🏴
I've been listening to this sing since it came out and it still has the same emotional impact as it did in the 90s.
Yes this song was written about a bombing in Warrington, they planted 2 bombs in bins outside a shopping precinct. 2 young boys were killed and a further 56 people were injured.
This song is very deep.
It's about the whole northern Ireland conflict and a bit about the easter rising
@@seamusbob3458 Partly, but it was primarily written about the deaths of Johnathan Ball and Tim Parry, the two children aged 3 and 12 who died in the bombings
The „heavy“ drumming is intentional, the snare hits should resemble or evoke the feeling of gun fire.
Please react to more cranberries.
I'm my memory, Their music and her voice was very unique. The most music title I like her is "Dreams" You may know the music also.
I really love "Dreams" too.
Absolutely a masterpiece this song is phenomenal and was a No1 hit in 26 countries, great reaction thanks 🙏
One of the best protest songs ever written and one of the best videos ever created.
She’s singing about the Civil War in Northern Ireland in the early 1990’s. She’s also keening which is an ancient way the Celtic peoples mourn for the dead.
Delores is one of The Best Singers of my/our time. RIP Delores O'Riordan 🤩👨🎤 -(Queen of Limerick, Ireland) 🍀
Truly a heavy, heartbreaking song. Yet the tragedy it details must be addressed. I commend Dolores and the band for using music to decry the darkness of war.
You should really check out the Bad Wolves cover of the song. Dolores was suppose to feature on the song but died the day they were going to record, the band has donated all the proceeds from the song to to Dolores' children in memory of her.
Emma, I am so glad you had the English lyric's on screen, it makes it easier to understand the message the band is conveying!
R.I.P. Dolores O'Riordan one of the most beatiful and particular voices om heart
The song is about 2 young children that died in a terrorist bomb blast in the town of Warrington on 26th February 1993 RIP Dolores gone too soon
The boys were killed in the 20th of March attack, that year it was the Saturday before Mothering Sunday here it’s said at least one was shopping for a card.
It's about the whole northern Ireland conflict
RIP the great Dolores O'Riordan.
The ritual aspic isn't yodeling but keening . A way of expressing grief at a wake in Ireland.
When art can be made that impacts humanity without the audience having to reach for it. I did a study awhile ago which was my introduction to these reaction videos to see if there was a common thread between people of different origins and lifestyles and possibly then a "root language" to be found in the species. This song is a specific one you can find on YT with reactions from every walk of life around the globe including language barriers and persons who are only experiencing modernized culture for the first time ever. The emotional reaction is the same in every single instance of this that I have seen including persons who are familiar with the song.
So the question of whether there is a root in humanity itself, is it the art itself or is it both and these artists are so entuned they can tap into that? Incredible though and unmatched song otherwise and every single thing about it is perfect.
Hello 👋 from Ireland 🇮🇪 Emma thanks for listening to this epic tune and a great Irish woman 😊
Snare hits are great !
React to zombie live in buffalo. The cranberries has a lot of good performances on stage
Y'a tellement de chansons de ce groupe que j'adore. Ode to my family, linger, hollywood etc....
this has always been a Masterpiece thanks Emma 💞💞💞💞💞
The first line in the song
Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
Johnathan Ball, aged 3, and Tim Parry, aged 12. Ball died at the scene of the bombing as a result of his shrapnel-inflicted injuries, and five days later, Parry lost his life in a hospital as a result of head injuries
it is my favorite from The Cranberries. I listened it a lot when I was teenager.
also Bjork is incredible
and nowadays is Aurora. And finally Ado is the best for me)
I'm overwhelmed with her and struggle with particular recommendation because I listen to a lot all her songs. it become harder to choose just one or too
From The Cranberries another one of remarkable songs for me i think is Ode To My Family
Delores' guitar is haunting as well as her voice!
Nice...bravo Emma!!!
Delores was an amazing singer! May she rest in peace!
One of the most impacting songs - and videos!
And she was serious about that message! One of now two great female singers Ireland has lost!
Excellent reaction, Emma. Thank you.
Dolores had a house built in Dingle. I had the opportunity to drive by last summer. We listened to all her music whilst driving. Her voice never gets old. It’s perfect.
The sky...what's up with you!
Emma, you are wonderful and beautiful. Please watch and listen to this video again. You will find the tears.
thank you emma very timely considering the world as it is now ravaged by war
Thank. You mate.
That tone in her voice is Irish keening. It’s a song of mourning.
Go and watch the NPR tiny desk version of it.
In memory of the beautiful Dolores who lost her life at such a young age, Dolores, Ireland misses you
Dolores death was one of the great tragedies of the modern era
Indeed and also Selena Quintanilla.
AGREED 💯💯💯
She was big mad, and it comes through in her voice.
On the same subject, I would also recommend "The House of Orange" by Stan Rogers
07:18 look drummer face when he hit row snare.
Royale Otis just did a cover of a song from this band!!
Emma if you really want to get lost in her voice try Dreams. It’s a beautiful song and Deloris is magical
I agree.
Emotional
I have never seen you before. But i love you ❤️
😘😘😘
Always beautiful! Thanks for the reactions!
Yes, Emma is so beautiful!😍😍
She was 18 years old when she wrote this song and was the oldest in the band.
Hey, Emma, you should listen to "Linger" by the Cranberries and after that you should watch the Adam Sandler, Kate Beckinsale movie "Click." That song is in the movie. It's a comedy/drama movie which I think you'll enjoy.
you are getting more beautiful ema
Listen to the live version.
R.I.P Dolores O'Riordan ❤

Wow, thank you!!! I didn’t know 🙏🙏🙏
Miley Cyrus does a live performance of this & it's absolutely electric. Delores approved of her rendition. I prefer it.....but i like this one too.

This was written as a anti war song protesting the faulkin war
💜💜💜💟💜💜💜💟❤🤘
RIP Dolores. Taken from us far too soon.
keening the dead and the loss
Hey Emma, great reaction. We have ANZAC Day coming up on the 25th April in Australia which is the time we commemorate the loss of life during WW1 and all other wars/conflicts since. I Was Only 19 (A Walk In The Light Green) by Redgum is an outstanding and emotional song which highlights the struggles veterans have with PTSD. The song centres around a Vietnam veteran. Might be worth a look.
