I love watching these teddy bear videos, I am 20 years old and have collected bears my entire life but only recently have i started collecting antique bears and it was your video with John at Hillary Pauley's museum that got me interested 😁

I hope we see more of John Port in the future. I love his stories and would enjoy seeing his vintage linens collection. I don’t collect teddies but when I hear John describe his passion for them it makes me want one too!

I'm so glad this is here - can't get into the FB group again, just like at Christmas. But i do so love the teddy bears and oooh, i collect textiles too. I'm saving for a Welsh quilt right now!
Oh John, my husband will be worried now...always buy what you like....I love all bears.......and you just gave me permission to add to the 100+ that have moved in over my 67 years on the planet.
My first solo bear teddy bears was a 4" tall 'Empire Made' (ie very cheap) golden plush. I was five years old and he cost one shilling, four week's pocket money and the first time I approached a shop keeper by myself. He is still with me, his excelsior showing through a slight seam split but still my cute Tiny. He's the proudest purchase of my life.

Rachel, I really enjoyed listening to John and Qais before you all had what looks like a yummy Lunch:)!! Like John Paul Port, I too LOVE quilts and I received one of my Boyfriend's Late Grandma's quilts:)!! My Boyfriend's Late Grandma LOVED singing stuffed animals of all kinds and she would display them as well as let us listen to them play:)!! I think my Boyfriend's Late Grandma lived to be 101 because she had a youthful spirit and LOVED collecting singing Teddy Bears as much as other stuffed animals:)!! I also agree with John that we should "always collect what you love":)!! My Boyfriend is fine with me collecting Teddy Bears and he knows how much I also LOVE my Dolls from my Childhood:)!! I LOVE antiques, but I can not afford them at this time. I LOVE to buy Toys and Teddy Bears from my Church Thrift Shop because they are fussy about what they take so there is no risk of bed bugs since the profits go to our Church Elementary School and I can find Teddy Bears for prices I can afford. However, I am praying that one day I will find a Steiff Teddy Bear at my Church Thrift Shop one day:)!!! As a Child, my Late Grandparents would give both my Brother and I a Toy Allowance in addition to that we got presents for Birthday and holiday presents:)!! So, as a Child, I had a Dollhouse with reproductions of antique furniture miniatures:)!! Sadly, when we moved many things got lost:(. However, I saved some of those miniatures, but my Kusan Dollhouse is gone. However, my Late Grandparents gave me a life long LOVE of nostalgia like Dolls, but Teddy Bears became a love as an Adult because my Brother got a Teddy Bear and I was never given a Teddy Bear. I guess I was more into Dolls back then, but now I LOVE Teddy Bears just as much as Dolls:)!! Thank you John, Qais, and Rachel for this fun video:)!! John Paul Port is also a good story teller in addition to a good Teddy Bear Teacher:)!!

You are so welcome, so glad you enjoyed this! For the future, make sure to make a will, and perhaps chat with a dealer ahead of time that can handle and sell the collection for you after your death. It just takes a bit of planning and it can be done. Make sure to communicate your wishes to your family. Hope that helps!
