This might help loosen him up because damn those kicks are stiff, but with training he can learn about transferring power via the correct hip movement and swivelling with his feet
I always thought an MMA fighter would have an easier time transitioning to boxing because there’s less weapons to watch out for. Boxers just gotta look for fists, mma fighters gotta look out for fists, feet, elbows, knees, shoulders, grabs and submission locks.
You can tell by his stance, it's still a boxing stance with attempts to kick. He is literally kicking as a boxer, his mind needs to change for his kicks to actually look like proper kicks. His balance is for boxing right now.
Good analyse ive did a bit of both. And what he is doing right now is keeping his center of gravity low. And for a proper kick u need to shift that to one leg to use it as leverage to twist your hips. Its basicly contra of each other . Learning to master both will have benefits.
Although I'd make the case that it's not the stance itself as the problem he can make this work and it's probably just because he's a beginner. Ilia topuria is an example of someone who has the stance of a boxer but can throw legitimate kicks though granted most of his kicks are calf kicks I'm pretty sure he can also pull off a high kick if he wants to.
This was from like 5yrs ago and yes he’s definitely not comfortable yet. Grappling will definitely help more than kick boxing especially in the clinch, 👊🏾🇳🇬🇺🇸
Edit: Anytime pro boxers sheet on MMA guys' boxing technique in the octagon (already apples & oranges), no words, just reply with this video 😂 Elaboration: Boxing guys sheeting on MMA guys is like an NFL kicker sheeting on Christiano Ronaldo because he's better at place kicking. As if Ronaldo decided to focus on 1 narrow aspect instead of many, he too wouldn't be just as good. If top UFC strikers only focused on boxing, they too would be boxing world champions, so 🤫
You can't compare a training video of a guy who clearly just recently started learning how to kick and he's still drilling it in order to get that right technique imprinted into his muscle memory with an MMA fighter's boxing during A FIGHT, where he is maxing out his performance potential lol.

@KrisBishop78 Bruce Lee had boxing in his top 3 martial arts even with him focusing on martial arts with kill moves. It's not about the gloves or being limited to just boxing that matters. It's about how the body mechanics emphasized in boxing allow you to maximize power and because men are back dominant (women are leg and hip) it makes more sense for a man to be really good moreso at boxing than kickboxing but good to be well versed in that as well. Maximum power and strength can be achieved from competent boxing as a man (because of being back dominant). Kicking also is more energy consuming. Jose Aldo has gotten really good with his striking ever since he focused on boxing after I believe the Yan fight. The best fighters in UFC have good boxing or a jab. Topuria, Pereira, Yan, Aspinall, Makachev, etc.
I was a high level amateur boxer in my teens and have been training muay thai for a number of years in my 20s. Muay thai definitely helped develop some aspect of boxing for me especially with stance switching, long guard, hand fighting and clinching.
Coming from Taekwondo ITF and Thaiboxing, I can definitely say that that has helped me ALOT in regular boxing. You kinda get an unfair advantage in every way, long as you can keep your own mixed style and not be forced to a strict traditional boxing style because what is that? There ain't no right or wrong, boxing is in its foundation "hit and don't get hit". So don't let nobody tell you how to fight cause either you got it or you don't, if you do you know how you fight. Otherwise, be controlled then but we're called to be independent thinkers as boxers especially. That's what I like about it. It's all about you. Now you gone have to fight everybody for that spot to own the right to express YOURSELF - like Bruce Lee. PS Of course others help at first, but then it should be just about "you vs your opponent". Not the trainers or the coaches own ego, know what I'm saying. And that's where the spiritual warfare come in... it's always active. But nobody can own you or is above you except God Almighty, in Jesus name. Thanks for reading :)
Ofcourse the huge paycut isnt worth it, but considerably how shallow the ufc hw division is, and how big and powerful joshua is, i think he can pull off a career switch to mma. With atleast a year of proper training. Doubt he'd make the top 5 but i can see him beating many 1 dimensional guys like derrik and tai tusava
