Would you guys please stop hating on these children? They’re literally infants. Stop it. They’ve probably only got a couple years of serious riding under their belts, and either way, these kids are great riders for their age.
I feel so bad for these horses. I had a beautiful bay mare when I was a young girl who I would run barrels on for fun. Never once put spurs on or yanked her head around by the mouth. I loved her too much to put her through that! Putting spurs on a child who doesn’t understand how to even control a horse is despicable. Poor babies.

But Fallon Taylor Starts her horses at age 4, and my horse is an American quarter horse. So, I figured I can start barrels when my baby is 4.

And they don't have a horn, but they do have a handle. Probably safer than our barrel saddles, doesn't feel good to land on the horn.

Maddie and Ben Bro it’s matters because if you’re cantering or galloping quickly around a barrel you have to hold the horn of the western saddle with one hand and the reins with the other hand so you don’t get thrown off to the side

Hazel_Nash it’s called Australia saddles. They are western saddles they just don’t have a Horn and also I don’t think their parents are going to buy a expensive barrel saddle they might just be trying the sport out.

DieGinny Firstly it’s an Australian saddle a western saddle without a horn basically and secondly,They love their horses if they didn’t they wouldn’t be trusted with one so they wouldn’t be barrel racing it’s obviously the parents fault to say it’s ok to use them and kicking and whipping is the life of barrel racing

sb0323 most are kids they don’t know how to use spurs and they love their horses I don’t think they would be doing that to hurt them it’s only for fun
spurs are not abusive they will be fine i’ve been on horses since i was 1 1/2 and all of my horses are fine
