This process worked for me for the EM. The only difference was the fifth screw towards the lens was keeping the cover from popping off. Unscrew that and slightly push the housing forward to give space to the cover for release. This video was very helpful, thanks!
I had to take this fix one step further because the film rewind button was stuck in, so I had to take the button assembly apart by removing the screw in the film sprocket that holds the tension on the spring for the button. After cleaning it all then a very light rub of oil then resemble and now it works perfectly.
Not sure if you'll see this but it's worth a shot: I'm having this problem as well. After removing the screw, are you supposed to be able to remove the button from the bottom of the camera? Mine is really stuck and doesn't really move at all.
This was super helpful, thanks for posting! Mine is having film advance problems, too, but the release button on mine is popping back up like normal. I've lost two rolls through it this week due to the film not advancing after a couple of frames. Gonna give this a whirl and see if it helps.

I am happy that you got the camera working. These cameras are workhorses. It is my dedicated adventure camera.
