    I bought that when they first came out years ago. I still have it and the flash and case, as well a handful of prints I had processed. They came pretty well, too. And those pictures you showed from the instructions are good examples of getting good 3D affects. The more objects you have in the picture at those distances, the better the affect. Such a shame they went out of business and I never got my last set of prints that I paid to have made by them.

    • @PrimeStudios

      I just always used the biggest aperture (the house/cloud). With black and white or regular color film your photos should come out just fine. If you add flash you may want to reduce the aperture to the next setting.

    • @PrimeStudios
      @PrimeStudios  3 роки тому +1

      If you plan on taking photos inside or at night time then you will probably need a flash. The N8000 only has a single pin flash hotshoe, so any basic cheap flash should work fine. here's a basic flash I own: amzn.to/2RmPBja

      I have another video which has a section talking about which film to buy: ua-cam.com/video/1hDyv7qhC_4/v-deo.html
      You don't need to use expensive films like Portra, but they can be nice. There are many many 35mm films to try and that are less expensive. As long as it's 35mm format it will work in the Nishika camera.

    Why does my nishika n8000 say “30mm quadra lens system made in japan” on the front of the camera instead of saying “30mm quadra lens system” ? Is there a difference between my nishika and the one on the video?

    • @PrimeStudios
      @PrimeStudios  4 роки тому +3

      I believe your camera is older than the one in the video. It's talking about the lenses themselves being made in Japan, the rest of the camera was made in Hong Kong. It's likely your model way made soon after Nishika took over the company Nimslo in 1988.

    so are triple lens cameras or quadra lens intended like for lenticulated 3D like yo uwuold see on a DVD cover sometimes? like does this also have "depth" with the appropriate viewing or is this just side to side motion like on facebook....

    • @PrimeStudios
      @PrimeStudios  2 роки тому

      Yes, originally you would send in your film to Nishika and they would send you back lenticular prints. But no, they did not have any kind of depth effect, at least not exactly. Your mind might try to fill in the gaps, but you're right in that they were just like some DVD covers.

    Bought one the other week but the advance lever doesn’t seem to be moving past a certain point? I thought maybe I’d need to hit the shutter release to go to the next shot but pressing it does nothing. Would you possibly know what the issue is?

    • @PrimeStudios
      @PrimeStudios  3 роки тому

      The camera is pretty much entirely plastic and it doesn't have the sturdiest construction. My only guess is that the camera has some broken internal component. If It were me I would try my best to gently move the advance lever all the way forward, sometimes mine sticks as well. If you do try to force it, know you do so at your own risk, but you might as well because you can't use the camera anyway if you can't advance it.

    • @PrimeStudios
      @PrimeStudios  4 роки тому

      The red dot appearing just means the light sensor thinks there is too little light for a proper exposure. It is based on 100 ISO film, so 400 may still be fine, but you'll have to experiment to see what lighting conditions will work for that film.

    If i take it on Portra 400, What setting of exposure should i do?

    • @PrimeStudios
      @PrimeStudios  3 роки тому +1

      The camera is intended to use 100 ISO film, but 400 should actually give better results as it's more sensitive to light, plus it's harder to over expose film than under expose. Just set the aperture switch to the biggest opening (cloud symbol I think?). Then point and shoot!

  • @unclericchie309
    @unclericchie309 3 роки тому +1

    does the camera require batteries to operate or the batteries are only necessary to work the red light?

    • @PrimeStudios
      @PrimeStudios  3 роки тому +1

      No, batteries are not required to operate this camera. the shutter is mechanical, and the aperture size is just controlled by a simple physical switch. The batteries power a light meter that just basically tells you if the camera thinks there is enough light to take a good exposure. The light meter doesn't actually control anything on the camera.

  • @UnrulyVisuals
    @UnrulyVisuals Рік тому +1

    Wait so whenever you take a shot do I have to advance the film two stops since it’s cut in half?

    • @PrimeStudios
      @PrimeStudios  Рік тому

      No! actually the camera advances the two spots with just one movement of the advance lever. It's just that film isn't quite designed to do that, and the camera is very plasticky, so the film can tear easily if you don't go slowly.

I think 35mm is perfect and I'd love to get a 35mm 3d camera - only thing is I dont know which one to get. I'm stuck between a Nimslo and this Nishika. Which one do you recommend if they are both new-ish and have been tested? Anything to look out for? • @PrimeStudios

      When the camera came out there was no such thing as animated digital files. The photos were taken from the film and made into what's called a lenticular print, which when moved back and forth produces the 3D effect.
