I forgot to mention one of the most important parts of this video: You do NOT need to go to an Ivy League college to achieve success (I'm not!). Different colleges are better for different people! Plus, your college does not define who you are. You should choose whichever college is best for you and then make the most of your environment! At Ad Astra College Consulting, we want to help you achieve your college-related aspirations, whether that's getting into college, getting scholarships that help you afford college, or anything in between. We never want cost to be a barrier to receiving our help so please let us know if you can't afford our services, and we're happy to adjust prices!
1:50 - 100% agree, 1580 is a great score. Take the time to sleep in (or use the time you'd put towards studying to build out other parts of your application that'll help you stand out even more!)
Thank you so much for the essay advice. I’ve really been struggling because I’ve been trying to come up with a unique topic but this really helped boost my motivation and made me realize that as long as I speak about something meaningful to me, that’s all that’ll matter, I really really needed to hear this
Hi! Congrats on all of your acceptances! I have a question. Does it look bad on my college application if my mom and I work at the same place? My mom does not own the place and is not the boss/manager.

heyy! if you're interested, my friends and i started a company called collegae ( collegae.weebly.com ) that provides affordable college counseling where you can speak to a collegian from schools (we have stanford, uc berkeley, harvard, upenn, princeton, and so much more) for just $20/ half hour! they can answer questions like what their essay was on, how they got in, their stats, extracurriculars, what classes they took, campus life/culture, and so much more! hope this helps:)
@@bethanytong2338 im not really your target demographic but i just wanted to thank you for saving the advertising for a video that actually relates to your company lmao
So, congrats. Impressive indeed. The formula for anyone interested is this: All As, plus multiple APs to run the GPA well above 4.5; Perfect or near perfect test scores; Be president of some clubs or organizations; Be a athletic standout and captain; Cure cancer or the like in prestigious summer jobs unavailable to the rank and file; Show some further passion in something or unique life hurdle or work 40 hours a week on top of the foregoing. Your application will then be seriously considered for the few Ivy spots left over each year after a majority of spots are taken by legacy applicants, applicants where a parent donated a building, athletes, and a few other special groups.
Hi! Both my science research internships were related to biomedical science. One was in medicinal chemistry, and the other was in computational biology. I worked at a research laboratory with a mentor, so if you can work under a researcher/professor I think that is very helpful! If you can't work in a lab, I think computer science/data science type of research is generally easier to do remotely. For example, you could conduct some sort of analysis on social media data that's available to the public! You can also read research papers to get more ideas! I hope that's helpful! Also, I plan to make a video in the near future talking all about my research internships and how I got them :).
@@MandyMade Thank you so much! My chemistry teacher has offered to mentor me, which is really exciting! I'm interested in food science and culinary chemistry and I'll work on specifying my research paper while also being able to remotely do it. This was super helpful :).
hello Mandy! you seemed to have gotten so many awards but the common app only lets you put 5 "honors", so i was wondering what did you do about that? did you just choose your top 5, or if you had more, did you manage to squeeze them in another way?
This was a question I had too, haha! I ended up including as many awards as possible in my activities section, and I just included my five "biggest" awards in the honors section.
All of these brag videos - and it is absolutely what they are - create unrealistic expectations, not to mention anxiety, for other kids. And what we don't know about this young woman is her level of privilege and how much help she got throughout high school and in prepping for college. She is obviously bright and seems like a nice young woman, but please do not use a student like this as a benchmark for your own high school and college application experience. Everyone is different. Everyone's brains work differently. And, there's literally hundreds of good colleges one can consider and which can prepare students for success.
