Pls I wanna apply to university of Pennsylvania under the school of nursing, pls I will need ur guildians and assistant, but I don't have sat or ACT, do you think I can still stand a chance?
Great video! It’s super true that you don’t need to have perfect stats or every AP class to get in. I had only taken 1 AP class at the time of applying, but here I am being Columbia class of ‘24!
Wait so in your high school career, you only have 1 AP course and got accepted if so what was that AP class. I feel that I’m below average of the students who attend these Ivy’s. I only did two AP classes, Honors Microbiology (Not AP), and like English 4 Dual Credit. But I have gone through Accel Algebra to Trig, Bio, PES, Chem, Physics. Also, I will Dual Enroll in General Psychology this summer. I maintained my 4.0 GPA
MrFly فلاي at the time of applying, the only AP class I had gone through was AP euro, since that was the only one sophomores in my school were allowed to take. I couldn’t take any AP classes junior year, and senior year, the only one I could take was AP calc, but I self studied for the APush and the AP gov exams. I have a full video on my channel going over my stats if you want to check it out!
This gives me a small bit of hope that I can still get in, however I think they look at each person compared to their school, which kinda sucksss bc compared to my class I'm not even close to valedictorian. I'm in top 10%. Congrats on making it in, and this def seems more realistic than people who get like perfect scores and make me feel like an idiot lol. Fav stats video out there bc it gives me the smallest glimmer of hope 😂
You definitely can get in! You don't need to have the title of valedictorian, top 10% is great! Just show that you are constantly working hard, challenging yourself, and doing the best that you can! Good luck :))
Hi, I really like your video and I am really interested in UPenn. Can you make a video about pros and cons of UPenn. Like the stuff you don't see on their website. Thank you so much your videos are so helpful
Hi, thanks so much for watching! I posted a video where I talk about the expectations I had for Penn vs the reality, which includes some pros and cons as well! Heres the link ua-cam.com/video/BTlh4AMtJCI/v-deo.html Thanks for the video idea, I definitely will look more into it!
Hi Lah’Nasia I would really like your advice on what I should do. I have the chance to take dual enrollment or stay at high school and take more AP courses. What would you say looks best on an application or rigor?
@@hannahannamaimai7565 Hi! I honestly don't know much about dual enrollment. I'd first check and see if the credit will transfer over to Penn because I took one dual credit class and penn didn't accept it. I'd talk to your guidance counselor before making any final decisions. Is there a way for you to do both dual enrollment and AP classes?
Would you recommend going test-optional this year if I'm a bad test taker? I haven't had an ACT score since 2019 (freshman year, it was a 21 ROFLMAO) due to covid, and right now I've only got 2 chances to reach 33+ before I apply in September. Apparently, admissions isn't going to hold it against applicants if they don't report ACT/SAT scores, however, I feel like they might expect better AP scores subconsciously. I got a 5 and a 4 on AP Human Geog. & APUSH (respectively) my sophomore year, but I'm honestly so worried about my AP scores this year (junior, taking 5 like you) lmfao. idek anymore this is stressful as heck
In all honesty, if I could've went test optional I 1000% would have! I agree with what you're saying, not reporting your test scores won't hurt your application. like i think it's better to not report them at all rather than report "low" scores. BUT test scores are just one portion of the application, so even if you report "low" scores there are other aspects of the application to make up for it. If you are getting good grades in your AP classes, I don't think you should freak out about the scores too much. Literally none of my AP credit was accepted at Penn, and I barely passed any of the tests hahaha. The scores you got sophomore year are GREAT, so just keep grinding and i'm sure you'll do amazing this year! You got this :))) if you have any questions you can definitely email or dm me
when looking at your application, the admissions officers also look at your school and they types of classes they offer. so like i wouldn't worry about not taking the same honors/APs as kids from other schools, especially if your school doesn't offer them.
@Alejandro brunner My ethnicity is Dardic (most people don't even know about this ethnicity). But wdym? I'll start my extra curricular activities from today, i still have 3 years, don't i?
You definitely have a chance! It's great that you're class president, but I would try to get a little more involved in other clubs and pick up another leadership role. You have time to figure it out so I wouldn't stress too much about it :)
I want to go to UPenn but I ended with a 3.3 last year :( are my chances ruined? I currently have a 4.0 unweighted and a 4.7 weighted as we just finished our first report card.
NOOO, your chances are not ruined! A 4.0 unweighted and 4.7 weighted gpa is amazing! This shows that you are working harder and improving, which is something I think they like to see!
If I have an average gpa in my freshman and sophomore year but good gpa in my junior and senior year will they still consider me. Also if I have good sat scores and ec's :(
I'm not an admissions officer (so take this w a grain of salt), but I would say of course they'd consider you. Like I said in the vid, there's so much more to you than your numbers. As long as you are working your hardest, putting 110% in all that you do, and writing a stellar essay, the officers will see that and evaluate your application accordingly.
Definitely! Most schools take a holistic approach and look at your entire application, not putting too much weight on one area. They also take into consideration your high school and the stats of your high school. So if you have a 3.3 GPA and you're the valedictorian of your class:1. thats amazing, congratulations! And 2. yes, ivy leagues will consider you without a doubt! There is so much more to you and your application than just the grades you receive :)
I live 28 min away from uchicago and I really want to go there for college I just graduated 7th grade. I live in a lower middle class so ig I don’t have as much resources as people in the upper middle class do. I would say I’m pretty good at reading because I got a 243 on the map test (map test is kinda like a sat for kids) I’m very bad at math and I have a very bad teacher. I’m falling behind in math and I feel like math is a big part in sat and act. Do you have any advice to get better at math and reading? I really wanna learn more.
Yes, I agree! Khan Academy is great resource to use! Here is a link for Khan Academy that can help you with the map test www.khanacademy.org/mappers The website also includes various types of math tutoring, ranging from middle school math to AP calculus, so it is definitely a resource you can use all throughout your educational journey. Good luck!! :)
Asia Coleman what high school are you tryna go to, you might wanna aim for a selective enrollment school and you can do it I’m considered low class but I got into Westinghouse selective enrollment
No, they aren't required. Some students get an interview and others don't, but it's not reflective of your application status. I think it all depends on whether or not interviewers are available in your area.
