I love how this video turned into a voyage of discovery. First Ricky realises that instead of loading a clap sample, he can just sample a clap. Later on, he realises he can create a drum pattern by hitting an object rhythmically with a stick. Then he "finds" the vocal sample for the track by talking into the mic. Next week's video: Ricky "sequences" the bassline alongside the drums by making friends with a bass player and playing together at the same time. 😆 Cool video! Outdoor music-making is very inspiring at this time of year.
Today I dragged my Push and Macbook into the woods to make a ‘similar’ video-jam with nature sounds, and oh my, it would be way easier with just an iPad! Cool sounds ! 🙌
12:05 - "Trim it; grab it; repeat it; loop it" 😆 The commentary when you leave camera and start talking to yourself "ohhh a pinecone"... This video was awesome!
NGL, that actually sounds incredibly catchy. This squirrels line is already sticking in my head. I recommend working it out to a full track and see how it performs in a live setup.
Lol I'm actually wondering if I should buy an iPad Pro for drawing and asked myself if I could use it with my synths to also play music, then you drop that video ! Thanks Ricky 😆
I’m curious what you are using to connect Digitakt and microphone to the iPad, and what you’re using for midi out. Is there an interface you would recommend?
I’ve stopped trying to sync my gear to Logic (on Mac OS) because it’s always a nightmare. I set the same tempo on both, then manually hit play on my drum machines and groove boxes when recording. You get good timing it after a while and eventually it feels seamless. Worst case, you have to do a slight alignment after you record, but at least every hit will then line up, as opposed to each being slight off in a different way. It’s the only way I can have the hybrid workflow without my session turning into troubleshooting and I’m happy with it. I should add that you need a low latency interface like an Apollo, or use direct monitoring if your interface has it.
I really wish there was a way to have Overbridge on the iPad to use with something like AUM but bouncing tracks back and forth in a daw seems like a nice way to work. I have a bunch of effects plugins and synths on my iPad I could control or change the audio coming in.
Great setup and run through Ricky, always inspirational man. Very appreciated, so many options these days. I’m having fun sort of going the other way at present, creating songs in logic on an iPad mini and recording into an SP404. Then I can perform live with the SP404….etc🎉
Rickey I love ehat you do been diving in on all your videos and just became a member of your community. I have a question I am an m pc user for 20 years and love what you do with the digtakt. I am really am thinking about getting one and wanted to know your thoughs being that you use mpc and digatakt. I have mpc 60II and live 2 and mpc X Thank you in advance
Yo! Thanks so much for the support! The biggest difference for me between the 2 is that the Digitakt you CANNOT adjust your slice points the same way you can on an MPC. they're set in groups evenly spaced. Where as the MPC you can slide them around and add as many as you want basically. Not to mention, the MPC has more flexibility in number of tracks, and midi arrangement polyphony per track. So if you're trying to run entire studios the MPC is your better bet. But if you want a quick fun drum machine that can flip samples around in weird ways that would otherwise be tedious to program on the MPC then the Digitakt is your go to. I use my Digitakt as a drum machine mostly, and then some bassline/sample flip stuff if I have tracks left haha. Also, Overbridge on the Digitakt putting all your tracks into separate tracks in the DAW without messing with your audio interface is awesome.
I gotta say that with how many plugins have been coming out for ipad for some time now ipad is quickly starting to become viable as a laptop replacement for doing live gigs. Not saying most people would be fully satisfied with the limits it must have due to a lower wattage and in turn less. Horse power, but it's getting there.
Heard people throwing shade on logic on the iPad, personally I’ve had the best fun and made more music than ever with a small similar set up. Great upload
Hold up. How are you syncing clock from Digi to the iPad without Overbridge support on iOS? Are you telling us that logic on iOS supports USB audio and clock…???? 😮

Call and response with the birds was too fire 🔥 big ups once again

music is fire.
What no one is talking about is the post work done. What, three camera angles and the iPad screen share?
GOAT

You can see it on Ricky’s face that he’s having a blast with this haha I love it
It's like hurry capture things! press record! keep moving. I love it
it's nice to see how you enjoy yourself at the end because that's the point
Loving logic on the iPad mini. Super portable when I want to start some ideas on the go
You should do more outdoor video's. This was dope.
So much fun to watch and listen to dude!
My fave Tinez vid so far I think
"Oooh. A pine cone!" This is why I keep coming back to this channel.
hahaha! only in post I realized how I sounded..
How did you get the iPad to sync with the Digitakt?
Lol I'm actually wondering if I should buy an iPad Pro for drawing and asked myself if I could use it with my synths to also play music, then you drop that video ! Thanks Ricky 😆
Haha! The answer is hell yes you can! Procreate is super fun too
Absolutely… great advice on Procreate. Immense drawing software, but definitely get an iPad with an Apple Pencil to make best use.
Yup. I use my iPad Pro with Apple Pencil + concepts app for architectural drafting type duties. As well as beatmaker 3.
This is my absolute favourite video of yours! Good vibes, nice foundsound, dope lil setup! Don’t let them 🐿 get u! 🔥
Haha Im trying! They got the sneak attack skill though
I’m curious what you are using to connect Digitakt and microphone to the iPad, and what you’re using for midi out. Is there an interface you would recommend?
Brilliant video Ricky, would love to see more with digitakt and iPad. 🙏🏼
This is such a vibe haha. Love this one man.
oohh a pinecone!!! LOVE IT!! you shouldve put that in then track too!
bro that deckard's dream sample pack you made is so sick. the pads formed the backbone for a hip hop track i've been working on.
Sick! I'd love to hear it when it's done
you can also join tracks, even non contiguous audio files, in logic! you don't necessarily need to bounce/bounce and join

im not gonna watch this , I m Ableton user, but I feel I have to support you, so good luck man
The vibes are unmatched.
the pinecone was genius, thanks ricky!
Hopefully you got a few laying around your neck of the woods :)
The sampler in logic is cool 😎
That was AWESOME! Thanks.
Love your videos, keep up the amazing work brother!
Does Ipad logic use AU Plugins? In that case you could use Overbridge of DT, That would be incredible!
Ricky, can you please share what you're using to get these overhead shots for your videos?
Dude this is chill af, sophisticated sound, all in nature I love it :)
More outside creations please!
Skwerl House about to blow up😂
Watch out for them crazy squirrels 🐿️ Ricky!
Hey Ricky! What sort of cable are you running from the iPad to the Digitakt? Thanks 🙂
Such a nice vibe here man! I like your videos and music so much. Thank u for the nice content u always share ❤
Very great set up yo have. Nice!
whats the mic you have directly plugged into the digitakt?!
I really wish there was a way to have Overbridge on the iPad to use with something like AUM but bouncing tracks back and forth in a daw seems like a nice way to work. I have a bunch of effects plugins and synths on my iPad I could control or change the audio coming in.
same! if I could have all tracks from Digitakt separated into their own tracks that would be nuts! 🥜🐿
Great setup and run through Ricky, always inspirational man. Very appreciated, so many options these days. I’m having fun sort of going the other way at present, creating songs in logic on an iPad mini and recording into an SP404. Then I can perform live with the SP404….etc🎉
First drum loop feels a lot like Motorbass - Flying Fingers. Digging your video, Ricky, keep up the good work!
Whoa thanks for sharing that tune! Its incredible
@@RickyTinez their whole and only album, Pansoul, is absolutely killer. It launched French touch into the stratosphere.
Cheers
Did you run an extension chord or use some kind of portable power source?
Nice workflow! I downloaded Logic last week, but haven't test-drove it yet.
Dope how ya like that mic 🎙️ from critter and Guitar?
Great video. What microphone is that?
It's the Critter and Guitari Microphone! its been my new favorite thing haha - bit.ly/3PnmICF
Great Video! Thanks. Questions: Why is the headphone cable connected to the power bank? What is the Digitakt powered by?
Organic minimal house 😎 this goes hard🔥🫶🏿
A good demonstration that we don't need a field desk to make good music 😜
That's a cool ass mic.
As you dropped the bit of stick onto your iPad, and blew it off, I did the same 🤣🤣🤣
This guy is a genious. And he knows it
more outside vids! this is dope atmosphere

If I wanted to use Logic Pro on my iPad as a mixer/sequencer, what interface would I use to plug a bunch of synths into my iPad?
Nice work brother! I’m starting to get more Digitakt videos up too
Where did you get that white FN button from? I have to exchange my button too.
I'm sure its me that's missing something here, but why do you have the digitakt plugged into a power bank AND it's regular DC power in?
12:05 New verse to “harder better faster stronger”
Whats the mic You are using
I like how you added a live clap. What about trying some live percussion like bongos and congas.
Totally! It’s super fun. I have them in the studio
Are you able to midi sync the the digitakt and Logic Pro on the iPad?
That’s how it’s setup in this video!
Word, no interface either? This reminds me of my early fun days of just using an SP 202 (built in mic) and a Portastudio
Those chords need some Jamiroquai vocals and bass guitar. 🙌
Logic for IPad kind of a Stud. Bonus is it performs like butter.
There’s no issue with wireless headphones and working on music ? :o
having a bang average shitty day and you put a smile on my face with this one cheers ricky!
Could you connect Circuit Tracks to LP on the iPad and use LP as a sound module?
iPad does midi absolutely, but I m not sure how good the midi implementation with logic on there is
I gotta say that with how many plugins have been coming out for ipad for some time now ipad is quickly starting to become viable as a laptop replacement for doing live gigs. Not saying most people would be fully satisfied with the limits it must have due to a lower wattage and in turn less. Horse power, but it's getting there.
Vibes 🐿
That tree looks like it has seen better days 🤭
Maaan I need a promo code for one of those analog pine cones
16:24 Great job, Apple!
more of that pls :)
Yes dude
More outside jams!!
Ricky, really.. you have to do this more often than sitting in the room.. now in summer it's better
highly entertaining
I can't get used to your face without glasses. xD
Imagine Elektron would put a 5$ Wi-Fi unit into their gear and we could use ableton Link instead of midi 🤩
These squirrels 🐿️ 🐿️ 🐿️ out here trying to get me.
Pretty impressive all that on an iPad Mini, not even the Pro model
Whoa who did you switch to contacts or something? I am unnerved. Haha
it's his brother, Richie.
Dope! Try out LOOPY PRO for iPad with the DT next time 😉
Ricky, don't let Scientology get to you ;)
"Squirrels out here trying to get me"
sounds like something off michael mayer's immer
Heard people throwing shade on logic on the iPad, personally I’ve had the best fun and made more music than ever with a small similar set up. Great upload
This song really vibes with my schizophrenic-like fear of squirrels.
bruh i been trying to find this c&g mic EVERYWHERE
Is it still sold out?!
@@RickyTinez yes broooo😔
Next time try Loopy Pro for iPad, I want to see your pov on this piece of software
Logic for iPad is incredible.
They need to add view form zoom
Have you tried Loopy Pro on iOS? I think you would love it.
Great video! I would love to see you play with Drambo on iPad some time, I think you'd really like it
🎧❤🎧❤
Yeah but, what does the fox say?
Hold up. How are you syncing clock from Digi to the iPad without Overbridge support on iOS?
Are you telling us that logic on iOS supports USB audio and clock…???? 😮
OK nevermind. Seems the sync is very off 😢
How is it incredible if there’s latency. Same problem with overbridge and Logic. It’s impossible to work real time
Try loopy pro
I made a track sampling a crow
