      In school for animation one way to be sure your work was good was to remove sound or color or even just listen to the audio and if it stops making sense or if it just becomes horrible you know what to fix and make better.

      @@AA-69 This is the angle at which it is necessary to process the side face on both sides of the stave in the barrel. For example: 8° 11" is 8 degrees 11 minutes, 7° 30" is 7 degrees 30 minutes and so on...

    thank you for sending the link. it took me a bit of time to translate. i found it worked best to turn the PDF into word format then into English. i want to thank you TM for sharing your method of barrel building. i am setting up shop to use your method. to let you know how far you have reached i live all the way around the world in Michigan USA it is cold here we have two months of solid freeze and snow. i will be setting up in winter. best of wishes to you

    Do the staves have to curve down? In other words, can I use a table saw at an angle which will make it more straight rather than curved. This barrel will be for decoration and not filled with any liquid

    Great video! I had one question. It looked like you had the table to your router set at the angle needed to cut the bevel for the staves. Is that correct?

      Thank you very much!!! The milling table has a movable tabletop that can change the angle relative to the cutter from 8 to 12 degrees...

    does the logs need to be aged/dried out before using or can recently cut down wood be used?

      I split and saw freshly felled logs into blanks, and only after that I dry the blanks in the open air for 6-18 months.

      Thank you very much!!! In order to make a metal “working” hoop, you need to calculate the approximate circumference at the edge of the barrel and a little closer to the middle of the barrel. With the help of these “working” hoops you will assemble a barrel. And on the finished, polished barrel it will be necessary to make “permanent” finishing hoops...       If you glue barrel staves together and remove the hoops, then after filling a wooden barrel with water, the wood will begin to swell and the barrel may fall apart...

      This step is needed when making barrels with hand tools... If you are processing the side edge of the staves for the barrel using a router, then this step can be skipped...

      For a 12" barrel (which equals 30.48 cm), I recommend using 20 staves 5.0 cm wide at the widest part and 4.6 cm wide at the edges. The angle of the side faces of each riveting should be 9 degrees.

      To make the staves for the wooden barrel, I use a homemade jig template that I made from a piece of laminate. And I process the side edge of the barrel staves on a homemade milling machine, which I made from a broken angle grinder.
