These are just custom profiles. The only difference here is that the look up tables are shared in a community and available to everyone in the application. So you can use others' LUT and vice versa. It's a useless feature in a not so useful camera. A7C series and the ZV E1 are much better. Starting with lens support, advanced AF etc.
@@humanfirst11here's the thing there's a community website for the Nikon picture profiles, I understand what a lut is but still when I have the presets on my camera that get my desired effects it does seem kinda useless since I end up running even those through Lightroom at the end of the day

Having the ability to "color grade" your video or photo inside the camera and have it come out the way you would like is a really useful feature. It means you don't have to fuss with editing later or you can get content out quicker for client situations that demand really fast turnarounds.
Custom profiles are from camera manufacturers so you will always be limited to whatever they provide you. LUTS are industry standard ways of making "presets" to give you radically different looks to your footage or in the case of the S9, footage and photos. This means that the possibilities for what kind of looks you can get on your photos and video straight out of camera are literally endless. And if you don't like what anyone has made, you can make your own from scratch, and get a photo or video to look exactly the way you like.

for 1799 , buying sony a6700 with sigma 16-50 f2.8, is way better investment in every angle , S9 doesn't have a EVF, flash , hot shoe port , ibis everything you get there, it like a cripple in photography and video , sony a6700 can do 4k60FPS without any 15min record limit why bother , and also sony have picture profile which is like fuji recipes , so wny bother with LUTs anyway

I'm sorry but not better in every angle...and yes, I'm looking at my a6700. 1. Overheats like craaaaaazy.... 2. IBIS is vastly inferior. 3. Not Full-Frame 4. No Open-Gate 5. No 6K 6. No Lut System + App If you think that uploading a picture profile on the Sony is the same as this system, you need to watch a full deep dive into the system.

LUT is more familiar in video world, basically a preset that goes on top of your video to give it a particular look. Sometimes that look is simply to get it to a very middle of the road suitable for all screens look, and sometimes it's to give it a heavy distinctive feel like a Matrix green or Bladerunner orange. Panasonic made it so that any LUT you have can be baked direct into footage you shoot but as a bonus you can also use it for photos. So just like Fujifilm has "film simulations" and "recipes" Panasonic is leaning into LUTS.

Not really sure this camera is meant for any of those scenarios. If that's your use case the S5iiX is the answer.

Yes you can shoot JPG and RAW simultaneously so you can still go back and edit a photo like you normally would.

If you had to compare PP to Luts and Recipes, this isnt the camera for you.
Lumix offers better ibis and their log doesnt crush blacks
