    The design incorporates a coaxial tweeter/mid which provides a single point source in the critical midrange and this could be the secret sauce.
    Interesting monitor, thank you Barry!

      So I ended up buying this monitor and I opened it up and it needs a little work… a little more bracing and a little more cabinet deadening. I’ll experiment and see… as it comes, it sounds very good and I am not disappointed. Most speakers commercially made need more dampening and rigidity. I bought them used for $450 for the pair and I couldn’t see any wear on them.

    Barry. Did you know that these are 3 way monitors? You mentioned. Woofer and tweeter. But there’s a mid. As well. Which makes this speaker different. So comparing to a 2 -way is not apples to apples

    Morning Barry, don't recall mentioned in this video that these are 3 way monitors. Coincendent coaxial tweeter and mid range woofer which there is not a lot of competition at this price range. I have these monitors paired with their ws 6.2 subwoofer in treated room and for the first time I'm getting some pretty good mixes.

    • @Studio22mix
      @Studio22mix 2 місяці тому +1

      Exactly my choice, if you have the sub tuned and phase aligned you’ll have an amazing low-end. The WS6.2 is a very good sub 👌🏼😎

    I have had the pleasure to mix on Barefoot’s, Adam’s and Ocean Waves monitors. All are in different studios. Each are fantastic and have their own voice that you have to learn. I also mix regularly on a cheap pair of JBL’s (2325’s and matching sub) and a pair of extremely cheesy Mackie’s with 4” woofers. If you can make something sound decent on a pair of cheesy monitors, chances are that your mixes will translate half way decently on everything else. The difference between good monitors and cheap monitors is they will get you there a lot faster and are much more sensitive to slight changes. It’s still important to use reference mixes and test your mixes on as many systems as you possibly can.

    Hi Barry!
    I have the LP-6 as well and I love them, I am thinking on upgrading as I am finding the need for more clarity on the mids and a deeper low end, so I'm between going for the IN-8s or adding a WS12 to the LP-6s (thinking the low driver on them will work less and focus more on the mids) i have heard the low end doesn’t change a lot from the 6inch models to the 8inch, so wondering which option you would go for, I would love to test them but I haven’t found a place in Mexico where I could do that
    (I have a 16ft by 26ft treated room, so not small)

    I have the IN-5's and ultimately moved to DynAudio LYD8's... For me, the difference was big enough to warrant making the change (well...adding the DA's). For whatever reason, I could never get my Kali's to roll off smoothly from around 13k+... My room is well treated and trying all the modes, etc just never worked. The LYD's seem to react much better in that area. Maybe it's something to do with 3-way vs. 2-way speakers and the cross-over points. Who knows? I still like my Kali's regardless and have moved them to another section of my studio where I plan to shoot YT videos and have a different setup/audio interface, etc.... I feel they'll work out well there.

    This vs HS8, Presonus 8 XT, and Tannoy Gold 8's is what I'm trying to see what I will get. Slightly treated room, still gonna make some rockwool panels up and some bass traps after a bit of REW work. And just got my ARC Studio as well. I liked the sound profile given by the HS8 because they gave me that live room feel honestly..but what would ya'll recommend?

      Also, Presonus 8 XT have those Class A/B amps in them. Supposable they sound better than Class D on the rest of these. (As far as amps go). And also, I'm willing to treat the speaker itself for resonances within the plastic casings..

    I couldn't get on board with the Kali IN-8. Something in the upper mids with vocals that I could not iron out. It wasn't extreme but it kept drawing attention to itself and I could not let it go. The HS8 on the other hand had no issues at all. Try throwing Dire Straits - Sultans Of Swing (Official Music Video) and The Police - Roxanne (Official Music Video) at it and see what you think. The inexpensive JBL 305P MKII didn't seem to struggle at all with those vocals. What gives? Perhaps my hearing is off.....

    John, no room can be perfectly treated. A room correction software or hardware is of the utmost importance even when your room is treated unless you know your room very well and can compensate by ear.

    • @jrvtevb346
      @jrvtevb346 2 місяці тому +1

      Not true. „Perfectly“ treated must not be defined as technically perfect, but for personal taste. For one person, a room can be treated perfectly, based on technical parameters AND personal needs. actually a room correction software will at a certain point be a weaker link in your chain than your room and your speakers due to limitations of the digital domain (ringing for example that can really affect transients in the high frequency range)
      To think that speakers are only defined by their frequency response is a huge misconception. Every speaker will sound differently when corrected to a „flat“ response. So there is no shortcut from getting to know your system very well.

      @@KimonoEtrange You are presenting the "compensation" by ear as something that is a 2nd choice solution, whereas it is without alternative. in a correctly treated room (Some would say "perfect") correction software is actually worsening the chain instead of making it better. That is my whole point.
