As a fan of spice, the Tikka Masala can actually get quite spicy if you have enough of them. That being said, It didn't stop me from finishing the whole bag.
Emmy, what I LOVE about your videos is that you are always so positive about the food. You never say negative things or bad mouth anything and I really respect that. Even if it is not to your liking you still talk respectfully and it is refreshing and honest. You always keep it real and seem very down to earth. We need more youtubers like you.
I tastes the Indian Tikka Masala chips and oh my goodness... they are DELICIOUS! Honestly the best Lays chip flavor I have ever had, not exaggerating. It's a beautiful blend of spices that aren't overwhelming or strange.
Canada has the Tzaiki :) I personally thought it was just OK. The Tikka Masala was NOT good. BUT they're a great novelty & good on Lays for trying something new :)
The Tikka Masala chips are the best potato chips flavor I've ever had in my life! My only complaint is that these are only a limited time item. Wish they would keep this flavor, its so delicious!

Yes, the Tzatziki chips were part of Canada's Do Us a Flavour challenge the other year, and it was actually from someone who was here in my home town! I loved the flavour, and yes, there was a little bit of cucumber in there. Super delicious, but sadly lost to I believe Bacon Poutine.
i LOVE the way you so vividly and specifically describe the taste of the chips and even listing the individual ingredients! :0 . keep doing what you're doing. love your videos emmy! :)
Some of these experimental flavours are hit and miss, it is a shame the Szechwan Chinese chicken ones weren't spicier. I'd try them all. Not really a fan of steak flavoured chips either.
Bought all 4 from my local Kroger's Food Store here in Central IL. My thoughts on a 1 through 4 ranking...... #1 WAVY GREEK TZATZIKI - Absolutely delicious! A subtle & creamy variation on your average Sour Cream & Onion Chip. They should definitely keep as a regular flavor. #2 KETTLE COOKED INDIAN TIKKA MASALA - Very good & quite surprising. Having never had Tikki Masala, I was expecting something more exotic. What I got was a taste that should be familiar to anyone who's ever had "Jay's BBQ Potato Chips". I'm not sure where "Jay's Potato Chips" are available nationally & internationally, but the paprika-heavy flavor of their BBQ chips is almost identical to these new Lay's. Tasty & surprisingly familiar to me. #3 BRAZILIAN PICANHA - I'm not sure exactly what Brazilian Picanha is; and after eating these chips I still don't know! Bland, almost non-existent flavor. Very disappointing. #4 CHINESE SZECHUAN CHICKEN - Just what you'd expect......only worse. Slap some shrimp-flavored ramen bullion, a little heat and burnt charcoal flavoring on plain potato chips and Voila! These are absolutely horrid!
Tzatziki is an exclusive Greek flavor, it is made from yoghurt cucumber and garlic. Greeks that live abroad and have restaurants are making a lot, thats why you heard the Canada thing! Nice videos! :D

i had hoped for a little more cucumber flavor in the tzatziki chips and i loved the tikka masala flavored chips. i still have to try the other 2, but i'm sure tikka masala will end up being my fave.
OMG, I am Brazilian and you said Picanha so right! I never heard an American person pronouncing it correctly as you did, I’m impressed! Thanks for your content! God bless!
weirdly tikka masala is a British dish. Indian inspired but I believe invented in Glasgow. it is England's national dish. but we do not have this flavour crisps. also tzatsiki is definately cucumbet flavour. youghurt and cucumber to be exact
Like yeah, britishers knew how to use spices before they invaded India. :P . I really despise these stupdity of brits who try futile attempt to own Indian dishes. :P
+Abhishek Tanwar I'm not lying, we don't claim to own Indian dishes, and it's alway bette cooked authentic by people with a lifetime of experience with spices but it was created in a restaurant in Glasgow Scotland, the story goes that a diner asked for some "gravy" to go with his tandoori chicken so the chef came up with it. That is definitely the Legend!
Next time If any Indian fuse Indian flavours to a chinese dish, will you consider it as Indian dish ?. Obviously not, the dish is authentically from India. The flavours used in tikka masala are from Indian dishes. All the masalas used are grown in India only. There is point in claiming it. :P
I haven't tried the tikka masala flavour with Lay's chips, but it's a big favourite of mine, as a snack flavour choice. Just thought i'd add, Australian Kettle, Chilli chips are amazing!! When i travelled to Australia, i found loads of amazing packaged chips. All used natural ingredients for seasoning, used real good quality potatoes & were so crunchy. If you can get your hands on Australian chips, do try. A country with great food & great food choices, even though the supermarkets, aren't always as big as in the US.
Emmy, I have a strange request, I really hope if you can help. I've never had miso and can never have it because it contains alcohol. But I'm really craving to have miso soup and miso sauces. So I was wondering, if I mash beans and mix in soy sauce and marmite. Would it taste close to it?j
There are some brands of miso that don't contain alcohol and that have the halal label... Not sure where to find them... Also if I'm not mistaken... Organic miso pastes don't contain any alcohol.
Honestly I've never heard of Miso containing alcohol before... It's a traditional dish in Japan that many children and adults alike eat. I'm sure if you look it up you'll find brands in your nearest Asian food market that do not contain any alcohol.
+Shapoot miso produces alcohol naturally due to the fermentation process ( I think 8 % ) so does soy sauce ". So unfortunately even if no sake was added to stop any further fermentation, it'll still naturally contain alcohol. That's why I'm looking into making a fake miso 😅💔
The level of alcohol if at all, is as much as any fruit juice, hence it must be halal. Secondly, miso soup is served hot, which means you would not get any.

Hi Emmy! I'm a new subscriber and I found myself binge-watching a whole bunch of emmymadeinjapan videos (my first was the SPAM taste test). I've had all of these but the Chinese Szechuan Chicken. I liked the other three, but my favorite is the Indian Tikka Masala as well.
I tried all 4. Tikka Masala (with it's gorgeous spices and slow-building heat) and Tzatziki are definitely my faves (and yes, you are tasting Cucumber in the tzatziki, as it is a yogurt cucumber sauce- I think it kicks the pants off any ranch flavor!). Picahna was good, I got a slightly smoky meat essence with it, and of course the nice herbaceous notes. The Szechuan chicken reminded me slightly of a spicy ramen. And even though they were very "hot", and not exactly a flavor I look for, I had trouble stopping when eating them.
The Greek flavor was definitely available in Canada last summer. I was visiting family and we tried all the flavor context flavors. I remember it being very similar to sour cream and onion. It was ok. The most memorably special flavor for me is still cappuccino.
What needs to be said? This video is great as usual. Thank you. I love your taste tests of a familiar product with rare or unusual flavors. Always fun. Actually all your taste tests are fun. You're one of my top ten favorite UA-camrs.
I saw these the other day at my local Walgreens and just had to try them. Overall, they were all pretty tasty but, I think my favorite is the Chinese Szechuan Chicken, with The Brazilian Picanha 2nd Indian Tikka Masala 3rd, and finally the Greek Tzatziki.... It's always fun to see the new flavors Lay's comes up with.
Thanks for the translation lol, I was just going to ask what you say before you eat. I love your descriptions on the different tastes. You could totally be a food critic. You are so calming.
I've had all of them. The Greek one definitely has a cucumber flavor to it. The Indian one was pretty unremarkable to me, and quite frankly I don't remember the flavor well. The Chinese one reminds me of heavily seasoned ramen, good but too salty. The Brazilian one was the best to me. Hints of lime and Latin spices. Very yummy!
You're lucky to be able to find those so readily, especially this early in the game. Ever since they've started doing yearly debuts of the "do us a flavor" or now this world-trip stuff - I can only find one flavor at a time. If I'm REALLY lucky. And usually it's the one I like the least.
Have you ever had a gyro, Emmi? Its made with pita bread, thinly sliced lamb meat and topped with tzitzit sauce, which is yogurt, cucumber, dill, garlic and other flavors. Its soo good!!
in the UK we dont have the tikka masala crisps (as we call 'chips') because we dont have lays but we have walkers and the logo is the exact same.in greece ive never seen the cucumber and yoghurt chrisps but i went to one of the western islands
We tasted the dill most when we tried the tzatziki it really came through! The Chinese Szechuan Chicken tasted like the beef ramen noodle spice packet!
In Peru, we don't have any of the ones you ate here but we do have our own. We have 'pollo a la brasa' chips, 'lomo saltado' chips, 'papa a la huancaina' chips and 'chancho al palo' chips. And... Obviously the traditional ones.
We don't have the tzatziki-flavored one in Greece, but my God, do I want it right now. When I was living in the US, I had a conversation with a couple of friends about how they had to sail the seven seas in order to acquire the formerly-Greek-exclusive "Lays Oregano potato chips" in the US, whereas in Greece, it's considered pretty generic and yet, an all-time classic. The tikka masala one sounds so appetizing too.
Wow, ive seen so many food reviews channels. Daym drops just entertained me. But you know what you are talking about. Real flavors, real experience. Instant sub after my first video, this, and rock on beautifull. You are true foodie. Not some fat guy giving everything A FIVE ALL DAY when its huge and loaded. You have class and taste and knowledge.
I found all these at the grocery store here. We, of course, opened them all to try. The Szcechuan were my favorite actually, they taste to me a lot like the peppered chicken dish at Panda Express. Tikki Masala and Tzaziki were tied for second. I'd put the Tzaziki first but the flavor went away after a couple chips and just started tasting bad, but the Tikki Masala ones did have a nice crunch which I liked. The Picanha ones are waaaaayyyy down the list for me. I got a grassy/earthy flavor from them that I couldn't shake. It's interesting the way people interpret different flavors. Great video as always!
We just tried these at my cousin's house. She had bought a box of the small bags and we were all curious. I like the Tika Masala the best. And no, on the Tziki you weren't hallucinating the cucumber taste, I found it too.
The kettle-cooked chips/crisps remind me of Kettle Chips we can get in the UK. The tzatziki ones sound the most appealing to me and I might have tried houmous chips with that flavour before.
I bought these in snack size to try it out a few days ago. The Greek Tzatziki tastes really strongly of cucumbers for me, which is a refreshing flavor but also really strange for chips. Both the Tikka Masala and Szechwan Chinese Chicken were too spicy for me but they both hit the ballpark on the spices of the area it was going for in my opinion. The best is the Brazilian Picanha. I ended up buying a big bag of that one! Its a subtle and flavorful chip seasoning that tastes like braised beef juice that mixed with the tangy sauces that usually accompany the meat at a rodicio, which coincidentally is my favorite part of the dish ( when the rice soaks it all up from the bottom.) This is their best run so far I think. They seem to be getting better at making the flavors a) edible and b) good!
we don't have any of these here in Greece. not even the tzatziki one. idk why but it seems we have less flavors than other countries in both lays and oreos. As for the tzatziki sauce, it's basic ingredients are yogurt and garlic (the more garlic the better) and then cucumber. that's why you taste the garlic more. ;)
Canadian checking in: a couple years ago we had a kettle cooked Tzaziki flavour for the "do us a flavour" competition, it was delicious. Haven't seen it recently though.
I tried the Tikka Masala and the hubs did not like that one, he said there was a sweetness to it that he couldn't get past. I also tried the Greek Tzatziki and it vaguely reminded me of sour cream and onion but not as heavy. Like you, I did catch a hint of cucumber, it's vague but it's there the more of them you eat the more you taste it. I may go get the other two this weekend and see what they're like. But so far my fav is the Tzatziki.
The USA Has them. I got mine at a local Hy-Vee grocery store. Yes I taste the cucumber since Tatziki is a yogurt garlic cucumber dip. I really like the Brazillian Picana ones they make the salivary glands go nuts
I'm in New Brunswick, Canada. we have the "do us a flavour" world Favorites. There is Canada- bacon poutine, United Kingdom- cheddar and onion, and Thailand- Thai sweet chilli.
I lived in Beijing and yes they do have the Szechwan chicken flavor...i do prefer the ruffle spicy numbing hot pot but ill take what i can get...ill see if its the same as soon as i get my hands on some
I've just found your uploads & I enjoyed this upload. You're a sweetie Emmy. Just from viewing, i'd have to go with the tikka masala. It's a much safer bet & it actually looks nicer too.
I tried all of these - Subway had the little bags so I scooped them up. They were okay. I felt the same way you did about them. But, it was fun to try!
I loved the tikka masala. I would like to try the tzatziki due to my love for that sauce on greek style gyros, but that tikka masala is going to be hard to beat. great video emmy, just subscribed and looking forward to watching your vids ☺

So did I. Those are the best ones. I finished the whole bag as well, and it was so good. :)

I live in Greece we eat tzatziki here all the time we put it in the well known Greek souvlaki!!!
I’m currently in Greece and omg, they have Ruffles, Cheetos, Lays and even like 10 types of Pringles, am blown away.
We just tried these at my cousin's house. She had bought a box of the small bags and we were all curious. I like the Tika Masala the best. And no, on the Tziki you weren't hallucinating the cucumber taste, I found it too.
Had the Greek Chips yesterday & those are my favorite by far!
Greetings from Greece 🙂🖐️✌️
Tikka masala is one of my all time FAVORITE dishes, and to see they have made a chip form im dying to run down to the store and pick it up!
i.love how you can describe the food it feels like I am actually eating and makes me hungry so thank you for that experience
I got these yesterday and looked for your video on them, as I assumed you had one made- and a day later, here we are!:)
Do you cleanse your palette between flavors? and if so with what? Thanks for the videos!
I love the Greek ones a lot and the ingredients say "Natural Cucumber Flavor" on the back of the bag which is what I tasted the first try. Yum!!
As for the tzatziki sauce, it's basic ingredients are yogurt and garlic (the more garlic the better) and then cucumber. that's why you taste the garlic more. ;)
Do the forklift boogie.
I love your descriptions of the chips and your relaxed/calm aura. I can't believe I haven't seen your channel before! ♡
Where I come from in Puerto Rico we call picanna, pinchos, which is basically seasoned meats on a stick served with or covered in sauce.
Very thorough review, much appreciated
Canadian checking in: a couple years ago we had a kettle cooked Tzaziki flavour for the "do us a flavour" competition, it was delicious. Haven't seen it recently though.
You are so entertaining, nicely detail everything. Thank you!
My mum love tzaziki!! She has it all the time! It's sour cream, garlic and yes cucumbers!
I just saw the tikka masala Lays at the market tonight (in SF area). Thank you for posting this!!
I just found your youtube channel and have watched so many of your awesome tastings.
It’s great that all these flavors have come out!
I'm gunna have to keep an eye out for these while I'm out shopping next Thursday!
The USA Has them.
I got mine at a local Hy-Vee grocery store. Yes I taste the cucumber since Tatziki is a yogurt garlic cucumber dip. I really like the Brazillian Picana ones they make the salivary glands go nuts
I tried these this week, I loved the tikka masala chips and the Sichuan chips best. and I absolutely did taste cucumber in the tzatziki chips
I'd really like to try the Greek one, for sure.
You should greetings from Greece!✌️
I'm in New Brunswick, Canada. we have the "do us a flavour" world Favorites. There is Canada- bacon poutine, United Kingdom- cheddar and onion, and Thailand- Thai sweet chilli.
Thank you for finally putting what that phrase means!! You're the best!
I lived in Beijing and yes they do have the Szechwan chicken flavor...i do prefer the ruffle spicy numbing hot pot but ill take what i can get...ill see if its the same as soon as i get my hands on some
We have pretty unusual flavors here in Thailand. Nori seaweed, scallops & garlic butter and other sweet ones.
Yes they were in Canada. They were my fave!
Lays is one of my favorite chip brands and Emmy your my favorite UA-camr who eats, best descriptions ever!!!!!!!
I loved the tikka masala. I would like to try the tzatziki due to my love for that sauce on greek style gyros, but that tikka masala is going to be hard to beat. great video emmy, just subscribed and looking forward to watching your vids ☺
Yes, we do have tzaziki potato chips here in Canada, but from other brands than Lay's (from my knowledge anyway)! :)
I'm from Canada and we did have the tzatziki one here but they were kettle cooked ones! At least those were the only ones I saw in my grocery store.
