Great to see someone using a stove top rather than an instant pot for a change. Recipes using the stove pot will be well appreciated.
Thanks Dennis 😊
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes I think that the same! Thank you for this video I'm not so scared of a pressure cooker. Do you think that I can cook in this cooker a white rice?
There's at least one Indian cookbook just for Insta-Pot.
Anyone else have a phobia of pressure cookers? Or just me 😩
Hi Humma, I used to have that too! But honestly they're not as scary as they look. 😆
Me too 🥴
That's why I am here ....
I have 2 pressure cooker but I haven’t used them because im so scared 😁
Glad to see I’m not alone 😂
Me too
Practical tip: add two centimeters of water before you heat the pot, and add boiling water from the kettle. You can also lower the heat /turn it down by a quarter once steam starts escaping from the valve /and the pressure indicator has popped up. Then start your timing for the cooking process
I have been using a pressure cooker for years. My mother had one too. I wouldn't cook potatoes like that because a lot of the nutrients go into the water. I always steam vegetables in a basket inside the pressure cooker, using very little water at the bottom of the pan. The water does not touch the vegetables.
Thanks for this tutorial. My mum gave me a stove pressure cooker which I have been terrified to use! I have the instant Crock pot and the scariest part is when the pressure starts building up, sounding louder and louder then abruptly stops. Just like my heart does in those moments.. 😭
Haha, honestly nothing to worry about as its got a safety valve which won't open unless the pressure inside decreases! So no chance of blowing yourself or your kitchen up, luckily 🤣🤣
THANK YOU for explaining it so well. I am one of those who never learned how to cook growing up so I am learning now and always wanted to try using a pressure cooker but I'm just too afraid to do so... now I am more confident that I can do it safely. Great job!
I'm in the same situation and thanks to pressure cooker and wok cooking is easy :) Good luck!
Very good question, but it's just not being answered, although alot of folks are asking the same question. Will the video author please answer the question for us. Or do a new video and refer it to us. Thanks.
Excellent video! Thank you for showing this. ♥
Thanks for the information I have a stove top pressure canner that I never used I am going to give it a try
Very informative. Thank you 🙌🏽

Very informative and a simple way of explaining. Thank you.
Most useful video. THANK YOU
Thank you. This was very helpful.
Thank you so much, you are a lifesaver, I was terrified while cooking using it for the first time, but now I know how to do it safely
💗🙏
Thank you! Very helpful!!
thanks for xplain simply
Thank you very much,
I didn't know how to do it, I learned it through this video, very helpful
Thanks for the tutorial, it’s very helpful! One question: in some of the desi YT recipes, the cook instructs to cook for 2 whistles or 3 whistles, which I have not understood as our pressure cooker does not whistle and I don’t know how to translate these whistles into minutes. Please help on this dilemma of cooking with pressure cooker. Thanks in advance.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. It's very helpful!😊
Glad it was helpful!
Thankyou for expliaing so clearly. My mum had one as you say but I never sussed it. It was your rice video that got me thinking about one again.
Theyre pretty easy to use once you kinda get used to them 😊
This is so helpful! Thanks for sharing this. I was thinking to gift my mom one and now I have a better understanding of what to choose for her.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much! What a wonderful explanation, and I'm really interested in buying a pressure cooker now!
Hi, thanks for this video introduction. My question is whether you maintained the temperature setting of the hob at 9 for the entire 7 minutes or did you reduce the temperature at some point after the steam pressure was established? BTW I just noticed a comment saying you can reduce the heat by a quarter and then start the timer. How about what you do.? Part of this method is to save energy right?
amazing demonstration! this was very helpful thank you.
Glad it was helpful! 😊
My grandma used to use these all time bless her and everything she did in them was beautiful!
🙏
Found you via Al, glad l have, not BIR which are all so often for one person. Not for couple, or family living. Great content - don't stop!
I love the wideness of the cooker. I wish they were all wide, it's perfect cooking.
You just saved my.life I've just bought one of these and havent a clue how it works. I have the other one with the whistle on top prestige. But how do you k ow its cooked on these new ones
I make perfect basmati rice in 7 mins in pressure cooker.1 cup rice, 1cup boiled water. 😋
Good for you 🙌
Finally a great explanation!
Thank you your video has helped a great deal
Thank you for this. Would love to see more pressure cooker recipes and also slow cooker recipes :)

Many thanks for showing us how to use pressure cooker. Very useful
Just looked at your video again and I was using the wieight dial wrongly. Cancel my former gripe. You are an angel.
" Thank You for Educating us; most kind ! "
Very informative! I really like the shape and features of that pot, but sadly this unit is not available on the US nor Canada Amazon sites.
Yes this was helpful! Thanks!
So glad!
I love pressure cookers. I have 5 already and just ordered another one from QVC. 😊
thy very much! good video!
Thank you!
Thankyou!!!! was so precise and perfect info
Glad I could be of help
Thank you so much, great vid !
You're welcome!
Good tutorial! What is also important is that you always polish the lid with a metal polish. If there are fingerprints on the lid and the lid heats up, the fingerprints will burn in and over time the pot will no longer look nice.
Can't wait for the pressure cooker recipes

My mum cooked everything in a pressure cooker.
I was always scared of it.
Now that our Government have stitched us up by increasing energy prices on purpose, I can't wait to use one.

Very useful information
Welcome
Thanks, I think ppl in the UK will all be scrabbling about in the back of their cupboards for their pressure cookers now that the power costs have doubled. I know I have. Will be trying chick peas, quinoa and wheatberries in mine to begin with.
Agree with you 💯
Hi. Exactly spot on👌 . It is overwhelming the various instant pots. Electric multi cookers, electric pressure cookers etc. I remember my mother using one of these when I was growing up. (60 yrs) TERRIFIED ME!! Now I need to be brave and get one. Can't afford the electric bill now, never mind when it increases again.
Thank you for that!
Seems like all the pressure cooker videos here are for insta-pots, I have an unused one similar to the one you are using and I want to try corned beef in it as I heard it is the best way to cook corned beef.
I always used at stove top pressure cooker. Then I bought an Instapot. The Instapot has its uses, such as sous vide cooking, yogurt making, slow cooking but it takes AGES to heat up. I use my stove top for vegetables but I don NOT cook them in water, as shown in this video. I put them in a basket on a slightly elevated trivet so that only steam is forced through the vegetables and they are not touching the water.
Very well explained
wow very useful information
Thanks 😊
Thanks ❤
Thanks 🙏
@MyLittleKitchenRecipes How important is it to replace the rubber gasket on the lid on a regular basis? Thank you in advance.
I like the way you make your video, straight to the point, nice one.
Thanks 😊
I agree.
Thanks for this information 🎥
My pleasure
I live in a differemt city than my mum now until I am able to move her out here I need to cook by myself, thanks for the video

Nicely explained - very technical for me lol. The question everybody will be asking what did you end up doing with the boiled potatoes you made......
I turned them into mash! 😊
Where we can get info for right timing of cooking for various food, lamb, chicken, curry, soup etc
Great video which guide do u use for rice one or two

Oh yayyy I can't wait to see recipes of you using pressure cooker. Great video, as always. Thank you x
Thank you Nadia 😊
Thank You
You're welcome 😊
This is really helpful. Can I ask what temp do you have your hob on and do you leave it on the same temp throughout the 7 mins cooking time?
I'm afraid I cannot remember of the top of my head, but all details are in the video including timings and hob settings. Kindly watch the video
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes I watched the video and you forgot to mention about turning down the hob.
Do we need to do that?
@@ImperfectCarnivoreUK We do have to turn it down abit, yes.
a good question, not mentioned in the demo.
Once it steams up, turn the temp down untill the steam slows down.
No steam at all coming out is as bad as too much steam.
Hi…so do you choose the timing you want to cook for? Approx how long for lamb?
Hi, no there is no timer on a pressure cooker. It's always approx timings that you kinda figure out yourself. Lamb I'd say would take approximately 20- 25mins, again depends on the size of the pecies. Hope that helps 😊👍
Thanks for this! Would you be able to give the timers for different foods? how long does it take to cook rice or veggies or dal?
Hi there, dal - kidney bean curry for example pre soaked takes approx 25/30 mins to cook from scratch. Moong dal approx 15mins. As far as vegetables are concerned, I've never used it for that as I don't really use it to cook vegetables but potatoes are cooked much quicker than in a normal pot.
You can find those online.
Thanks for the video. Please note that adding water to a pan that is extremely hot, will damage the pan. The surface will get permanently warped and will never again make proper contact with you hob. Pans need to be flat to be heated efficiently.
Great tip!
I have cooled down my decades old stainless pressure cooker with water for over 50 years and it is still flat bottom. I think it depends on the quality of the pan.
Just discovered ur channel from Al’s kitchen cooking one of ur recipes. This was a great video. Always been a bit unsure if pressure cookers but will definitely get one now after seeing ur video. Can you cook rice in one? Thanks
Hi Dean, thanks for your comment 😊. I hope you enjoy my content. Yes absolutely, my follow up video will be a rice based dish. Please be sure to subscribe to the channel and turn that bell notification on so you know when new videos are uploaded 😊
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes thanks. I have subscribed. Looking forward to the videos 😊
Any thing that increase with scum must be controlled drastically as the volume might make the valve on the lid blocked up. Reduce the fire/flame when pressure becomes evident.. It will surely cook on low flame in safety!
Thank you i will order the same
You won't regret it. We love ours and you can use my Amazon affiliate link in the description box if you wish. 😊👍
Very informative, thanks very much. Really helpful!
You're very welcome!
Found you via Al's kitchen.. This is a must channel :) I have an electric pressure cooker and hot pot combined so I'm ready to kick the recipes in to touch Thanks for sharing Shamza Do you ever make black lentil dahl? The one I had was so creamy and tasty would love to see an authentic one made :)
Check my recommendation in work office comments up there.

That’s great. My mum had a pressure cooker years ago that she used - it was built like a battleship. I’ve contemplated buying one before but didn’t know how to operate one and was nervous about blowing myself and kitchen up 😀. After watching your vid, I’m getting one, very simple and safe if you follow the instructions - cheers 👍🏻
They are brilliant. Please do check out my Amazon link if your interested in purchasing the same as mine.
Thank you
You're welcome
Thank you for the video and tips. I have a question regarding the heat setting of the hob. Do you reduce it or does it cook on highest setting all the way through? Because I don’t think you mentioned it. Please let us know. Thank you ever so much
Hi there, thank you for your comment 😊
The heat setting was on a high all the way through.
When the pressure "appears" to fill inside the utensil, you can reduce the flame/setting to medium or even lower as it will cook more safely.. you do not have to put much liquid/water and if it is something that will increase in scum, the scum will not block the valve up in the lid as if the valve is blocked with scum, the pressure cooker might explode. Take care about handling it when putting dried grains etc..
Do you leave burner on high while your cooking? Do you turn burner off after pressure is established ? Im confused 😕
How long should be the timer set for chicken/Mutton biriyani after red nob pops up, and steam starts coming out? Thanks
as a man i thank you for teaching me how to use this , and not explode
Where did u buy yr 3 litre pressure cooker from as l need one the same size. Do Tefal make a 3 litre ones. Please respond a.s.a.p. Would appreciate it. Thanks
Check the description box. I've a link to my Amazon shop and the pressure cooker is there. 😊
Do you have the Amazon link for this cooker???
hi, yes a similar one is in my description box, but here is the same link:amzn.to/3s3irs0
Thankyou
Welcome
How do you know when the potato’s have cooked inside? Do you have to estimate cooking time?
Hi I have been given a presto telco a pressure cooker 6liter but no instructions on how to use can you help me please thank you
great video , for indian daal how long do you suggest i cook after that red thing comes up ? thanks
S Milli, depends on which daal you're cooking. For moong daal for example it takes around 6/7 mins and other bigger pulses such as kidney beans, times will vary.
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes I got 2 levels (1and 2) so its better to cook all lentils , beans in level 1 right ? thanks
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes what settings would you set to before the red valve pops up? i know its number after the valve pops up. cheers
How do you translate the Indian "whistles" (seetis) in the Indian cookers to time in these ones?
❤️❤️❤️
Hi, I bought new tower cooker. Steam continuesley coming from safety valve. Is it meant to be? Looks fallty to me.
Does the stove setting matter? Should we set the stove to high or do we set first High then Low?
I have the same question. It wasn't addressed in the video. It would be nice if this was answered. 🤔
what settings do you put before red valve pops up and after red valve pops up please ? for veggies thanks a lot
High heat setting until red button pops up and then medium high but it does depend on the vegetables being cooked.
for cooking rice , do i put the top nozzle on 1 or 2 please
Yep
