If Republicans are whining we are headed in the right direction. Ignore them and move on.
Republicans do not care about you.
Full stop.
Joe Biden: I care about the republican whining.
I know right. So frustrating. -things that don’t need to are becoming politicized and weaponized for no reason just to spite people they perceive disagree with them when in fact it’s largely true that there’s more Americans agree upon than disagree upon but for whatever reason the state sponsored fear news machines have to spread disinformation and misinformation intended to inflame and embolden ignorance and confusion and stupid chaotic sociocultural indigence. You should be in the senate; you've noticed what so many senators appear incapable of seeing! It's not like McConnell could be _worse_ than he currently is, no matter how much he threatens to try.

That's pretty harsh of you. Hopefully everyone here realises that it is not, ultimately, Biden's decision. That said, as the leader of his party his support goes an incredibly long way and is likely required for the change to be made.
If somebody here was unaware that Biden does not have that power, being insulted by you isn't going to help them learn.
"If you mess with the filibuster, we'll do what we already do whenever we have the majority in the Senate!"

In Australia we have compulsory voting. Everyone votes. We have a BBQ afterwards where you get a sausage in bread. It happens on a Saturday. People get time off work to go vote if they need it. The last time I voted I timed it and from getting to the voting place (which was 500m from my house) to walking out after voting took 2 minutes. Point is - America is insane.

Unfortunately, they don't really fail with all the blocking everything - they are far too successful. And I also really hate Mitch and wish his voters would see him for the turd he is and stop automatically voting republican. The only chance to get rid of Mitch is probably if he pisses off Trump some more, and Trump sets up a rival candidate - that could actually be fun...😈
Same thoughts here...the main reason why the democrats want the filibuster is exactly because the Republicans have turned the Senate into scorched earth. It can only get better by taking away some of their undeserved power.
What's really crazy is in Australia the government sends every 17 year old a Birthday Card that includes a voter registration form and pre paid envelope. You just fill it in and drop it in the mail and they send you a easy vote card with your local info in time for you turning 18. Then on election Day volunteers have online maps to help pick poll locations based on the quality of the sausage sizzle, cake stalls and coffee...because in Australia people spend more time celebrating with democracy sausages then queueing to vote
Damn, I would love that.

We’re no longer really a democracy, that’s what.
logoslive, its only difficult in areas where democratic voters are, and its legal!
It's not the whole of the United States, it's the Republican (red) states.
The way it works is we're a federation of states governed by a central government. So any law the federal government (top government) doesn't decide is left up to individual states to decide. That's why we have a lot of stupid patchwork laws that differ in each state.
Anyway, each state sends it's required federal monies in, as well as federal taxes from all Americans who file, and that gets portioned out to states that need federal aid money (also doled out for presidentially-declared natural disasters).
That's right, the federal government takes from the many and distributes according to the needs of the people. Sounds like socialism to me, but you won't hear a peep about it from any Republican legislator or party member, because they are EXACTLY WHO RECEIVES THE AID.
The blue states by and large pay way more into the federal government than they get back. California, if it was it's own country, would have the fifth highest GDP in the world (not sure what Mississippi ranks- ooh, burn!). They pay much more than they receive in federal dollars.
A vast majority of red states, however (coincidentally many of the same states that voted against expanding Medicaid for their needy citizens, which is federal money so I dunno wtf their problem was) take in vastly more federal dollars than they contribute, meanwhile rallying against both increased taxes AND increased wages.
And every day the infrastructure ages.
Meanwhile, these GOP Idiots cling to shiny objects and the dead legend of "voodoo economics", hoping none of their base notice the party yacht is actively sinking.
This is "American Individualism" in a nutshell:
Progressive: "Hey, would you mind paying $7 more per paycheck to revitalize the downtown business district, getting all buildings up to code and providing grants to help businesses thrive, thereby creating more jobs and more tax dollars to provide funding for things like aid for the homeless, animal shelters, roads, parks, and public art?"
America: "Umm, that's like a whole Starbuck's drink, how dare you..."

Elections are coming again you will want our votes next 4 yrs We the people.
The fact that so many Americans believe people like McConnell are fighting for them is incredible. How blinded do you need to be?
They have a R after their name. To some, that's all that matters
One thing that helps me think of it is that like, my dad voted for Trump, but he did so from a pretty clear position of ignorance. He worked more than full-time, which, when added to his commute, his hobbies, and his entertainment, meant he didn't really have time to watch the news. He was also VERY disconnected: he didn't use email, or his smart phone. He'd watch cable news sometimes, and glance at the local paper sometimes. And, as a middle class white dude working a government job with great benefits, he didn't really NEED to do more than that.
So to him, Trump was kind of an asshole, but hey, he was a very successful businessman, so maybe it'd work out, and Clinton had been a part of the government for long enough. He was ignorant of the many ways Trump violated his personal values. And you can pretty easily imagine more extreme versions of this kind of paradigm: a parent working 60+ hours a week, trying to take care of their own aging parents, just simply 'going with the flow', because from their perspective, it doesn't really matter who wins, their life is probably going to be pretty much the same.
On the other hand, my grandfather also voted for Trump, because, while being a fairly passionate man about the importance of education, he's also very ingrained with like, classic 50's mindsets, voted Ron Paul back in like, 2012 or whenever he last ran, and is a Fox News junkie.
So there's multiple ways to BE blind: you can be someone who just doesn't get the news on how these people are hurting you and people like you, you can be someone who doesn't care/believe that it's really that bad, or you can be blinded by falling into a worldview that doesn't accept the premises of these people's abuses.

On election sunday, I eat breakfast and ride my bicycle to the local school, hand over my voting card get my ballot, mark my vote in a booth, put it in the ballot box and cycle home. Takes me 20min tops and I am done, each and every time the last 25 years.
Every state in the USA is different. It only takes me 5 minutes to vote in New York, right up the street. It's almost like having all the different rules from different countries in Europe. France is very different from Deutschland, right? but you can still get there on a train. Same thing going to Georgia from New York. We even have to pay tolls to travel between states, and the laws are different.
Sounds a lot like how we vote in Canada. Sure works for me 🤷♀️
Identical situation in Ireland too!
@captain obvious - Slight suggestion, your story confused me when you said that you "drive my bicycle." A better verb would be "ride my bike" or bike can be used as a verb, "I bike to my local school". Drive is a verb that is more commonly used with motor vehicles. So when I read your story it sounded like you loaded up your bike into a car, drove the car to a local school, did the voting thing, and then rode your bike home while leaving the car at the school. Intentionally taking up parking spaces outside of the school where voting is taking place seemed like real jerk thing to do. Then I realized you were probably riding only a bicycle and this was just a miscommunication.
Hope the suggestion is received well.

Raphael Warnock's tagline 'They want to make it a crime to bring Grandma some water' resonates far more than the GOP's 'They want to cancel Dr Seuss and Mr Potato head'.
Warnock’s line is true, gop’s is false.
Dr. Seuss nor Mr Potto head have not been Cancelled, but more modern thinking. bring yourself along it is 2021 the world is growing up
Potatohead came out as nonbinary, and they can't handle it.😁
The thing is, not it doesn't. It SHOULD. But it doesn't.
A couple of private corporations made some good decisions for once, and the Rethuglicans go apeshit over air. Figures.
I especially liked that the Republican lawyer had to admit that if they weren't allowed to limit voting rights, it put them at a "competitive disadvantage ".
It's like a sociopath saying if I'm prison it'll restrict my killing spree!
Yup. They _could_ change the party to broaden the appeal of it to new voters? Nope, they'd rather break democracy.

"Republicans want to make it a crime to bring grandma some water" is one of those talking points that can stick with people and really highlight the absurdity of the GOP.
If someone faints, this will clash with Good Samaritan laws if someone gives water to someone in line for voting.
Well, I'm sure if she's white, they'll look the other way.
Agreed, this is the sort of thing Republicans make a screaming, talking point. Democrats should do this in the same way.
They sadly hate their voting base
In the UK the tories got hammered at the polls when they suggested that maybe elderly would have to sell there own homes to pay for care home costs. That was despite confirming there would be a cap to ensure they could pass on 10’s of thousands of pounds still onto children.
vote every time no matter what. tell your friends to tell their friends. the minute we get complacent it's over.
If you don't vote, the politicians can safely IGNORE you. You want them to have to give you goodies instead.

Voting seems to be the one thing in America that they want to do as slowly as possible!
I've lived in four different places in the UK and I've never taken more than 15 minutes to vote. And that includes the walk to and from the polling station.
Damn, honestly, of all his attempts at doing voices, his mitch voice is perfect.
Holy damn Seth ! You NAILED that evil ass laugh
The thing that kills me is their reason for criticizing the house voting bill. "It's a blatantly partisan bill mean to help keep them in power!" saying it as if they did not say the day before that they wanted these state bills to help them win.
I saw this title and while alone said "I'm sorry, excuse me?!". Why I was surprised I have no clue
Seth is so funny 🤣 😂 😆 ! I always enjoy watching his show.
I love hearing "Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell"; and it tickles me to know it must burn him to be considered a minority of any sort.
"Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell"
That Minority sounds so good.
Right?? It hit different lol feels great!
Sounds nice but he still basically runs the country.
I’m hoping for “disgraced ex-senator McConnell”
you bet it sounds great!
Fortunately, McConnell is a very old man in very poor health. He looks it, doesn't he? Keep that in mind. He's not immortal; no one is. Good night, Mitch!
There should just be a Nationwide Referendum on the New Voting Laws.Ask the people what they want.!!!
So, at a constant, publicly known time of year, thousands of voters in every state are expected to photocopy and send their identification in the mail? I cant see that ending bad for anyone.
What could possibly go wrong...
Right? Cause you know, identity theft isn't an issue or anything
Raphael Warnock gives me hope for the US🙏
BRAVO, Seth!
Truer words have never been said!
“I’m going to hurt Americans” McConnell. That is all I heard.
It wouldn't be anything different than what he has been doing for a long time now.
That's all the Corporate Tool McConnell has done his entire time squatting in congress
Don’t forget? Turtles can bite really hard! And that old turtle hasn’t learn how too? Be a nice turtle yet! Throw it! A fish! That way! He won’t bite!

Basically terroristic threatening if you ask me.
In the "land of the free" some politicians are trying to make it illegal to give drinks to, and talk to people in a queue? And not just during a pandemic, mind. Bizarre.

And don't forget, "in a pandemic" those same 'politicians' strongly suggest/support/infer/and show, "don't wear facemasks", and "everything that tells the truth is fake newssss"!🙃
Strangely, I was able to register, vote, and find my way out of the Civic Center in Appleton, Wisconsin in 2014, all in less than 15 minutes. Why can't it always be like that?

I think you are wonderful, awesome and good. Positive vibes from New Hampshire and remember to be kind to each other and yourself during this pandemic and social crisis.
The fact that grandma even has to be in line long enough to need water is just ridiculous.
I feel terrible how spoiled I am in my neighborhood. My voting place is 2 blocks away. Last year, I didn't even walk that far, because I was given the option to mail it, and bet your ass I did, just because Mr. Trump said not to.
Honestly, the hardest time I've ever had add the polls was having the machine not accept my ballot, and some lady came over to help me get it accepted. That took about 2 minutes. Seems like the only places that give people a hard time, are the ones trying to "Make America Great Again".
@@Danielson1818 Well you're lucky. Or perhaps luck has nothing to do with it. Some states have closed so many voting places in black communities such that the line was hours long.
The last time I went in person to vote, I was in and out in 20 minutes (including waiting in line) but in the Georgia elections, Georgia allows voters who are in line at closing time to cast a ballot and some of those people did not get to cast their ballot until past midnight (the next day).
@@bravado7 My voting place that is right up the street is a black community. It's called Saratoga Heights Housing Projects. Luckily, in New York State, we like having black people vote, because we are a dominant Blue state, so it's pretty easy for everyone. Almost all my workers that help me are black women (or my mom that worked for the polls last year). These problems are happening more often in the red MAGA states.
Greetings from Germany. We voted for our federal state parliament last week. On a Sunday - because that‘s when most people don‘t have to work. Anybody who wanted could vote by mail. I didn‘t. I just went to my voting place (our local primary school), disinfected my hands, made a cross next to the candidate I wanted, put the piece of paper into the ballot box and went home again. No waiting at all. The longest I‘ve EVER waited to vote was 15 minutes. By the way - we always vote on paper, because electronic voting can be tampered with.
@@Aine197 I live in a small town in central Florida. This last election, I stood in line for 3 hours to cast my ballot.

I think the entire country should vote like we do in Colorado. It's assumed mail in, with LOTS of drop off boxes specific to votes with the option for in person voting
