I am a recently retired American citizen. I was able to earn a pension to support myself in retirement. I am not collecting any Social Security. What surprises me about these members of Congress like MTG is that I had minimum requirements to be hired in my position I had to invest in continuing education to maintain my position. If I had done something foolish during my years of employment. Not only would I have lost my job, but I would have also lost my pension. Why are there not minimum standards for Congressional Representatives, for US senators, for Supreme Court justices?
I agree its baffling...I think she touched on it abt rep's stopped the process & said it was ok for mtg to basically say anything...& they are just trying to not do legislation till election is over...which is a dereliction of duty for any elected member of congress to do the will of the people...who put them in office..not just for the election but taking care of all issues that effect our public & nation ie: the out of control of gouaging prices on all levels...the supply issue has been long over...6$ @ a small chain.. Safeway has a 12oz squeezeable of mayonnaise for 5.76..thats crazy!! It maybe smaller, I laughed & told others..& everyone had the same uproar & gv other examples.
Especially the court justices. They have made a mockery of the institutions and have made things far worse for all of us. They pit us against each other and they are the ones we should be going against..
because they are public employees and have rights. you worked in the private sector under the thumb of superiors and had no rights at all. they could have fired you just because someone said you abused them or accused you of theft or just because they thought you were ugly. you a lucky person. they allowed you to pass. but it was all up to them. not you.

I see the end of functional governance in DC, and I have deep concern about the future of our country, Notwithstanding, I think Ms Ocasio-Cortez is a rare bright spot in Washington. She is a genuine gift, one member, along with perhaps 25 others in the House of Representatives, who may yet save the nation, and get the US back on track.

I'd really like to see a list of her congressional accomplishments.
Personally, I am hoping that J.B. uses some of his coffers to help support other Democrats or, in districts where the is very little chance a dem will be elected and where MAGA are prominent, that he will use his funds to elect other Republicans who are not MAGA.

When a young AOC burst on the scene, she impressed with her smartness and conviction in her championing of democracy. There were a couple of moments in which she wasn't fully informed about basic economics, such as the implications of economics--but nothing career killing.

The existing rules are fine and have apparently worked well for hundreds of years. They stopped the brawling and duels that were once quite common in the house.
