      I was looking for the exact same information. Why on earth wouldn't they just say the spec of the rest of the system? We know it's possible, and we know the use cases for such a build, but it's pretty irrelevant without knowing the rest of the system.@@Salman-ni6pz

      Also would have been nice to know why they flipped the MB upside down - was it required to make the GPU's fit, or just for show in this video?@@Salman-ni6pz

  • @GoldenShredGaming
    @GoldenShredGaming 6 місяців тому +14

    Imagine putting effort into a video like this, and creating this build to then leave out the spec of the rest of the system or include what troubles they encountered when building the rig. I love Be Quiet! products, and I love the concept of this video, it really interests me as I'm someone fitting the use case described, but I'm left wanting more information. I gained nothing other than 'Yes it works... But we're not going to tell you how!'

      Truly sad. Gaming is entirely GPU limited at this point, so SLI was the only way to get a true ultimate system that outran the processor. Now, games can only run as fast as one GPU can go. What happened? There's an obvious (albeit extremely niche) use case for SLI, and you would think someone would step up into that space.

    For my 'artwork' I often start with an 8k timeline in DaVinCi Resolve. When processing that stuff I generally use about 350W of my 3090 and it'll use about 97% of the GPU memory. So two of these would really make my work faster, and might actually save energy as the 4090 seems to be more efficient than the 3090. Also some of my big renders could be done at night when the weather is cooler, and be done before 4PM when electric rates go higher until 9PM.
    Two 4090's and a 64 core ThreadRipper would be my ideal rig for processing my art which actually mostly uses CPU during processing. And I'd be able to fit it into my Dark Base 900 rev2 with all the bays filled with 12 SSD's!

    You need to use 2 blower cards in one case because they throw the hot air from the back outside case.
    Not 2 open air.
    One of Those open air graphic cards will overheat because one is pushing the hot air directly into the second one. That’s why you need 2 blower cards in a single case, not open air to running into a single case.

    I believe with two Rtx 4090 you could run a 70b llm entirely loaded in vram. That would be faster than ram+unloading layers in vram, from what I read. But you will need to find a way to cool down those cards, maybe liquid, separate radiators? The way the system is setup in the video, one of the cards is cooking slowly…

      Yes it would be fine. SLI and Crossfire were ways of getting the GPUs to render frames for the screen. For GPU 3d rendering, the second card doesn't need a super fast PCI or connection to the monitor, since it's not driving the monitor, it's just chugging away on data loaded into memory.
