Good for George! He should establish himself this year, I hope he continues to do so. If Toto is wise he'll work with it. Again, I don't think Max is headed to the three pointed star so Russell is their future.

Nothing wrong with that though, he's human.
George can match Lewis this was why they always find themselves fighting each other during races. Last season stats show this and Mercedes stated that it is so. But he is weak when subjected to pressure which lead to costly mistakes (that's where Lewis has an edge over him). And there were several races where he played as a team and readily give way for Lewis, (as Lewis was fighting for second and had the mercedes priority) which lead to unconvincing results. His weaknesses can be resolved with experience and confidence that Mercedes wouldn't compromise his races for the benefits of his team mate. George, on the other hand, now has Mercedes to himself a year earlier and I feel like he wants to prove in 2024 that he's worth building upon by trying to beat Lewis. I think it'll be his biggest challenge so far. He's been ahead of Lewis in points in 2022 but Lewis had the better second half of the season. Lewis then went on to win the 2023 battle against George and he'll be keen to prove Ferrari made the right choice by hiring him. If George can beat Lewis this year, he'll be right where he wants to be, in a position to be the long-term #1 driver at Mercedes. Then he can prepare himself for what may be a title challenge, or at least for the time he'll have to go up against Kimi Antonelli.

I have found it so frustrating F1 commentators and pundits who really should know better talking about Red Bull being way out in front this season and completely ignoring the problems Ferrari and Mercedes were having that affected their race performance. Had Verstappen started in P2 and Leclerc didn't have the braking issues he had - and didn't do a Leclerc and just crash - then Max would have had a lot more difficulty streaking away out in front.
For me it's ridiculous how Russell's bad luck last year is just swept under the rug. He's an excellent driver it's not surprising what he's doing and done. Dude jumped in a car in which he didn't fit in and didn't know the buttons on the wheel and should have won the race easily.

Love the delusional LH fans making excuses already 😂 "he doesn't care anymore" if that were the case then why would he still be racing? Because he is already signed for Ferrari? Well for someone with his credentials he'd be wanting to extract the most out of any car he has under him that's what champions do regardless of how fast or slow the car is. Not saying Russell will continue to out qualify and out score him as it's way too early in the season to be talking about that but if it does happen and the same happens against Leclerc i wonder what the excuses will then be🤔
There are a few drivers that have mechanical engineering degrees, Sébastien Bourdais, Ryan Newman has it from Purdue University. Idk if George has one of any sort, but yeah...
Russell of course had the problem of Mercedes protecting the Hamilton myth it was invested in by making up excuses and making him look better than Russell when he wasn't, very often. That has changed with Hamilton signing for Ferrari and after Mercedes listened to Hamilton's design advice and it doesn't work out for Hamilton but Russell does a lot better, Mercedes can't simply support Hamilton at the expense of Russell anymore. It's litera;;y been one and a quarter race weekends... And same thing happened in '22 when George even got the nickname "Mr Saturday" and got demolished in the second half of the season. I'll understand though, that the team will definitely prioritise him over LH this season.
George is going through his Deku arc. Lewis has passed on Mercedes to George as his own power fades. I wouldn't be surprised if Hamilton wins in Abu Dhabi and points to the camera saying, "Now, it's your turn."
It's Lewis Hamilton he's a 7th × World Champion with the most Wins. He has nothing to prove at this point and the truth is as a Merc Fan who cares, Hamilton has done so much for the sport and the team that unlike his haters I can admit that he's chilling and cruising to his retirement.
He's scored two (1 sprint and 1GP and he would have had another at Sakhir in a replacement drive) in his first two years at Mercedes, and that is two more than Lewis has in those two years.
Russell is far superior to Lewis. This year Toto won’t sabotage his races. He can finally race. He thrashed Lewis in 2022 then Toto ruined 2023 to protect Lewis but 2024 same car and he’s 5 places higher than Lewis. 👍👍👍👍👍 You go Russell
Hamilton was not happy when Russel was announced he would join Mercedes as Hamilton was vocal about keeping Bottas on and Hamilton hasn't been keen to be positive about Russell's performance. I have no doubt Hamilton left Mercedes in part due to Russell and he left as soon as he could. It never works in a team when you have 2 Alpha drivers and I find it worrying for Ferrari when Hamilton joins where right from race 1 they have 2 established Alpha drivers rather than what Mercedes had when Russell joined and grew in to a Alpha driver for the team so cracks grew slowly.
I am glad people have figured out George and his antics. Terrific driver. He is doing what he is supposed to do due to F1's cutthroat nature but no need to overdo it and become overbearing. Personally, i expect Mercedes to prioritize him over Lewis. It was an uneasy announcement to make at the start of the season, but it was the right call as it allows Mercedes to go out there and make the best deals. I do not think either party (Mercedes or Lewis) should feel slighted, they both got what they wanted and everyone is happy now i guess. I know most employers enjoy having to be the ones to dismiss their employees and on the other hand they hate when an employee does the exact same to them. Unless this is a title winning season, i don't expect Lewis to care. George can beat him this year, to an 8 time world champion, i don't think that will matter much. Lewis only cares about one thing and one thing only - title winning car. The W-15 clearly is not that. The rest is unimportant from his viewpoint.
I think George, is doing what hill did in '94, "I might not be senna but, I can definitely lead the team!" George, not be might be the same prodigy Hamilton was and is but, he still very talented and i think he's well capable of competing with the likes of Lewis and max!😂😁
It has been 1 race to be fair but if Russel can just keep this up for more than 60% of the season, things wont be plain saling for ANY team mate that joins him next year. Fernando? Max? you name 'em
Russel has so much potenial. Look what he did at Williams. And did he rly do that bad so far? As the new guy next to a 7x WC? Its not like Lewis completely destroyed him last 2 years.
It feels like hamilton isnt trying in the merc now i now the car is un drivable according to him but look at russel he got some good results in qualifying and the race
LH has come across very differently this year, I get the distinct impression he is zoning-out !!He is trying to be chill about it, but seeing he tries so hard, he is coming over as awkward. This is essentially a problem of sommeone with a chip on each shoulder ..... no matter which way they look, the chip is in the way. His whole demeanor has changed this year and he, to me, does not come across as being genuine. This to me has always been his biggest failing as a "human being" .... an excellent driver, but as mouth piece and "character", he aint really personable and is simply not up to scratch. If LH is the "leader", then he needs to behave as such and not flip flop like he is doing now. George is trying to fill the void.
The leader is the person the team stands behind and give their 100% support to. Judging by their body language, you can almost conclude that George is the leader right now, as we all expected. I admit these things are always uneasy but Lewis and his team made the right call in leaking the fact that he was going to Ferrari a year in advance. Imagine if he dropped that news at the end of the year, it would have indeed felt like a stab in the back for Toto. In my view, George comes across to me as a suck up desperate to prove himself as #1 against a guy who doesn't care about competing unless it is in a championship winning car. This is not to detract from George's skills but we see his antics from a mile away and we are unfazed. When Lewis leaves, i expect Toto to bring up another alpha that will challenge George. I don't agree with this as it hurts team dynamics with unnecessary rivalries but it is good for me as a fan of the sport. Just enjoy the season.
LH looks genuinely depressed to me. He may have personal issues that he is dealing with and its showing on the track. I'm not saying that to have a go....I'm looking at his body language and he looks like he is struggling.
@@tmyersf4 any of the above scenarios you outlined is possible, however what we know is he typically struggles at the beginning of the season and GR is super quick.
Unless he can challenge for a title, I doubt Lewis wants to see Merc make huge gains this year. It would just make his job at Ferrari next year that much harder.
I'm not 100% convinced they weren't sabotaging George last year when he looked better his rookie year as well. Or at the very least, set up the cars specifically for Lewis
why would george or merc give 1 damn about what Hamilton wants or thinks ? its gona be 4 years since lewis won a championship last year he beat george as you like to point out but the previous year george beat him and hes also not the one who went behind mercs back to jump ship when things are hard. Lewis cares about lewis what he deserves is to be treated the same.
I’m pretty sure Lewis doesn’t care, he’s won everything there is to win in F1 and off to drive for the most famous motor racing team in history. Russell can have the lead spot, he’ll just bottle it under pressure like he usually does. Whoever they bring in to replace Lewis, I don’t think Russell will be the automatic no1, in fact I think he’ll be lucky if he’s considered equal to the new driver.
Remember George has won everything in the junior leagues. Those three years with Williams did him a bit and had he been in a front running car, his race craft would've been better. Look at Lando. You could argue he has better race craft than George. 2024 is George becoming more confident in a front running car and it's unfortunate it comes at a time where LH is leaving hence this image.
Please can Lewis lovers help me find excuses for Lewis being 9th and George 4th. Has Lewis used the broken seat excuse yet ? I think he did in the first race actually. How about Lewis has twisted his testicles ?
I feel at this point Lewis doesn't really care he just wants the season to end so he can join Ferrari and see if he can win races or challenge for the Championship.
I respectfully disagree, Hamilton seems washed - not done, but I really don't see him winning another championship, nor getting a bunch of podium finishes. And compared to Sainz... Carlos is just reaching his prime... I'd put my money on Sainz or Norris for a championship before Hamilton. Hell, even Checo over Hamilton. 🤷🏼
I’m happy for George and think he can lead the team in the future. However it’s still the house Lewis built. As much as George wants to lead now, when they show up to the factory all Lewis has to do is point at the wall and say you see those 100+ trophy’s in the frames , yeah bud chill out till you get more than 1
I would argue it's the house that built Lewis....... George would have won in Sakhir in 2020 in Lewis's car, if Toto didn't sabotage him with mismatched tires (when does that happen??).... and George is the only Mercedes driver to win in the last two years when they didn't have THE dominant car.

I love your videos man
Uhhh just thinking about the pros and cons of push vs pull suspension and pointy vs smooth ohlala ❤❤
Is that wiring on the roof truss to code?
Blimey! Crickey!!
George is the new Danny Ric, he'll be a perennial number 2.
Ladder Daddy!! 🔥
Hearing “regime” when talking about Mercedes… RPM intensifies e
Loving the content and great takes on whats happening in F1, but please, for the love of god do something with that nest of wires in your loft space
What I don't understand is that people always speak about Russells future.
After his performance today whew
Love your work!
George won't have to worry when Max is his teammate next year lol. Marko is the first domino.
@@tmyersf4 I think the realisation that his time has come is starting to bite ....
@@tmyersf4 any of the above scenarios you outlined is possible, however what we know is he typically struggles at the beginning of the season and GR is super quick.
Cooling problem also at williams.. merc engine.. So maybe a construction fault..
George mercedes russell🏎️
Unless he can challenge for a title, I doubt Lewis wants to see Merc make huge gains this year. It would just make his job at Ferrari next year that much harder.
I'm not 100% convinced they weren't sabotaging George last year when he looked better his rookie year as well. Or at the very least, set up the cars specifically for Lewis
Ooh...Really do you think so?!😳 But, I hardly think, Mercedes, would be so cunning to do such a thing?!🤔
@@hughwaddell5772 yes, because they were definitely above board and fair when rossberg challenged the great Hamilton 😂
Really?!@@amuroray88Even so, I still don't think the silver boys would do such a thing...
why would george or merc give 1 damn about what Hamilton wants or thinks ? its gona be 4 years since lewis won a championship last year he beat george as you like to point out but the previous year george beat him and hes also not the one who went behind mercs back to jump ship when things are hard. Lewis cares about lewis what he deserves is to be treated the same.
Yeah... Antonelli has to beat Bearman before he even gets a chance. So, let's put some breaks on that idea.
this would be such a funny vid if Max goes to merc
I’m pretty sure Lewis doesn’t care, he’s won everything there is to win in F1 and off to drive for the most famous motor racing team in history. Russell can have the lead spot, he’ll just bottle it under pressure like he usually does. Whoever they bring in to replace Lewis, I don’t think Russell will be the automatic no1, in fact I think he’ll be lucky if he’s considered equal to the new driver.
George is taking charge since Lewis is leaving. He has to at this point
Always love your content :) Love from America!
Lewis clearly doesn't have that hunger with Mercedes anymore. He laugh about it recently. Russell is in a different mentality.
I remember people saying it wss over for Lewis in 2022 and at the start of 2023 lol
I mean he's a great driver, but they're gonna be right, 2024 will probably end winless, and 2025 is gonna be hard for him as well.
Why is this always in an attic with a ladder to the roof
He is the ladder man
I respectfully disagree, Hamilton seems washed - not done, but I really don't see him winning another championship, nor getting a bunch of podium finishes.
And compared to Sainz... Carlos is just reaching his prime...
I'd put my money on Sainz or Norris for a championship before Hamilton. Hell, even Checo over Hamilton. 🤷🏼
😂😂😂 checo nice try buddy
Don't forget everyone calls Max super Max Max Max, Gorge going to lose his power seat from Super Max
Who doesn't like a good tinfoil hat? Mate you are pumping out amazing content non-stop!
I feared for the tinfoil talisman getting thrown at 9:19
He's faster than #44. NDAs are a very, very real thing in F1. Ask Derek Warwick and Lotus '85. Senna... said "no."
Oh please
Plz help us
It just shows you know jack
To what is
Racing an entertainment💯🧐💯
Lewis will have to earn a win.George doesn't have to give it to him.
“He is Lewis Hamilton, he is a 7 time World Champion.” Whoa, whoa, whoa there buddy. He is a 7 and a half time World Champion!
Oh yea, gotta remember that, lewis hamilton, 6 time world champion
Max will be there next year. With Lulu 🌈 off the team next year it will be a breathe of fresh air for Mercedes.
