Nate, you're correct. It is not safe to pump gasoline while the motor is still running. It is not only about the fuel, but it's mainly about the fumes. They are highly volatile, and if you look around at the pump, there will be one or more signs warning customers. Even with the engine off, there is still danger, as it only takes one spark... Yeah, do not use your cellphone nor the cigarette lighter while pumping gas and especially more so while the engine is running. Please encourage Nick to stop this dangerous practice! Thanks!

Never ever pump gas with the car running. The chances of it igniting are slim but it's hard on the sensor and can easily create a vacuum or a clog in the fuel pump. Plus you're in Florida! Not Alaska! You don't need to keep the engine running.
