This guy covers some good topics with his shows, and also does good interviews, but the goofball delivery approach gets old, even annoying after a while. Stick to the storyline, bud!
Yes, on my bucket list too, and I am leaving Phoenix next month on our RV and will go to Isle Royale! We will circle Lake Superior for a few weeks in the RV and then head to the park. As we have dogs my spouse will stay on the mainland with them & I am going solo. I am a bit anxious about hiking alone yet looking forward to the experience.
Nice coverage of the northern part of Isle Royale. You missed the southern end. Head over to Grand Portage, Minnesota with your 18-20 foot boat and motor across the 26 miles to the Windigo Ranger Station. Or ride the ferry boat there like you took from Houghton or Copper Harbor. This show was titled Isle Royale. Too much about the Keweenaw Peninsula.
We have a house up in Atlantic Mine. Went to Tech, but never been to Isle Royale. Definitely on my bucket list as well. The Keweenaw is awesome. There’s like hundreds of waterfalls throughout the western UP. I recommend Bond Falls. I think it’s even better than Taquamenon. We saw a moose off US 41 near Michigamme about 3 years ago.
Great job! Very informative and fun! I miss Michigan. The best summers and falls anywhere. I am in Montana which is wonderful but born in Pontiac,Michigan and long to take my family back, and Isle Royal is a main destination. Michael Koyl
Actually it was the Parvo virus. The reason dogs aren't allowed in the island. The Parvo virus brought to the island by a fisherman's dog in 1978 killed off all the wolves and left the numbers so low all the survivors were related. The last several wolves wouldn't even mate with each other and they got old and finally died off. They then imported wolves from Canada and Minnesota. They needed moose eating wolves and the wolves in Michigan only hunt small game and sick deer.

Isle Royale rules!! The crown jewel of Michigan!
Hiked it with my parents when I was 15. Wet, most of the time. It was beautiful.

America’s least visited National Park. Sounds perfect.

UYR should come to Naubinway, the northernmost point of Lake Michigan. Garlyn Zoo is world class.
The study ended a few years back, they found out inbreeding killed off the wolves. New study has started!
