How to open a PS5 disc drive

- In this video I have a PS5 that has stopped accepting discs and has something loose inside the disc drive.
I'll be disassembling the PS5 and the disc drive to find out what's causing the rattle and what's stopping it from taking in discs.

My son shoved some Switch cames in there. I think the drive is still operable because it still tries to accept discs and there's no error messages. Im geting some torx screwdrivers now to open er up.
That's crazy I would clean the rollers when you are doing that!!

I have the same problem but I'm pretty sure my son shoved some coins in there.
I've definitely opened a disc drive up to find it used as a piggy bank! The coins are a tip for my work 🤣
Took mine apart found some plastic toy coins in there took em out but it still won’t take discs in
@@kixtonjordan9521 I would check to make sure all the plastic parts are moving freely and that there's no broken tabs. Move the mechanism by hand and see if the correct switch is pressed when doing so
@ it hits both switches when I move it by hand but nothing actuates
@@kixtonjordan9521 It could be a number of issues at this point. It could be a connection issue to the main board or an issue with the motor, etc. You should leave it in with a professional repair shop for further diagnosis
ive followed multiple tutorials for this, and i feel mine is just dead. i went to play a game i never really play, unable to read disc. then a game i had in prior stopped reading. and now none do. try to clean lense, now i cant get the mechanicals of sucking in the disc to work
Hmm maybe make sure you didn't rip any of the ribin cables and maybe try to clean the rollers and re set the gears???
So what do i do if its just accepting games slowly
Mine is doing the same maby just clean the rollers?
@@Minecraftloogic This would be the first thing I'd try aswell. Clean and reseat the rollers

@@damionbaxter4912 have you tried to clean the rollers I just did it and it mine is working perfectly
