Yes I ranked it based on the performance, this is why some Spyair song that i usually love are so low on the top (I didn't especially like the Spyair first take performances) but obviously my appreciation of the original song count.
I don't think there is any bad performance in this top so Tokyo ghoul op1 / Mashle op2 I in fact considered them as great

for example the Aldnoah song performances had some out of tune portions but probably due to the singer's nervousness. Overall still good but not as good as the studio recorded version.

@@chrisgaming8846 OK I love Asphyxia but not gonna lie, I didn't like the slow version that the vocalist did for the first take, I prefer the fast-phased crazy singing but that's impossible to do in one take of course coz you'll run out of air.... plus some parts are still a bit shaky even tho they made it slower unlike the original recording

You should definitely check out Galileo Galilei! Their songs are nostalgia in music form. A good option would be the very performance of “青い栞” (Aoi Shiori) in this list with Ai Kayano, as it’s their most known song. They also have another First Take performance with their song “夏空” (Natsuzora). They absolutely nail both performances as well, imo.
But as someone who’s had their songs on repeat for the last couple of years, especially after they got back together and released a new album, I really think all of their songs are worth a listen!

For the fact that they are sometimes on stage, early on in the First Take's history, they would put big bands on this stage since they were too big to fit in the normal place (or they just changed the framing of the camera so we don't see outside the stage anymore)
(Edit: I was the one who informed you on the Unravel being overplayed thing, I understand you disagreement, I too love that song, but you don't seem to grasp how much it was overplayed. You're comparing it with In The End, I confirm to you that it was, in the anime community to put it in scale, way more overplayed than that In The End...)

Claris been around for a long while, I listen to them before they replace one of the singer and then reveal the artists' faces.
(Claris were doing the same thing of hidden their face with anime drawings just like with Daoko was and currently - Ado... this is why Ado haven't been on First take.)
BTW, have you seen Daoko's stuff. go check her out's she predated ADO as one of those independent artists that pops up in the late 2000.. starting with Yui and Eir Aoi. (okay, Yui more like discovered and she considered an OG now.)

Just putting it out there- Kuma has admitted that the ranking is incomplete because he used a playlist that didn't include all the anime songs on The First Take. So taste aside, there is going to be some strange omissions and rankings.
You need to react to the First Take of *Takanori Nishikawa* singing the *Freedom* song for the Gundam SEED Freedom movie if you haven't.

As far as I know they've done bigger First Take performances at least twice, the first one I seen was Lost in Paradise that looks to be have been done in an orchestra hall if memory serves me well.
I'm wondering if I missed something but have you ever listened/seen the OP and ED for AnoHana? I recommend checking them out! And watching the anime cause it's 11 episodes only and is pretty popular. The OP and ED for Fugou Keiji as well are pretty good! I haven't seen their First Take versions until I saw this list but the OP/ED versions are ones I come back to listen to sometimes.
You might not like the logic of why people doesn't put Unravel high up in their list but most of us don't really rank stuff based on how good they are as songs but rather, how we feel about them. Being overplayed years ago affecting people's feelings is a thing that can happen. I still love the song and it still hits when I listen to it but personally, it's not something I seek to listen to all the time.

You should check out Sirup’s first take “Thinking About Us” I love that song and his voice is just as amazing in the First Take as ever. Also, OKAMOTO’S “90’s Tokyo Boys” is one of my favorite First Takes , such fun vibes. They’re the guys you saw on that giant stage in this video.

I think with Tokyo Ghoul there's the stigma that the anime did not live up to the manga and it feeds into the op song. But it's a banger through and through

In the above list, I recommend checking out the 7th - Kokoro Odoru by nobodyknows+. They are the group that sings Naruto Shippuden OP1 and Kokoro Odoru is one of the most view First Take and is still very popular today.

Both songs and animes are definitely worth checking out.
