    Loved the behind the scenes footage in the park
    Ja I shoot on M + Auto ISO, but have found of late that sometimes I'm just a tad overexposed with certain shots. Especially back in March in Chobe I found that the camera just chose to high an ISO when we had perfect golden morning light. So either I must cap it lower, or switch to Manual ISO.
    Love Sweni hide, it's one of my favourite hides in the park.
    Going to Berg-en-Dal for a few nights in November, can't wait!

    • @MarkDumbleton
      @MarkDumbleton  Місяць тому

      Thanks for the comment Jackie. Perhaps add a little bit of negative exposure comp in golden light. It will help keep the mood of that light too (I normally shoot at -0.7 exp comp in golden light but all depends on backgrounds etc so it’s tricky).
      Sweni is great! Enjoy Kruger when you go in November! Magical!

    Another great video Mark. Agree with @thomashecht71 about your suggestion of using manual ISO in certain situations. It is easy to become complacent when using manual with auto ISO, (thinking it is one less setting to worry about), only to have disappointing results when the subject moves. Learning to slow down and take enough time for test shots to get the appropriate settings for the lighting conditions is going to be part of my strategy moving forward.

    • @MarkDumbleton
      @MarkDumbleton  Місяць тому

      Thanks so much Garnet! Thanks for watching! That technique using manual ISO is definitely something to keep in mind for tricky lighting conditions. Appreciate the comment and support as always!

    Great video again, Mark. Blown-out highlights suck - and it always happens in best situations, right?! I relied on M + Auto ISO a couple of time too many in the past. Your advice with M + manual ISO is gold.

    Thanks for the video Mark. Just have a question regarding your Heron scene explaining your choice to stick to manual ISO. Would highlight metering have helped there in order to keep auto-iso or do you think it would have then metered on the whitest white instead of the heron white?
    PS , If i may share a tip that has helped me. On my Z9 i have my fn2 set to Access top item in MY MENU which is my subject detection making it easier to switch between animal and bird quickly.

    • @MarkDumbleton
      @MarkDumbleton  Місяць тому

      Thanks for the comment 😊 I tend to prefer full manual in scenes with constant lighting and white birds, and perhaps highlight metering may have helped to achieve a slightly better metering of the scene, and can be used but it’s so difficult getting the camera to meter properly because of the changing backgrounds.
      Thanks for the tip on the fn button. I’ve since changed mine to make it easier like you suggest 😊

      Hi Craig, thanks for watching and for the comment. Sweni hide is awesome, and there were hippos but more towards the far right. I love the 180-600. It’s super versatile and really sharp for a super zoom.
      That’s a tricky choice whether to get the 100-400 or 180-600 with the 500 pf. Have you got 2 good bodies?
