100% agree with you on the detachable cable thing! I've had so many cables die or fray over the years and having a detachable cable not only extends the life of the peripheral, but also if you need to remove the keyboard for whatever reason; having a keyboard you can easily unplug without undoing all of your cable management saves you so much time!
Needed to get to know the keyboard before I buy it, this review has helped me so much, especially with the RGB section which answered all my questions according to my colour scheme.
The print screen button is used for creating a screenshot that is saved to the clipboard. The scroll lock is supposed to disable/enable scrolling with the arrow keys. (Still used in MS Excel) The pause button can be used to pause a video (if implemented by the player), it can be used to pause the output of a program, or it can be used to pause a recording (If implemented by the software). Today the scroll lock and pause button are not used anymore.

Your review was the reason I bought this keyboard and honestly, like always, your review did not let me down, I have had this keyboard for over 1.5 years and dont regret the buy at all!
Most lighted keyboards will have their legends an the top because that's where the light is typically located in Cherry style mechanical switches. The top left alignment of the legends date back to the late 70's and 80's when keycaps display the extended characters they can output. The keycaps are actually divided into 4 quadrants with the upper left for the primary character and the 3 remaining quadrants for the characters generated when the key is pressed with a modifier (i.e. Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Option). The characters are either special graphics character sets, symbols, or other extended character sets used to support non-English languages such as Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc.

I got this keyboard about 18 months ago and i gotta say, do NOT buy this keyboard. The volume scroller/knob started giving me unreliable inputs about a year ago - not a super big deal, I'm not changing my volume too often and it works well enough for its purpose. However, a few weeks ago my A and Q keys started randomly not registering or double and even triple registering keystrokes, since then more of my keys have had the same issue. I have the "red" switches on the keyboard, not the special adjustable ones. Due to the proprietary nature of their switches and not having the switches for sale on their own, I have not been able to find replacements for the broken switches. I should also note that the N key rollover claims are questionable as when I play Overwatch I frequently have trouble moving around and activating my abilities
Thanks for that, the Aex 7 is off my list. Back to head scratching.... I was thinking about the Hyperx Elite 2, but seems to have some rgb bleed and keys not the best quality.

just beacus of the small wrist rest of the mk750.. she's even worth the comparison??
Do you prefer cherry mx browns or gateron browns?
Left aligned letters irks me a bit too lol. My main issue is if the symbol characters are brightly illuminated because I've a corsair k65 tkl which I love overall, except the symbols are not brightly lit up and its hard to clearly make them out if my room is not completely dark.
thanks for the review.
i use the SCROLL LOCK = since i link my pc and laptop screen, i move my mouse around the two. i mainly use my PC and when im playing a game on my PC and want to disable my mouse from moving to my laptop quickly, i press SCROLL LOCK and my mouse will just stay on my PC screen. if i need something done on my laptop, i press it again. :). thats the use of my SCROLL LOCK.
ill be honest i never even knew what that button does LOL
@@truthtimetv4575 yeah. It just traps or locks/untraps or unlocks your mouse pointer on the current screen its on if you are using multiple screens. :)
Does anyone have any views between Steelseries APEX 7 TKL vs Logitech G915 TKL? Deciding which one to purchase during Black Friday
I use Pause/Break most of the three (win + Pause/Break), for print screen I use win shift s and I only need scroll lock in excel so hardly ever use that
Hey what would you recommend? this keyboard or the hyperx alloy origins core? :)
@@SwitchandClickOfficial oki, probably gonna go for that then, thanks for answer :)
@@klovnfight dont go apex 7 ar way better.
I was a bit put off by lack of printscreen but easily solved using steelseries engine
Wait hold up Im kinda late i am trying to buy this but is it really that small!?!! bc i thot it was too big for my desk
It's not that small, it's TKL
I have a SS m750 tkl with qx2 switches. Im looking for an tkl keyboard for an upgrade. How would the hyperx reds fare with the apex 7 reds? Do you think its an upgrade coming from the m750?
@@SwitchandClickOfficial thanks for replying. Do you think its worth it upgrading from linear reds to hyperx reds? Or is it just same? I was debating either getting hyperx core or huntsman but I kind of prefer the build quality and price of the hyperx.
@@SwitchandClickOfficial I have been using it for almost 2 years now. I don't have any problems with my keyboard but I am looking for an upgrade.
This is one or apex pro? In quality and sound
I got this keyboard for my Birthday!
Does this have single key lighting ? Or zone lighting only? Would love to know since no one has mentioned this in the review
Single lighting
Which do you prefer Steelseries Apex 7 TKL or HyperX Alloy Core Origins?
@@SwitchandClickOfficial I'll trust your verdict.. Thank you!
Hii do you still have this keyboard? Is it worth buying in 2023?
You do actually need to download software for the Oled screen to do more than just basics. Printscreen is useful for game cap picture
i set mine up to display CPU and GPU temps, i love this feature
Is it fast like the apex pro? And is it Worth switching from anne pro 2?
I think it’s better than anne pro two, it isn’t as fast as apex pro though
@@aidencortez5490 i have already sold anne and bought huntsman Tournament edition
I use Print screen all the time to take screen shots but I guess that function can be reassigned
Do you think the cable will break easily. Im just worried that ill have to replace it
Not likely unless you abuse it
Don't think you can keep the USB passthrough without having a cable that thick and tethered.
I agree
@@SwitchandClickOfficial whats the usb pass through for?
