All welding/fabrication questions are answered on the website www.6061.com (not here in the comments section) Please note, this is a practice exercise to improve your torch hand control. These welds aren't as strong as adding filler rod, but are acceptable in lots of scenarios (welding on badges/logos, drawers, trays, anything that won't be under a lot of stress). Use 3003 or 5052 for this exercise. You can do it with 6061, but it is a lot more prone to cracking. Thanks for watching
Man I gotta say I love watching you weld stuff. A kid that just got out of weld school, I showed him a video of yours and he is super impressed. I don’t weld but I really want to when I can afford a rig, so many things I want to try. Thanks for your inspiration ✨💫💎
I'm surprised everyone doesn't start here. It's where the TAFE college I went to started with stainless,, aluminium and mild. It was to the point we had to run a reasonably straight, even line in the middle of a plate before we were allowed to attempt a join.
Using the tig button has been a lifesaver when doing stainless dairy stuff. Do you have any examples of jigs and fittings for back purging stainless that you have made over the years? I've made some out of copper that get clamped into place with a slight recess for the argon to flow, was just wondering if you had some interesting jigs for inside corners of boxes. Thanks for always sharing the knowledge.
He's really the best aluminum welder I have ever seen. I'm working very hard to mimic his work. He's also very a very clever fabricator, and I share that with him. Very impressive man.
I just watched that copper mug video, and you made that nice ass mug and poured in that cheap ass root beer😂, look... you do fantastic work and im NOT being negative but that shit made me laugh so hard. Thanks for that
Hello. My name is Dan I worked in research at the Welding Institute in Romania . For over 30 years I have been working with aluminium welding. I have a question for you: Do you weld with both hands? I mean are you both dexterous? I would be curious in heavy positions how you handle. For example overhead or vertical upward tilt right 45* with forward lean 45*. Do you hold the cathode spot to plus, minus or 0? What AC frequency do you have it set at? According to what do you adjust it and why?
We just had a 48ft Hensley feed trailer try and throw its 40ft 12in in diameter unloading on the ground. Ripped away from a weld at the base. Weld was still totally intact. Perfect. Not enough heat penitration??? Probably close to 2500-3000lbs in the air. Operator just about didn't get it lowered back in the saddle. After the fact scared the crap out of him since he was standing underneath getting ready to unload feed. Gad to take it back to the manufacturer with 48,000lbs of feed, fully loaded, to get it repaired.
Rumour has it he has been tig welding for a 115 years and eats argon for breakfast. I still have a 110 years to go but I dont think I will ever weld that good without filler
Fusing welds usually do look better on aluminum the filler rod is from a different batch of aluminum so when you fuse it the 2 metals are usually the same batch and create a real Shiney look to the weld and you can get nice smooth welds all the way down the material. You should try it pretty fun exercise but not the strongest as you can see

Another great video! Would have liked to see all the arc shots, I never get tired of watching the puddle

Great tips, as always!
Thanks for putting up another video.

Another excellent video, thank you!

Nice work sir
I have a tig button now, but need to get unlazy and it hooked up lol
Would you like to try our ac/dc machine, the top machine for welding aluminum

Luar biasa, 👍
When I tig welded aluminum for back in 1988, the bosses said "It's going to be painted camouflage, we don't want it pretty, we want it fast". 😮

Master 6061 que medida de tugsteno recomienda y los parametros para soldar placa de 1/4
you are good so nice to watch i would like to be half as good

Some say...... in a Clarksonesque voice.... he's called The Tig!!
Now he's just trying to make most of us feel bad, his no filler welds look better than most peoples welds with filler used 😞

Makes sense, it’s like learning to rub your belly and patting your head. Do one first then do the other, lol.
Will 6061 T6 actually weld like that without cracking?

Fab shop in a truck; Nascar ? Yes, that DEF sucks, especially when that catslitic crap clogs and derates you to 30 mph.
