TIG Welding Aluminum Fabrication - Making a Custom Thermostat Housing/Water Neck
Вставка

- The stock water neck puts the hose clamp in an awkward position that is very difficult to access, and it's made out of thin stamped steel. The previous person that worked on this truck over tightened it, which made it no longer flat.
The new water neck has a sturdy 3/8" thick flange for a better gasket seal, is taller and angled slightly more to the right. This allows for easy access to the hose clamp.
The previous person put the hose clamp on the stock water neck at an angle that made it inaccessible without removing the air conditioning compressor. I ended up breaking the hose clamp off with a flathead screwdriver and hammer, then installed a new hose clamp on the new neck. The radiator hose also needed to be shortened a few inches.

Nice. My son just made new 3" aluminum intercooler tubes for the diesel - replacing the old 2.5" tubes. Now everything is 3" from turbo to intake manifold.
I need a better son, mine walks around shirtless all day telling me no. Kid can’t even wipe his own ass.
Beautiful fabrication. Sometimes the smaller fabrications are just as challenging and can be very rewarding when completed.
Therapeutic to watch 👍👍
I learn so much from these videos. I haven’t been able to figure out how to tig aluminum yet, but the little fabrication clips show tons of neat little tricks. Thanks

As long as there is a full gasket with that flat shape everything should be fine. Awesome work.
As always, Niiiice!!!!! Also lovin the new question and answer vids. If you happen to need any questions for other videos, how to not get pinhole at the end of a weld.
"pinhole" or "crater"?
Craters are explained in detail on the website
As always, beautiful work! I learn something from every one of your videos.
Not that all the other vids aren’t awesome but great camera work on this one.
You make Tig welding look so easy
Really nice work!
That's awesome. I need two of those, but one at stock height for my jeep. Stock ones are a terrible design, surprised they ever sealed.
Loved the port and polish on the inside of the tube!
Love! Watching the craftsmanship! Well done as usual!
digital calipers should come with buttons for dividing by half. need a quarter? just do half twice.
Yeah, those Dodge water necks are way too short. Sweet video💪🏆
Top Job, Sir👌
Beautiful work as always🎉
Great looking work. Thank you.
Great work sir 👏 😊
this man never disappoints with these awesome videos
Really nice work
For his pleasure, lets say. Good video. Great build!
Bro, your work is so clean and I appreciate your setup. That table with the two routers is slick as shit!
Wow that internal weld 👌🏻

Awesome.
I wish I could click "like" more than once
Sweet!
so beautiful. im gonna steal some tips from this- i hope thats ok.
Nice
Круто, молодец !
Still 6061 alloy? Filler match or 4043? I guess engine coolant is more forgiving than seawater.
Брат если можеш показывай сварочную ванну через фильтр. Заранее спасибо. Удачи👍👍👍
Amazing once again did the weld foul the nuts at all or clear it ok👍🏻
Had to barely slice into the weld with a cutoff wheel to get the stock bolts to sit flat (the install was done off camera at a different location). Probably could've used narrow headed allen bolts and been ok.
fucking professional god damn
I've never seen a Vernier with fractions on before, to be honest I don't know if mine does because it's never used on imperial measurements just metric
👍
I mean I’m sure that part was probably around 12$ for the original, and you made an upgrade for 800$.
I could have used that 20 years ago.....
Quality fabrication videos without some dudes face constantly in the vid starting off with What's up everybody 😂
You're not wrong there
can you do this job for me on a thermostat housing? i need one made from the old one just like that one in the video
Use a constant tension hose clamp?
0:58 What calculation do you do to take the exact center?
Is it sad that I knew what motor it was for before I made it to the end of the video? lol
