About the age of the girls when presented: Colin is said to be 21 this season, so he was 20 last season. Daphne is right behind Colin in age of the Bridgerton siblings, meaning she was 19 at most, when she got married in season 1. Eliose is right behind Daphne in age and in season 1 Penelope said that Violet Bridgerton had allowed Eloise to make her debut a season late to concentrate on her studies some more. I would take all of that to mean that young women make their debut and try to find a husband at the ripe age of 17-18
Age of debutantes was around 16-18 years old, it depended on more factors. Some girls were out once they were 15. Lydia Bennet as the youngest daughter was and favourite of her mother attended balls as a 15-year-old, but it was stated in the text that she was considered too young to be in society. Usually, girls were not supposed to find husband immediately, they marry as 18 year-old or older (however, 26-27 year-old women were regarded as "too old" and likely to be spinsters). Younger girls could have marry (even before their debut) without their parents' consent in Scotland. They were cases of kidnapped heiresses forced to marry. Otherwise, you needed approval of your parents or guardians. It was customary for men to ask for his betrothed's father blessing. On the other hand, men were supposed to wait. It was because men were supposed to provide for their wives and children. If you were not an heir, you usually did not have a position when you could marry. Due to studies etc., you have to wait until you were 25 years old, sometimes even 30 years old. Even men who were heirs to estates did not usually marry as young as women did, but it happened sometimes. Wife's dowry was usually intended for the daughters and as a pin money fór wife (married women were basically ried to their husbands regarding law, pin money was a little sum just for them). Realistically, Colin as a third born son would have to be employed. We never hear of any estate of distant cousins' which could be inherited by Benedict or Colin. While both brothers likely have a good sum of money, they would not be provided for by their brother long-term. Brothers only provided for unmaried sisters and for brothers in young age (hello, Gregory). Once the heir provides for his brother's education, his duty Is over. Benedict and Colin are supposed to study ať a university. Respectable professions were in military or as clergymen, other possibility was law, sailoring, and medicine (funnily regarded as the least respectable). Business was scandalous, being looked down upon, but Is definitely an option.

One thing that makes me hope they go for all eight seasons is looking forward to Hyacinth's story. First, it's just being plain fun and a romance where the couple actually gets together very quickly and the rest of the book is focused on them being a badass couple with a story about them having an adventure together and not a will they won't they we know will end up together. But even better is that Gareth - Hyacinth's love interest - is Lady Danbury's grandson, guaranteeing another black main character. 12:24 Daphne is 21 in season 1 and when she got married. Eloise was 18 in season 1, and is now 18-19 (not sure of the time jump). Kate is considered to be an “old maid” or too old to marry at 26. (Meanwhile Anthony was 29-30) but in the books Kate was 21. Edwina is 17 in the books and is likely around the same age in the show. (So Edwina is probably 17-22). Which as young as that seems, is not the youngest women have gotten married. Women at some point in time, got married almost immediately or as soon as possible after they got their period. The youngest to have ever gotten married, according to Google, was around 11 years old. (This is not including royalty or nobility back when they just signed a paper and gave the husband the dowry after the father (of the bride) was paid around the same amount of money the dowry is worth. The fact that this implies that you are buying your wife, is just a bit messed up).

Fun Fact: The List that Anthony wrote with all the Ladies has a Lady Julia (a romantic) and a Miss Quinn (an exceptional writer) on it. Julia Quinn is the author of the Bridgerton books. :) And also, back then they said six-and-twenty to twenty-six. I don't know when they changed it but in Germany we still say six-and-twenty (sechs und zwanzig). And i really hate that. It is so much easier to say twenty-six, because you write the 2 first. Also women was responsible of the house, finance, dealing with money for the family survival. I don't know the extend of math they knew in lower classes, but finance was for sure
I missed you guys!!! love this review...don't know what this says about me since I have watched Bridgerton S2 maybe 5 times....but I loved it was a truly refreshing change of pace...loved the speed courting section with Anthony and the debutantes...hilarious! Kate shines from the start & challenges Anthony which is great as their scenes highlight their magical chemistry
You asked how debutantes differentiate themselves. Simple answer: they don't! Long answer: It was a uniform, just like little girls at Communion. Sleeves neckline, color, even the train. They were given a list of measurements that they had to follow to the inch, even the height of the three feathers which apparently absolutely everyone loathed wearing. The Three feathers are on the top of the king's coat of arms even today, and represented the girls' loyalty to him. Their only choices were fabric cut and trimmings, and I'm not even sure about the fabric. I would be surprised if a girl like Eloise didn't take a month of classes, to learn the requirements of walking into the room, curtsying, and withdrawing , because there was a whole separate set of rules about every step you took in the room, the curtsy had to be perfect and when you rose you had to kick the train with your foot so you didn't trip over it as you backed out without turning your back on the king and queen. I wanted to make a joke about how you'd know that, BuT ya basic! But I won't Actually, why the heII do I know this? I'm just a guy from America, I blame Jane Austen.
I loved the first four episodes, then everything went a bit downhill. The book was so much better, the main characters had more time together, more depth, because of scenes that were not in the show. This wasn't a historical romance, they turned it into a drama. But great acting, great chemistry, wonderful costumes.

The "Older sister, younger sister thing you mentioned at around 10 minutes, is called the "Taming of the Shrew" trope.
Guys, i hope you liked the second season more than the 1st as i did, because it is getting better! Can't wait to see your reactions to this season🤩
This season had a more emotional impact than the first season
5:50 I, too, have been looking intently at Benedict since last season lmao
🥰🥰 he’s bae!
There were so many times this season where I thought “omg I can’t wait to see how rizzo and benji react to this” so I’m so excited that it’s finally here!! Once again, top tier entertainment! Hope you’re both doing well, and thank you for putting so much work into these reactions for us!!💖
Thank you!! We’re so glad you enjoy watching these with us as much as we do lol, we’re always so excited to share them after we finish ☺️☺️
Can’t wait! I like to watch it with reactors because then I feel like I’m watching it with my girlfriends haha
Yesss 💅💅✨
Same.
Same here :D
Same. Somehow none of my real life friends like any of the shows I do, so reactors are my lifeline when I need that sense of community.
Already watched the compilation video and rewatching the separate ones to get the views up. You two deserve the world. Love you
❤️❤️🙌🙌
sooo excited to see your reactions to this!! season 1 was a 7/10 for me but season 2 is definitely 11/10 AT LEAST lol
There were so many scenes in which Lady Danbury appeared and I screamed “bad bitch in reeeeeeeed” and this was all to you lol.
Hahaha it’s the only thing we can call her now 😂
Yes!!!
The queen is a caricature at this point… her wigs are the show!
They’re sooo good this season!!
They are characters itself! 😁
Fun Fact: The List that Anthony wrote with all the Ladies has a Lady Julia (a romantic) and a Miss Quinn (an exceptional writer) on it. Julia Quinn is the author of the Bridgerton books. :)
And also, back then they said six-and-twenty to twenty-six. I don't know when they changed it but in Germany we still say six-and-twenty (sechs und zwanzig). And i really hate that. It is so much easier to say twenty-six, because you write the 2 first. I guess that change never reached Germany...
In Czech Republic they use both, which is even weirder
Crazy! At least it is not as bad as the French count. “soixante dix neuf” (Sixty-ten-nine which is 79). They are doing math instead of basic numbers.
the mean girls audio was chef’s kiss 👩🍳 💋🤌🏻
2:39 what was he saying though? 😂 I need to work on my reading lips.
I think he was saying, “that’s her. That’s lady Whistledown. That right there. That’s her.” Or thereabouts 😂
I watched the entire season in one sitting and having an existensial crisis afterwards, like, what am I supposed to do until Season 3 comes out? Lol. But this way I get to experience it again with you guys.. and though there are MANY Bridgerton reaaction videos out there, yours are by far the ONLY one that I'm looking forward to the most. I can't tell you how many times I thought "Hmm.. wonder what would Rizzo and Benji say about this?" the entire time I watched season 2.
Not Rizzo and Benji looking like a dynamic duo from The Disney Channel in the thumbnail.
🥰🥰🥰
I’m so happy you found you guys to share my obsession for Bridgerton hahaha
definitely excited to see your reaction to season 2
Ok but rewatching these since Jonathan Bailey was cast as Fyiero in the WICKED movies. My god-he’s perfect for the role. I recommend checking out his musical theater work because he sings beautifully, and honestly should win an Oscar for convincingly making the straights fall in love with him LOL. Lastly, his pride and openness he has about being part of the LGBTQ+ community makes my heart so happy! We need more people like him!
Finally! Your channel blew up with your Bridgerton reactions! Now Season 2 is here to propel you guys to new heights! You deserve to be watched by A LOT MORE people! 🙌
🤞🤞 please please please!! 😂
Your editing skills **chef's kiss**
So excited!!! This is the reaction I've been waiting for!
I just finish season 2, can't wait to see all your reaction!!! Jonathan Bailey is amazing actor omg, some scene he didn't need say a word just with his expression gossh i love him so much.
i'm gonna stay up till 4am to watch this video when it drops i'm dead serious
Let’s goooo!! Haha we appreciate it, but no hard feelings if you fall asleep 😂
Aaah!! So excited! Can't wait to watch this before visiting Villa Bridgerton here in my country ❤️❤️. Thank u!!
Oh heeeeey, I'm from the Philippines too!!
@@blainevanity6 eey!! Hi kababayan!!!
Jonathan and Simone MADE this season. ❤️
4:53 That's actually her natural accent. She's irish in real life
This season was so beautiful!!! Everyone did so amazing and I love Kate and Anthony and there story was so 😢😢
For me Season 2 is the best. Kanthony’s chemistry is the best so far, just oozing in every scene❤❤
If you've ever watched BBC's Merlin, the actor who plays Leon plays the new Lord Featherington!
Ooohh, I did watch that! -Benji
my reaction when i saw his name in the credits was just "Sir Leon!!! He lives!!" XD
@@JessicaBiilor Didn’t he basically go immortal XD
Wait whaaaat? That's sir Leon? I've seen both shows multiple times and I never noticed it!
i loved jonathan baileys acting since i saw him in crashing and i loved him here. hes so incredible in bridgeton ahhhh
Benji smacked the heck out of his hand and said go back in the corner and dance alone 😂😂😂😂😂😂
5:46 always had a crush on Benedict, but at this point its pure love for Luke (the actor). So you are not alone there. Ben & Benji, sounds about right! 😍😁
And you guys need to dress up like them, just for the occasion. Sir Rizzo & Sir Benji 😁❤️
Cool idea! And do your accents during that whole session! Yes! Right??
YESSSS I’VE BEEN SO EXCITED FOR THIS! Your Bridgerton videos are how I discovered your channel! I can’t wait for you guys to see what the Queen and Eloise have in store for this season
We’re reeeady 🤓🤓
13:26 Normally I'm not one for a posse but I'd love to be part of one for Queen Charlotte (thought they're called ladies in waiting).
Agree!
And they are, but all that came out was ladies lol
The funny part is that the actress who plays Penelope isn’t British, I believe she’s Irish or Scottish so her accent is very noticeable in certain scenes
The accent Penelope put on is a Dublin accent, and is a nod to the fact Nicola is Irish 😅it’s an easy accent to do if you’re Irish
Y’all I been waiting Legit checking everyday for this truely a blessing
We’ve got you! …it took a sec but WE GOT YOU!! Lol
This made me smile all the way through 😊 you so much really means a lot been dealing with things and this shed a little light. Can't wait for more content
Y'all are doin the lord's work bc I have a hole in my life after binging this season. I loved it so much T_T
Hahah we’ve got you! ✝️✝️
Not the Saw music 😂😂 5:24 had me dead
5:23 bravo! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Ahhhhhh I can't wait! Got my masala chai and scones ready!
"Make me burn for you Bridgerton season 2" was just too much for me hahahahahahaha
Loooove Jonathan and Simone, they were incredible. However because I'm a book reader I'm superrrr disappointed in all the changes they made 😥 it's SOOOO different and my hopes were a bit crushed.
😞😞
I’m excited to see you guys react to this. My emotions got played so hard from this season. Everything was so good. It was literally better than season 1.
well i don't know how much historical study they make, but her irish accent for a costume is a good hiding and also that she good at math. As a history student, mostly specialize in the 19-20 century, with all the political between irland and England, they did was mostly in the working class. Also women was responsible of the house, finance, dealing with money for the family survival. I don't know the extend of math they knew in lower classes, but finance was for sure
17:55 Benji should do this "word of the day" per episode of Bridgerton because I am hyped!!! Please do more of those!!
Also Rizzo’s face when he was giving examples 😀
But I won't
Actually, why the heII do I know this? I'm just a guy from America, I blame Jane Austen.
This season as a stand alone, was fantastic. Compared to the book I was disappointed. But I loved Anthony and Kate.
I loved the first four episodes, then everything went a bit downhill.
The book was so much better, the main characters had more time together, more depth, because of scenes that were not in the show.
This wasn't a historical romance, they turned it into a drama.
But great acting, great chemistry, wonderful costumes.
22:09 she’s either her stepsister or her half sister.
Ahhh this season was so beautiful! Have already watched it probably six times from start to finish and been waiting on your upload! 💜✨
I need to know where you got your hoodie Rizzo!!! I love it!! I love yalls reactions, I'm so ready to go through this season with you both! ♡♡
The actress for Penelope when she’s doing her whistledown voice is actually the actress’s real accent. She put on a British accent for the rest of the show.
"You're 16, YEEEETTTT!" Favorite line.
