  • In this video work on a 95 Jeep yj. we replace the lift shackles, exhaust pipe, diagnose the fuel gauge problem, and change the tires.
    I attribute my successes to god and give him the glory.
    For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of god: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which god hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

    Glad you’re letting daughter do some of the work, then she has a better appreciation of what’s involved to repair vehicles,plus valuable lessons learned.

      The best way to learn about your vehicle is to take it apart and put it back together. I try and give the shortcut information but some things you need to do to get.

    Awesome seeing other people getting their kids involved in vehicle repair. Props to Her for getting involved too, most kids now are too lazy. Or just don't care! And explaining why not to do crazy cosmetic changes when the vehicle bones can't handle it. None the less great video as always and you both keep up the great work!

      Thank you sir, I actually got a pretty good sun burn from the welder. It was part of the deal to get the Jeep that she had to do the work on it if she wanted it. I find the best way to learn is to get in there and do it.

    I bought a '80 Eagle in -87 (blown motor) and had to do the same thing. Un-Jeep that Jeep Eagle. Was able to grab a trunk full of parts when AMC was going under. Sold the project for a grand profit of $150 bucks. Should have just kept that damn thing and I'd be shitting in high cotton today.

    I have 32 inch tires on my Jeep YJ. It has no problem pulling 5th gear. Mine also has a 4 cylinder in it. If you have a problem pulling 5th gear it maybe your transmission, not the tires.

    Those leaf springs have a really big arch to them, that could also be affecting the angle of the drive shaft too. I have a YJ with stock leaf springs that I just replaced, and they don't have that big of an arch. I also recommend getting rid of the 4x4 vacuum system and replace it with the Posi-Lok system, easy upgrade too. Nice YJ btw.

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  2 роки тому

      I think your right, the springs are lift springs too. It’s one of those things that get expensive either way you go. To go back to stock it would require different springs and to keep going it needs a slip yoke eliminator and a different drive shaft. It still has some vibration. It’s a little better but not very good.

      For the most part it’s in good shape.....aside from what the previous owner did to it. Those tires were a bit too big for that engine. It is better now.

      Thank you. Hey I once had to make a delivery of drywall to revere. It was my first day and the guy That was training me had me on the highway and there was this bridge that was marked around 13 feet and most of the boom trucks were 13’6”. So I asked the guy how tall the truck was and he said he didn’t know 😳. We fit so that was good.

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  3 роки тому

      Yeah it has lift springs in it. It still has a vibration from the drive shaft, but the only way to get rid of it is to get lower lift springs or a slip yoke eliminator and a double cardan driveshaft. Neither of which is very cheap. I guess it just has too much lift in it still.

    You should have went with 33 tires. Though I have 31s. But my lift is 1 1/2, Superlift. It looks balanced.

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  2 роки тому

      These tires were used and came with the wheels all powder coated for a pretty good price. It was more a cost thing, and I didn’t think it was going to sit so high after removing the shackles either.

      I bought a 95 YJ 4 banger that came with 33’s. I want to go down to 31” to get better road speed in 5th gear

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  2 роки тому

      That’s basically what we did with this Jeep. It had 35 inch tire and I think they were 14 wide, but it wouldn’t accelerate in 5th at all on flat ground. It’s alright off road but your going 45-50 on road. I had a cj7 years ago but it had a amc 360 in it so tire size wasn’t a problem.

    What about the Dodge? Did the frame get sand-blasted yet?

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  3 роки тому

      It has not. I’ve been trying to find a southern frame instead. I’m on my third salvage yard to try and get one from. The first one still has me waiting from a month ago for photos and the second one took a deposit and had to refund me 5 days later because they didn’t actually have it. I’m waiting on a third place in North Carolina to get some photos, if they even have one. A lot of my concern is getting it inspected for a replacement vin and not being able to get the numbers off the frame if I sand blast and paint it. This is my last try though, if they don’t have it I’m going to just go ahead and paint this frame. It will actually be more to sand blast and paint this frame then to get a southern one so that’s why I’m trying to just get another one.
