  • A walk through on how to install a Firestone no drill air bag kit. The kit installed is a Firestone Ride-Rite 2250 air bag kit. It is a no drill, axle mount air spring kit. Other no drill kits will install in a similar fashion and this is a good reference video on how to install a Ride-Rite kit. Highly recommended to watch before you start installing your air bag kit, especially if you have a Firestone 2250 Kit.

    I put the extreme duty version on my truck with 250 psi of nitrogen and use a weight distribution hitch, Timbren, add a leaf, and overload springs. All together, I increased the weight capacity of my Tacoma to 65,000 lbs. I pull a 2022 DRV Santa Fe 5th wheel converted to a bumper pull. I have no problem steering now.

    I have a 2008 Sprinter that came with the Ride Rite Air Springs. Lately I loose air pressure after about 5 minutes. I did the soapy solution spray on all fittings and no bubbles. Is it possible that the air springs (bellows) themselves could develop a leak? I sprayed all over the block where the three hoses come together. Does the tubing simply pull out after pulling on the brass fitting? I haven't tried that. I have a tubing cutter like in the video and I think I might cut a half inch off each tubing and re-seat them. Suggestions?

    Used truck I bought I think has these and compressor was going out so they disconnected it. Is that dangerous?

      Firestone air bags are designed to run with a minimum of 5-10 psi depending on the kit. Running them without air will cause damage to the air bags. If you are concerned about something you are disconnecting being dangerous we recommending having a repair facility take a look at it first.

    Really looking into these kits. I have a lifted truck and don't know which would be better for my purpose. Axle mounted or Spring mounted? I will be towing camper trailers more often now. I first realized how bad and dangerous my truck is when I towed my wife's car from TX to ID. The squat sucked! Any help appreciated.
    Thanks!

      Just have to mention that doing this install on a 09 GMC 3/4 Dmax 4x4 Crew part # 2250. FYI use the reg bolt on the bottom of the bag not the wedge allen head bolt like this guys did. and leave it loose and once everything is on and centered you can get a box head wrench on it to tighten. Everything else is easy and straight forward.

    i have a 1500 Silverado ON A 3.5'' lifted can I still use these bags ????

      Yes, in most cases a helper bag kit can be used with a lift. You will need to add a spacer to accommodate the extra height. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions. It may require some measurements to confirm as not all lifts will increase the height on front and rear equally.

    Could I install a kit like this on my 02 duramax if I were to put a 6 inch lift on it? Or would I just have to make spacers for the bag brackets?

    • @Truckspring
      @Truckspring  3 роки тому +1

      We have multiple options for air bag spacers that will allow you to install an air spring kit with up to a 6" rear lift. It is common to use a lifted truck to tow, so both Firestone and Airlift have made spacers to accommodate them

    What pressure do I use in these when I have no load? Do I keep it at 50psi? Or 5psi?

    • @Truckspring
      @Truckspring  4 роки тому

      It will depend on the ride that you prefer. The majority of our customers prefer to keep it at the minimum psi, around 5-10 psi, so it does not impact the ride quality when not loaded.

    Could I install on my 2014 F150 that has 2 inch lowering shackles on the rear?

    • @Truckspring
      @Truckspring  3 роки тому

      It is not recommended to install a standard air spring kit on a lowered truck. The bag can be pinched and damaged by being over-compressed. There is an option for your application that covers lowered trucks. If you are interested please give us a call.

    I just installed the RideRite Air Bags on my 2017 F-150. I’ll be pulling a 9000lbs travel trailer. What PSI would you recommend I inflate the bags to?

    • @Truckspring
      @Truckspring  6 років тому

      For Ride-Rite kits, we typically inflated them to 50 psi and connect the trailer and then adjust up / down to the designed ride height. It will take a few test drives to dial in the air pressure for your specific truck and trailer and what ride works best for you.

    Does a screw on air hose work? Or only a press on to fill?

    • @Truckspring
      @Truckspring  3 роки тому

      The inflation valves that are included in the kit use a standard schrader valve thread so a screw-on inflation valve could be used.

    Kit 2597 is it going to install the same way?

    • @Truckspring
      @Truckspring  3 роки тому

      The 2597 will use a different upper bracket so it will install through the frame horizontally instead of on the bottom of the frame. The upper bracket will wrap around the frame and position the bag in the same location on the axle.
