This episode stuck with me when I saw it almost 10 years ago. I felt for the husband and sons and didn't like her at all. I still feel the same, she only came back because she got dumped and was desperate..
Rich did not want to embarrass her on camera....he was & been done. He was trying just for his boys to heal
I believe she comes back when the other person dont want her and then when they get back on good terms she leave its not about her wanting her family back its about being stable until something better comes along

33:20 ish point when iylana explains why the mom yells and berates her son, she says "she couldn't give you what she didn't have"... and I feel like I want her to do an entire series on that. It fascinates me to the point that I honestly don't believe it when she says "I didn't realize I was to you the way my mother was to me"... I wish I could say "what did you think? When you punched him, yelled and put him down - what did you honestly think was going on? You were breaking patterns?" I just don't get it. I think ppl do know. They just don't. Because it's hard. It's too simplified to say "you can't give what you've never had" because that's just not true.... I never had the love I give my son today, I had to do SO much self work to get here - giving him unconditional love, a love I never experienced. I know it's hard, because I'm doing it.

Denial is a strong jail for the mind. I am in self healing now but my daughter is 11 my son is 5. And I see patterns from my own mother and not because I wanted to be that way but because I had that learned behavior. I specifically said I wouldn't do things my mom did but here I am. Without that self awareness and desire to change and want to heal, it's pointless. The human mind is just so complicated especially how you are made through your experiences and trauma.
That's exactly the point. You're able to offer your kids love because you worked on yourself and found a new way of being so you're able to offer something different. She couldn't offer something she didn't have. Her cup wasn't empty but it was filled with rage and anger so that's what poured out.
Is it honestly that hard to offer your kids love? Or just, not beat them? It can't be that hard
I don’t think she knows what she wants. She needs to work on herself, stay in contact with her kids, and find herself. She needs to fix herself. It’s not her kids job to heal her. Dad should move on and find happiness with his boys.

Caleb is NOT his “Fathers” Son and he knows this, his real sperm donor bailed on him 16 years before, His “Dad” now is the guy who stepped up & got screwed over by his Mom as a “nice” guy. Lmao, Austin is half brother is the child between his Mom and “Dad”.
I think Caleb was more traumatizes because he was abandoned by his real father and mother. Being raised by his stepdad. Austin looks bored, disinterested. kept yawning, rolling his eyes. hug them all. Broken men need the most understanding and healing.
I wanted to hear from him too but it's most likely because he didn't want to talk. When someone isn't ready you can't force them. If they can get through to the eldest, he can be supportive of Austin when he is ready to be vulnerable.

I mean why doesn't she just get her own home nearby and have days out with her sons or get them to visit her a few times a year. It's toxic narcissistic behaviour like her saying she'll move back in just wanting a reaction from them to feed her ego. Poor sons and husband. She might have had trauma but it's not their problem. They aren't responsible for her happiness and she's just training them to accept being treated terribly by women.

This is one of my all time favorite Iyanla episodes because it shows a American Woman in her true form, read between the story lines here. Her husband loved her back in HS and she just laughed him off as a friend. She loved the Chad/Tyrone/Che bad boys and got knocked up by one, she comes running to him who takes her AND her son in, which he rases as his own, (the show tries to sneak that fact by.) they have a son together with her holding her nose the whole time he was created (get a blood test brother.) After a few years she misses the bad boys and all their excitement. She meets up with one and gets sprung LEAVES her loyal family blindsiding her husband, follows him to S.A. where she finds out her p@$$& is not the sh;/ because new guy has a LONG ready list, she tries to come back home with tail between legs BUT can not humble herself AND let’s face it, misses her NEW Dudes private. Women stop thinking we can’t read between the lines of ur shows.
This is a self tell. You have obviously loved this kind of woman and she hurt you. I hope you are seeing a therapist. Because, damn, you are mad as hell and that probably comes out to people that don't understand.

So many times in my life I've seen that the "grass isn't always greener" on the other side. We have to learn how NOT to covet what belongs to someone else: another man's wife, another woman's husband, your neighbor's big beautiful house, someone else's career, or their luxury boat and cars, etc., etc. We have to learn how to be content with our OWN blessings and not be envious of the blessings that belong to someone else, having nothing to do with us. What we are often not taught/told is that when we covet another person's blessings, we are also unwittingly coveting their curses too; curses that can not be seen from the curbside or with the naked eye looking in from the outside. I do not want another man's CURSE. I want peace to remain in my soul. I don't want anyone else's family. I love and am thankful to God for my own.

Applause to you! I’ve gone through the same process. This isn’t a judgement but a I wish that they would statement. So many people won’t allow the process of self analyzing and cleansing to take place. And I think with many they just aren’t aware that this is needed for healing,peace and understanding in life. What many people do is think that they can just do certain behaviors. For example people think that they can just “act” like a Christian. They think that they can just start being like Christians by going to Church, Stop doing certain behaviors. And then they end up wrestling with those urges to do all the things that they just tried to stop doing. Because you haven’t been delivered and you haven’t really done the work on self. You just think you can do it because you will yourself to. Nope! It doesn’t work like that.But the work on self is really needed by us ALL. Blessings to you!

Man, Iyanla Fix My Life will definitely be missed. I mean the lady surely knows her business. I truly wish Iyanla Vanzant had chosen to continue on with this show. Unfortunately, she decided to not continue with the show. So many families benefited from watching this show, even the families at home. Families still need the professional guidance she gives that assist's them with bringing understanding and healing to their everyday lives.
She discontinued the show because I guess the producers wanted to control how she did her job so she left. She can't help people with interferences.

Iyanla does such a great job at what she does, no wonder she's a lawyer, a healing coach. She fixed many people's lives to see the big picture by showing the truth and not hiding it. After watching this episode, everyone can see the big picture here. She was a young person, single mom, married to a man she wasn't attracted too. She didn't want to live in a small town like that because she has a big city type heart and personality. She wants her life different than the typical small town wife life. So she left, because she needed to find herself in the process because she knew she didn't want life there and with the man. But she wanted to come back into their lives hopping in and out so she doesn't lose them permanently. It's a selfish move and emotional wreck she placed on her and her children but she knows all along she cannot live her life in a small town like that, and she wasn't attracted to him as a husband, and life partner thats why they were divorced. I look at her, she wasn't willing to give up her dream, her lifestyle, her vision, to live a life there.
