I've read everything Iyanla has written and all of them have blessed me, but Value in the Valley is a must for this young generation of women.
Amen! I’m 51 and I was 23 a single mom falling apart mentally and spiritually. I had a young white therapist who recommended her book to me. It was tapping the power within her very first book. That book saved my life. It taught me how to go within and seek God in me. From that point I purchased every book she released. I’m a hairstylist for over 30 years and just like you I would buy a copy and give it away lol. And I stayed talking about her and recommending her book to my clients. I grew up in foster care and I’m still working and healing childhood wounds but her work has been one of the most instrumental tools in my life. I think every young woman should read at least one of her books. Our community desperately needs her wisdom.

I will be 74 in May and her wisdom was there for me when I needed it most. Between her books (which I donated in order the share with someone else) and that seminar, I found a new outlook and path for my life. She is a blessing to all who are open to her. My sibling and I has had a decades long beef, only speaking(fighting) once every 18 months or so. Between yesterday and today some outside family drama erupted and I got thrown in the mix for no reason. As I was loading bullets into my verbal Tommy gun getting ready to fire back my estranged sibling, the Elder, reached out and said: "let peace be".....im like wtf you mean PEACE, yea when Im done they're all going to be in pieces..Idk who this "let peace be" person is BUT I respected that elder and blessed them with kind words. This is growth for us both. 🙏

This is so true because my youngest son who is 29 is so hateful towards me and constantly blames me for the way his life has turned out it’s like he keeps reliving his hurt I’m at my wits end with him throwing my past in my face he has destroyed my life I’m looking to move because the apartment I raised him up in he feels entitled to stay with me he tells me that he mistreats women because they remind him of me pray for him that mentally he can get some help and free his mind because I will never let him live with me again I’ve told God I will become homeless before I let him live with me again
Know you’re not the only one. I know 2 mothers in the SAME situation. Wish there was a healing circle for those who’ve lived thru and still in that pain.
Wow. Surrender him and the situation to the Lord. Share you did your best with who you were at the time. Perhaps you could apologize for not loving him the way he needed and remind him he has the power to create the life he desires. Take God as a partner and allow the transformation to unfold. The choice is his.

I've always understood people sharing their stories and insecurities with strangers because after the conversation they will never see those strangers again, so they won't hear what they've told come back to them as hurtful gossip. Also, when people open up, they are mainly using the strangers as sounding boards. People are more talking to themselves than the other person, trying to sort out feelings and emotions and all that. It's often better than holding it inside, promoting gut rot.
