  • right well here we are cack after two months of not getting out to our favorite place, the great outdoors, but this year i plan on getting out more and this is our first walk of the year so to get our legs stretched and used to the walks i wanted to find somewhere that would be flat and something to break us back into walks and i remembered when i first started walking again the last time i came to this place so i thought this would be ideal and to be honest i thought id already put a video of this on before but after checking i found that i hadn't and i don't know why because i like this walk it peaceful at times and i used this to burn my legs when i was training for the national three peaks but i did do it tow or three times and speed walked it ( that was tough believe me)
so we started at fareholmes walked along the roadway passing the site of tin town the old navvi houses from where they lived when they first started building the dams then headed to the royal oak a tree King George VI planted in 1945 then to the slippery stones and from there back to the car so its a circular beauty about this walk every time you walk it the scenery changes from season to season i know most walks do but this is different and if your lucky the Royal air force sometimes fly over the dam so you can catch this

Great starting point from the pack horse bridge, most walks involve a good climb tho lol, Margery hill, howden moor, little howden moor, amongst others, couple of trig's, great vid mate. The bridge was moved to there when they flooded the village.

Hi Jayne & John and Happy New Year to you both. It is definitely your year. Mrs Hiking Loomsie, it does have a certain ring to it. That was quite a big walk for a first one after a few months off. It must have been about 12 miles. It is a beautiful walk, up past the Dams and Tin Town. I thought there would be more seats to rest but on the return loop I only found one bench and I was done in. If you go back again you might like the 'shooting cabin/bothy' at Lower Small Clough on Ronksley Moor. It has a visitors book and is tucked away. No passing traffic at all. Irregardless, it's great to see you both out and about again. I missed your hikes and the wit. You crack me up. 😂 All the best for 2024 Jayne & John.

Nice to see you both back out. And in one of my favourite go to areas. Absolutely stunning area. I personally have a few big walks planned for this year. The Gritstone trail 2 days in May & also the Limestone way 3 days date to be confirmed. As I say lovely to see you both back out 👌
