Why did the chameleon cross the road? To get to the forest on the other side ofcourse... As we drive along on our 'Chasing the Monsoon' expedition we notice this Chameleon crossing the road. Usually elusive and incredibly difficult to see it stands out on the road surface. Chamaeleo zeylanicus is surprisingly the only Chameleon in South India.

the dark green stripes means he's feeling threatened btw, darker colors are when its cold, lighter colors when its hot.

I've never been bit and I've held Chameleons many times. The main thing is to let them walk on your hands - rather than be gripped, or restricted. They might gape and hiss if annoyed.

i doubt that his mood is relevant for colorchanging (if he has any mood at all). It is mimicry or camouflage - escape the enemy by being nearly invisible. many animals do that on land and in the sea.
OK im not a specialist in life of chameleons, but there are also images (see in UA-cam) where it is evident that the cameleon accepts the color of the surroundings. attracting another cameleon male or female ye maybe he uses his skin as a lipstick . tks for your comment bye

they adopt the Color of their surroundings..may be they have some Problems if you put one of them on a chess table or on scottish textile...my mom language is also not english but i think i do pretty good now

One that chameleon is very common and chameleons are constantly found on the roads in some areas of Africa wooden structures are built to allow the Cham to get over highways. If u knew anything you would know that they stress east and y crawling after it is just ganna make it stress and want to stop eating/other health problems.!
i think that stupid movements are imitations of a leaf moved bu the wind or some kind of camuflage action, because i had one chameleon, and they can go bery fast and with agility

Chamelions are great, but they don't make good pets. They die very easily.
