  • I do love cables, this winter we are doing a cable knit-a-long with a feature of the patterns of Tin Can Knits in their Lazy Sunday collection, link below. This video is an introduction to reading cable charts.
Sweater is not part of the collection, it is the Billie Pullover by Sari Norlund:

I'm wearing the No Frills Sweater by PetiteKnit, no cables, but a great way to show off the color changing mohair we have:

Thanks! Even though I consider myself quite good at reading charts, I always learn something from you. I always just kind of memorize what the symbols looked like and knew that they spanned across many stitches but now I understand what all those crazy diagonal lines really mean lol.

Hi ! Thank you so much for the content you have create and share. I just came across your channel and have already learned so much. Couple of questions for you 1) how do you go about reading different cable charts? I am currently working on a pattern that says knit chart a 2x and then knit chart b (raglan increase). There is a different chart for the yoke and I can’t seem to figure out whats going on and 2) do you still offer zoom/virtual 1:1 lessons? I saw in an older video that you used to. If so, can you share details on how to sign up? Thank you in advance !

Hi and thanks for watching! Do your charts say to knit the different charts on the same row? I would set up the repeats with stitch markers to define where each chart is on your knitting, and then if the charts have different numbers of rows, write it out or come up with a different way of following them- for instance if chart A has a 4 row repeat and chart B 6, you’ll be 2 rows into the second time through that chart A when you finish your first time through chart B.
Unfortunately I am unable to offer virtual lessons anymore- that older video was back at the beginning of the pandemic when my shop was shut down, so I had more time available, and now that my shop is open regular hours, with video taping etc on top of that, I don’t have room in my schedule! You can always email rebecca@sundragonartandfiber.com and I can see if I have a chance to offer any other advice, if I can find time ❤️
