Man, I'll be honest. The meme about the Asian female model being sued for not birthing "good looking" kids was something I thought was true also. You gotta be careful what you read, people. And BTW, WTF is up with all the death threats for doing something silly or looking a certain way?! This world is nuts.
I don't understand why anyone sends death threats to anyone. What kind of person has that much hate in their heart to send such disgusting things to another person.
The story with Drachenlord is actually a lot deeper than just a meme. He provoked people to hate him by saying the most obnoxious things online, which led to many, even daily police operations and then trials.
I blame most problems in society on immaturity. Some people are so emotionally hollow and insecure, they feel they need to have control over others by behaving in ways that make their victims feel degraded and terrified. It’s a very babyish perspective, but some human beings are that unbelievably immature. I’m thankful for the way some social media platforms have stepped in to initiate policies that block harassers and bullies from being rewarded. The rules may not be perfect, but it’s a step better than taking none.
Censorship isn’t the answer. It’s a temporary bandage that is going to make ordinary citizens rise up once these companies start banning more and more people (inevitably for lesser and lesser infractions). Looking to any crumbled civilization and you will almost always find censorship to be an early part of this crumbling. I don’t disagree that immaturity is a serious issue leading to crime. However, immaturity is a symptom, just as censorship is. Lack of education, historical racism in America (leading to forced segregation and even worse education, resources, and jobs for those segregated into these communities now too poor to fight back despite being “free” to leave), and a political system hellbent on dividing the populace are clearly the major contributing factors to criminality, at the very foundation. Immaturity sprouts when young kids who attend dilapidated schools, get racially profiled if they leave their neighborhoods, have no father figures to help them learn to handle themselves in the world (mothers could do this but single moms work constantly to provide basic necessities, leaving little time to teach kids higher-order things like how to operate effectively in this world) grow up and realize that they have no help. Where do you turn when it seems the entire world gives no fucks about you? You do whatever you can to survive, losing humanity but by bit. Couple in some “Karen” encounters and other unpleasant social experiences, and you have nearly every major variable found present in serious, adult criminal offenders. Also, you can’t forget that mental illness is also a major factor in the most serious crimes. Like it or not, the majority of the most serious crimes involved seriously mentally ill perpetrators. Often paranoid schizophrenia or psychopathy/sociopathy (although the vast majority of those with these three conditions never commit any serious crimes/violence). Just picture being born without the capacity to feel empathy for others. Your brain literally cannot do it. That’s psychopathy. They are often highly successful people but have few friends given they only know how to manipulate for their own gain. Why be genuinely nice when you can’t actually care about them? Point is, there’s lots of reasons this kind of shit happens. Most of these issues can be boiled down to much larger structural, social, and cultural issues rather than individual-level factors like level of immaturity. Yes, we find these kinds of factors often in criminals, but the more important question is “why?”. Why would immaturity lead to criminality in some people and not others? Why would psychopathy lead to criminality in some but not others? It’s primarily the reasons I listed at the beginning of this novel. Sorry, this is what I do for a living so educating using the knowledge of criminality I have gained through years upon years of scientific study of criminals, criminality, and bias in the legal system. The more ya know 🤷♂️. Now that you know what the science tells us thus far, you can educate others 😁. One more thing: this is more my personal thoughts but I would argue social media, for all the good it’s done, has contributed heavily to further destroying education in the U.S. Kids are more concerned with likes, points, and positive feedback for validation of their behavior than thinking through their actions and behaviors to figure out why they do what they do. I was the last generation to not have a smartphone (got a Razr at like 17) as a teen and, funnily enough, the last generation to seemingly rely on logic to find my way through life. Now, kids look up anything and everything. No need for using their own brain, trial and error, or genuine curiosity to figure things out. Nope, now you just look it up, and whatever answer you hope is correct can be validated in less than 5 minutes by a seemingly credible source. It’s a terrifying way to live and I am terrified of how far this is going to go.
But in all fairness, Hide the pain Harold has a smile that says "Dear God, I hope the police don't find all those orphan bones in the crawlspace under my house."
Harambe's fate was sealed because a certain mother didn't take notice of her child too tightly enough. Blaming her for the death of a gorilla was bad enough. But bullying her for that, nah, that's gross.
