Naveen is my favorite Disney Prince And Rest In Peace Ray ⭐️and Ray is voiced by Jim Cummings who also voices Pete, Darkwing duck, Whinnie the Pooh and Tigger
Ray had one of the most unexpected deaths in all the Disney films. I remember being caught very off guard when he was stepped on 😰. Many people in my theatre gasped.
Yeah his death still upsets me, especially since he didn't know that they turned human again and when Naveen told him that he was going to propose Ray said "You're gonna have the cutest little tadpoles." Which means he never knew if they had kids or not too.
2:28 "did he die? Wait, what happened to the dad???" Typical Disney. They just love to kill off a main character's parent or both parents, or sometimes a different relative 😭😭😭
As an adult this film has some pretty dark parts. Which is great. Disney films never shied away from that back in the day. They turned kids into donkeys and sold them as slave labor to salt mines. Cursing children with death, murdering your step daughter and requesting her heart brought back in a box as proof... yeah. So it's always nice when Disney doesn't shy away from darkness. Facillier was a great villain. And what a voice!!
I watched this movie for the first time as a kid, _alone_ at a friend of my parents house AND it was night time. Yes, that scene very much did scare me too....
@@The_Hush_Dragon One of my favorite things an author has ever said was from Neil Gaiman: "Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten." Walt Disney believed in something similar too. He didn't believe in pandering to kids. He believed they understood very complex themes if you just took the time to properly explain them. That is reflected in his films.
One thing I appreciate from Disney films is that there’s a lot of Easter eggs sprinkled in certain shots. With this one, we have things like the Carpet and Magic Lamp from Aladdin and King Triton from The Little Mermaid as a parade float, to name a few.
One thing that always amazes me, is when you realize how good of a friend Lottie is. Even though she seems spoiled and hyperactive. She helps set her up to the big party event. Just so she can show off how good Tiana's cooking is. She always wears pink, but yet she has a blue dress ready and just in Tiana's size? The princess and the frog is the ONE that started the second DISNEY RENAISSANCE celled DISNEY REVIVAL, and though Winnie the Pooh underperformed, this made a great legacy that 2d animation will never fade away, and the good news is that RECENTLY Frozen 1/2 creators confirmed that another 2D project for disney animation is possible and open for filmmakers depending on their vision
"Dylan is in trouble" was right! (If you watch him) "If you're in a disney don't have kids! Never have kids!....You know who didn't have kids? Carl!...Carl from UP! And he was old as hell! No children!"
I love this movie! I remember watching it and assuming Lotte was going to be a spoiled brat. She is spoiled! But she is such a kind and sweet character!
Now, I’m not a local, but, ignoring the magic, this movie is apparently very accurate to how New Orleans is like in real life from the accents to the actual culture
I was dancing and singing to this one too! X3 So happy you loved it so much! YESS Dr. Facilier is one of my favourites too! This was Disney's second-to-last theatrical release in full 2D animation, and I hope they come back to this format someday! To answer a few points here - Ray is voiced by Jim Cummings, who voices and sings for MANY Disney characters, including Pete! And as for who "outbid" Tiana for the restaurant, the agents mention her "background" being a deciding factor as well - very racist undertones here! No surprise, being the 20s and all. XP Can't wait to see your WALL-E reaction!
I personally love the constant foreshadowing done in this movie. Like when facilier's shadow threw their hats, nevine's/navene's cap landed on a human skull and the fat guy's (forgot his name, sorry) one landed on a puppet. All of this BEFORE they took a glimpse of their future in facilier's card.👏👏👏 I only noticed this when I watched the Princess and the Frog a second time, but completely missed it when I first saw the movie. 😂
Can I just say, as a man from the south who lives very close to the real New Orleans, this movie nails the southern culture. In too many films I've seen my culture portrayed as stupid, incestuous, lazy, when in fact that's hardly the truth. Sure, we're not as quick to get everywhere as those from the north, but that's because we enjoy taking our time and enjoying life. We're also very friendly and welcoming towards those who want to take part in and embrace our culture. And this film does that very well. Also, props to not having the mayor and his daughter turn twist villains like a lot of Disney movies tend to do nowadays. They're both legit great people who care about the community and Tiana's family. God knows if it were made toward Big Daddy would have hired the Shadow Man to help take the prince hostage or something like that.
Timone explaining stars: "They're fireflies. Stuck up there in that bluest black thing". Looks like he was right. And I agree with you, Evangline was a firefly that Ray loved, but died. Ray's death always gets me, especially when they show the second star.
2:27 Tiana’s dad sadly died in ww1 Cody, and that award he received on the side of the pic is the distinguished service cross, so he might’ve done something heroic out in the trenches.

Many fans (and even the Disney wiki) suspect that there was no one who outbid her. It is the south in the 1920s. Why would someone else buy up a sugar mill that had been left abandoned for years the moment someone made a downpayment. They probably just didn't want to sell the place to a black woman. (note the emphasis when they say little lady of her "background" followed by Tiana's miffed reaction when it's stated).
I love this movie at first I didn’t like the 1920s aesthetic but once I watched it I really liked it. I also have theory about the Star Ray has a crush on. I think that star was a firefly once and the star was never there before. Before she died she wished she could reach the stars. And that’s how she got there. But that’s just a theory. What do you think?
fun fact, at points during Friends on the Other Side if you look at the wallpaper behind the Shadow Man you'll see the parts covered by his shadow become skulls while the rest of the wallpaper isn't
I love this movie! Tiana is great and worked really hard from her dream, truly one of the best princess 💚 Poor Ray didn't deserved to die like that, but at least he got to be with Evangeline 💖 Also, Lotte is a great friend to Tiana, even tho her dream is to marry a prince, she was willing to free them from the curse and let them stay together.

Dr.Facilier Jafar and Judge Frollo wearing Red Black and Purple Clothing ❤🖤💜
The worst part about Dr. Facilier is that he never actually lied when looking at it lol 😂
I’m actually in New Orleans right now and I’m just now seeing some real iconic places they added in the background!
Dude, this movie is so fun. I love the music.
It's actually a ukulele that Naveen plays, a smaller type of guitar, often used in Hawaii.
I cry for Ray every time 😭
So Timon from Lion King was right!
"They're fireflies that got stuck up that big blueish black thing"
fun fact, at points during Friends on the Other Side if you look at the wallpaper behind the Shadow Man you'll see the parts covered by his shadow become skulls while the rest of the wallpaper isn't
I love this movie! Tiana is great and worked really hard from her dream, truly one of the best princess 💚
Poor Ray didn't deserved to die like that, but at least he got to be with Evangeline 💖
Also, Lotte is a great friend to Tiana, even tho her dream is to marry a prince, she was willing to free them from the curse and let them stay together.
One of my favorite movies!! So good omg
Omg! I *JUST* noticed when Lois was playing in Tiana's Place, the band name was: Fireflie Five plus Lou
Literally, I never knew that was there
Dr. Facilier is my all time favorite Disney villain he's so smooth, charismatic and over all a villain you can't help but like or love in my opinion 💜😈🎶😁
I'll say it again: your sister has great taste!
PLEASE react to Coraline!!! It's a fan favorite I swear! I've been asking for months.
All time favorite Disney movie and Princess!!💙💙💙💙
My favorite song in this is
