I got my first Keeshond in 1978 and now have Keeshonden 5 and 6. I adore the breed. I love everything about the breed: the look, the temperament, the expression, the coat, the size, the coat...... Everything. They are the best!
Paige Roth , sorry to hear of your furbaby Kess that passed. It is something you never get over. My Keeshond was just a few days short of turning 12 years and I made the god awful decision to put him to sleep Ashe had multiple health issues and stopped eating. Here is a link of a memorial /tribute I made of my beloved companion. Here is the link... I’d love to hear from other Keeshond parents. drive.google.com/file/d/1YZ6CIDKnl_jS2S2vNhpVJOJ3egaDYHmY/view?usp=drivesdk
@@johnnybravo5145 It is very tragic to have to make that decision. It took me a long time but now I am finally able to look at photos of my dog without getting too emotional. That special bond is something not all people understand and we are very fortunate to have experienced it. Take care.
Our adult son has one. He was still living with us when he got the dog, and they were living with us for the first couple of years of the dog's life. That are smart, and clever as hell, and very, very affectionate. Now we do doggie daycare as our son drops the dog off at our house on his way to work. One thing to note, they are keen watchdogs. Meaning they are hyper sensitive to noise and activity around your home and property and will respond accordingly by barking. Actually a desirable trait if trained to respond in appropriate situations. Example, the dog shouldn't bark warnings every time your neighbor comes out to water their garden.
Smartest dog I ever met was my Keeshond Chillcoot. The dog was so smart he could almost speak english. Unfortunately he was only bright enough to be mono-lingual and I got him from a Mexican lady. I swear that dog would look at his empty water dish, then me, and say "aaaaaagua". As soon as I move, I can get a dog. You can bet money you don't have, it will be a Kees. I can't hope to be luck enough to get another one as smart. I kinda hope it's from an english speaking home this time. Just in case.
I got one keeshond 😁 . I read that keeshond is 3rd on the list of most inteligent dogs in World . And no doubt that's true ! They are so clever and trainable .
The Keeshond is so gorgeous on every level. Originally I wanted a samoyed but they are supposedly a nightmare to train especially for a first time dog owner like me but not the Keeshond though. I found the perfect velcro dog with my boo, Keanu that I am now strongly considering a little brother for him to play especially while I am working out of home. The grooming for either one of these breed of dogs is a bitch though; no pun intended.
I have a dog named romeo he is blind and always runs into things he is a yorkie :(. I love keeshonds I have a different dog thats a keeshond named misty she is so sweet.
Do you know who Romeo's breeder was, or where they got him? If this really is in Colorado, that Romeo might be related to my own Keeshond... We adopted a Keeshond puppy 2 years ago... (If the Romeo in the video was a year old then, or around 2 years old now, the timing would match up perfectly... The facial markings and coat match up too... More brown and black fur than silver and the black spot on the side of his face where the fully black fur starts to disappear...) Romeo was one of the puppies from the litter we adopted from, but I never knew what happened with the rest of the puppies, or if they were adopted... It would be pretty cool if this was the same dog! Haha!
This guy is not really a good choice to have on air speaking about a dog breed. He never totally completes a thought. He isn’t even fully knowledgeable about this breed. Specifically, he mentioned the coat, but one thing he should have pointed out is how easy to maintain the coat is. Unlike other dogs with thick, fluffy coats, the Keeshond’s requires only weekly brushing (more often when coat is being blown 2x/year).

I lost my 15 year old just a few weeks ago. There will never be another pup like him. But I do want another Keeshond.
I lost my senior Keeshond recently. Romeo is a beauty and it's hard to want another breed once you've owned a Kees.

After my first Kee I was totally hooked. I adore them.
My favorite breed. Mine was so amusing.

Animal Planet and wikipedia states that this breed is from the Netherlands.

He looks just like my boi!
Werent they dutch - and not german?
Dutch actually, from Holland not Germany!
It depends. The keeshond is from the netherlands, but the Wolfsspitz is from germany. Today both are mixed because of the Tina genpool so both is fine
Beautiful dog, but not a very informative segment.
