I wholeheartedly would like to thank Vanessa Girl With The Dogs again for taking Gibbs on. I have been plagued with increasing wrist issues throughout my life. And as of the date of the video, I just finished surgery #5, with #6 scheduled in a few months. While Gibbs was never professionally groomed, until this day; it does not mean he was never groomed at home. He also gets baths 3-4x a year, typically when the seasons change. He has never been that vocal at home during a bath. Which I attribute to him being in a strange place. Plus the breed is a barker. They used to chase vermin and bark their heads off at strangers while they guarded Dutch barges. The problem is that I could never groom him entirely. And there is no local groomer that I would trust to give him a try. This was the worst state he has ever been in, as my right hand and wrist have been in extreme pain since June. He is well cared for and is checked by a vet biannually; he had his second checkup and labs days before this video. He got a clean bill of health. Keeshonden do huff like that to talk, he also likes to choke himself when hooked to just a collar. His front paw sensitivity is likely due to a clipped quick in his past, both by myself and at the vets office. As for keeping his coat groomed since the video, I have been working on him for 20 minutes every day, while he sleeps in my bed. I have also purchased the combs and happy hoodie from Vanessa's website. I already owned the coral brush. I will be keeping up with his coat as I don't want to put him through the stress of a professional groom again. For those who left kind comments and who were owned by Keeshonden in the past, thank you for your kindness. The Kees community has always been a supportive one. For those with negative comments, I understand your frustration. However you don't know the full story and life has a way of throwing huge obstacles at people, that change their way of life and finances. Gibbs is the brat that I never knew I needed. He helped me recover from losing my heart dog, soul friend, best friend, my Keeshond Leo. Gibbs keeps me sane in this crazy world.
He looks just like my neighbors girl, Ivy. When she was groomed and they had to shave places…her fur changed color in the spots. She has never barked at me, I just love her booty waggle greetings.
Sorry you had today deal with negative comments. Gibbs is clearly a very well loved dog, and anyone who has an older dog can appreciate the challenges that are inherent in grooming them. It’s even more challenging if they’re not used to being groomed by someone new/ in an unknown place. Best of luck with your wrist surgeries!
Honestly, I am just fascinated by cat and dog anecdotes by very adoring owners. Never had either, but the love seeps right through the screen. Very comforting. Gibb has the most expressive face and sweet voice loud or not. I would like to hug him and have a sit down with him.
I, myself, have been owned by 5 different Keeshonden at varies times throughout my life. They each had a very high opinion of themselves & usually had a lot to say about any topic of conversation! 😜You've done an amazing job trying to keep up with his coat. It isn't easy! I wish you speedy healing & a long, long life with Gibbs. It did my heart good to see a feisty Kees being groomed!
Just ignore people with the negative comments. He looks like he is well loved. I enjoyed listening to his complaints.😊. He has such a beautiful dog and with a beautiful face! Hope your wrists is doing better. 🩷🐶
The birds LOVE long dog hair. Everyone should have a dog to help out the birds (chase away the cats, too). And brushing a double-coated/long-hair dog will cut the need for bathing by at least half, and sometimes 75%, all other things considered.
I have two long hair cats I brush them outside and I leave the fur on my porch stairs I love seeing the birds grab the fur. I also leave yarn trimmings too.
I can tell this owner takes great care of Gibbs! His weight is great, teeth are great, eyes are bright. After reading her comment I completely understand why she couldn’t brush him
It's always very pleasant indeed, I suppose some prefer not to appear on internet and remain anonymous for reasons that everyone should be able to understand, or we would probably have them in every video.
His face resting on the edge of the tub in the happy hoody, with his expressive eyebrows, whiskers, and white chin...the absolute cutest boi😍😍😍 edited to say impressive save when he tried to make a quick escape off the table😯😬😳😰😶
I’ve had 3 Keeshonds! They are wonderful dogs, very loyal and loving 🥰 I had mine groomed every four weeks because of their coats. Two of mine looked just like him!
For him never being professionally groomed, he did pretty good. You are so good with these animals and do such a good job dealing with all types of issues and circumstances. Thank You for your content.
What a gorgeous dog! Thank you for your videos, Vanessa. I had a Bernese Mountain Dog named Buxter who just loved getting filthy. He had extreme anxiety and separation anxiety, was always at my hip. Because of his reactive behavior, a lot of groomers would turn Buxy down, even on sedatives. I ultimately left no other option but to groom him myself. Videos and channels including yours helped me learn so many helpful tips and techniques that saved my life!! Please never stop what you do, and thank you for sharing your expertise to people like me. ❤️ RIP Buxy
Vanessa, Great job on Gibbs. I do think that he was on his best behavior for you and you were extremely patient brushing him out. Four hours is a long time for him (and you) to be standing up. Gibbs looked gorgeous after the entire bathing and grooming processes were completed. My guess is that he felt so much better too. To the owner: Disregard the negative comments from others writing in. It’s obvious that you love him and I’m sure he loves you. Sounds like you’re doing a great job routinely grooming him now and I hope your last surgery will finally let your wrist heal and fully recover. Gibbs is a gorgeous dog and seems very sweet. Wishing the best for both of you and good health and happiness in the days and years ahead. Be well and be happy. ❤❤🐾🐾❤️❤️
I used to have a Keeshond and he was such a funny little clown, grumbling away whenever he was groomed. Never bit, just made you aware that he was not pleased with the process. And afterward, he would steal a tissue and gently lay it in the middle of the floor to really send the message home 😂
😂 that is so funny about the tissue! I wonder what he was trying to say by doing that? I mean, clearly that he wasn’t pleased, but what a unique and interesting way your dog went about it! 😂 and the gently laying it down too.. 🤣
I rarely (never) leave comments but I really needed to say I find it so comendable that you would take out time of your already busy schedule to teach pet owners to groom their own dogs properly since they cant afford it. Thats amazing, Some offer free grooms for dogs who are in desperate need of grooming and thats also amazing cause some owners due to illness or other difficult circumstances can neither afford a groom nor manage their pet's grooming. But teching the owners who can and want to groom is awesome. Definitely "teaching a man to fish..."
He is beautiful. Getting a dog like that is a lot of work. We got her from the humane society when our neighbor left her in the house they moved away. She was sweet, loving and let me groom her so I did it myself. Lots of work but they are so worth it in the love you get back. I did my best at brushing her once a week. Sometimes every 2 weeks when something came up. Thank you for this video it’s like seeing her again. She’s been gone for about 15 years ❤😊
We have a collie and I can’t even imagine grooming all his myself, let alone a fully double coated dog like a Keeshond. Kudos to you. We get him professionally done every 4 weeks. It’s expensive but the last time we did it ourselves there was so much soap left over in his fur because there was just so much of it we kept missing spots. Because of the professional grooming, we get constant compliments from groomers and people about his coat quality.
I like how much grace she gives the owners in these cases. Like she gave her credit for at least attempting to groom the dog, and acknowledged that sometimes pro grooming isn't an option for money reasons. would have been really easy to be judgemental there.
I think, if you buy such a breed, you need to be able to give it a fair life. Meaning also caring for their fur, by going to the groomer or learning how to groom the dog by themselves. We shouldnt buy dogs if we cannot afford them. Thats why I do not think its fair to say that anyone can treat a dog any way they want, only because they wanted one but cant afford it. If you have money problems, dont buy a designer dog, because they dont exist just for you, they usually have pretty strickt care they need.
@@ELIss-t8rGibbs owner literally bought a high velocity drier for him, they clearly care because those things aren’t just expensive but also take a lot of space. i understand what u mean but the point of the comment is that these things just happen sometimes, blaming doesn’t help anyone it just lets random commenters feel superior over the “disgusting dog abusing owner who dared to have their dog have any coat issues”. we should just talk about how to prevent AND deal with these things because they’re bound to happen, it’s better to tell someone “hey i think you’re dog is matted, it’s really not good for them and will make them really uncomfortable and even cause skin issues” because 99% of people CARE FOR THEIR ANIMALS! attacking them and calling them selfish and irresponsible or “abusive” is literally just gonna make them focus on defending themselves and not that their animals is in discomfort. don’t assume people want a designer dog even if they don’t know how to care for them, because i assume u won’t do that right? u won’t get a dog without doing research on their proper care right? so why can’t we assume everyone is like that too, give them the benefit of the doubt, and let them have a safe space to grow and learn, that is how we’ll give dogs a good quality of life.
@@ELIss-t8rokay but what if they rescued him from a kill shelter? Would it have been worse for the dog to be put down because someone couldn’t afford professional grooming? Especially when they’ve clearly been doing a good job up until now?
I used to groom our Keeshond every Sunday. No bath though, just nail filing his nails (yes, I filed his nails with a rasp rather than trying to cut his nails; that way, I never got his quicks) and a long brush. Always ended up with enough wool to make another Keeshond. He was excellent for his grooming sessions.
We had a Keeshond when I was a child she had the best nature of any dog I have had since I’m 64 now, they used to make sweaters from their hair as it knits just like wool. Absolutely beautiful dogs ❤❤❤
Vanessa i so appreciate when you tell us you're giving the dog a break. I know you take very good care of the animals you help and i don't doubt they get the breaks they need. But it helps me to hear it when I'm feeling sorry for the older dogs. Oldies are my favorites.
She also gives status updates during the groom. And I remained in the area in case my presence or assistance was needed. Even though we lived only 35 minutes away, I wasn't going to cross back over the country border without him.
Aw bless him. Broke my heart to see him distressed but you did an amazing job. Our Keeshond used to panic bark like this as a pup but more of a quiet grumbler these days! We have regularly taken him to a professional groomer since he was young. He is an angel for them apparently, just kisses the whole time. With home grooming we have to bribe him with a frozen peanut butter Kong to brush him for longer than 5 mins or he runs away 😂 but we do a little bit of grooming daily - matting is super uncomfortable for these guys and also makes brushing a hell of a lot harder. Ours is a lovely cuddly and hilarious boy, adores children, but I wouldn’t advise anyone to get a Keeshond unless they’re open to the idea of brushing every day!
He has always kept his puppy side. I thought he would mellow with age.....that has yet to happen. If he wasn't named after Gibbs from NCIS, he would have been called Lucifer as I was into that show shortly after I got him as a puppy.
@@melaniekendall4903 Yeah, that's how old my poodle is but she acts like she's a puppy 🙃Never grew out of the "I love everyone" phase, has to have a job or she causes mass mayhem on purpose (tips everything, steals all blankets and pillows in the house and attempts to hide them), and bounces around like she's a baby deer. With the only sign of her age being that she prefers to sleep more often than before and her anxiety is harder on her than before so she's on meds for it. (I'm constantly in and out of the hospital and life support and she's a "this is my only human" type of dog so naturally she has some wild anxiety having witnessed her handler nearly dying and having to use a panic button system for her) But she's almost 10 and grooming her is a terror not because she's aggressive or anything but because she hates standing still and like a puppy, prefers to have fun having you chase her around especially as she leaps out of the bathtub cause she hates water despite being a poodle... 😂
9:23 when the trazodone hits 😆 Also having a lil coffee break together was so wholesome. Im so glad youre able to take these grooms at yours and the dogs own pace and not have to rush!
6:31 We love our Keeshond and find the breed to be excellent friends and companions and good with children. They love routine and may find doing anything new frightening, so maybe this guy is experiencing that. They're a great breed. And such beautiful dogs! I am glad you could save his double coat. Good job.
I grew up with a Keeshond from age 3mo to 16yrs & she was a fantastic family dog ❤️ Thank you for this video! I can imagine a groomer not looking forward to this breed haha, as they do indeed like to bark/their double coats being so thick that folks can use their fur as weaving wool. We had to brush her once per week at least growing up, and would always end up with a whole other dog-sized ball of floof. For others in the northern Canadian prairies: take the floof-balls after brushing them out outside during Fall & Winter, just place them on top of the snow: birds love using these floof balls to insulate their nests!
That ending shot of him next to his mat pile, sticking his tongue 👅 out at the camera 🏆. Coat looked beautiful and he looked alot slimmer. Great job Vanessa 👏
At one point, I had three Keeshonds and they were brushed every week at least. A pillowcase of fur every time. Absolutely loved the breed, sweet, protective and smart.
Yet another superpower of Vanessa: not losing her spoken train of thought when her voice is being drowned out by **all** the songs of the dog's people. Sung simultaneously.
Through the whole drying process I kept thinking " oh i can see his skin! Yay! He's going to look so amazing when he's done! " And he absolutely does. ❤
I have had 6 Kees! Ilove the breed! They are very sweet and good natured. I always brushed mine at least once a week and a bath every 8 weeks. None of them were thrilled with water.
Fluffy Storm cloud on the loose ❤❤ He is gorgeous Vanessa. He looks incredible bc of you. Wow, what a transformation and his teeth are really healthy for his age. ❤
We had a Roughcoat Collie/Keeshond, Buddy, for 13 1/2 yrs. He was the best tempered boy. Smart and obedient. But he had the fuzzy undercoat from his Keeshond dad and from his Collie mom he unfortunately got Mitriol valve insufficiency, causing his heart to enlarge. Very protective of anyone. He even went after our 2 yr. old adopted GSD mix when she snapped at our youngest grandson.
I had a female Keeshond when I was a kid. She absolutely loved when I groomed her. She was such a sweetheart. Loving loyal family dog, absolutely loved the snow. ❤
Tomorrow is bath day for my goldendoodle (adopted when she was 3, so don't come for me, mob). I watch GWTD videos to prepare myself with gratitude for a dog that was raised on the grooming table! 🥰 That said, this lovely boy did amazing for his first time and such an intensive session.
Good luck for your bath day tomorrow! May it only be the dog's bath and not yours too. Adopting is a lot more ethical, I wish your lady is healthy and stay that way a long time
We're with you. We got 3 pure breeds out of our many past dogs. Adopted them as adult dogs, from homes who were about to send them to shelters for various reasons. They weren't fits for their families, but were perfect fits for our wonky family. We take them all in. Our beloved English Cocker Spaniel, Rottenweiler, & goofy Golden-bringer got looks sometimes from adopt-don't-shop folks, but people will always be judgy. It's an unfortunate part of the human condition. Somehow, the universe sends us the dogs we're supposed to adopt into the family. Don't pay any attention to the judgy folks. You adopted the dog who needed you, & you her. Right now, we're approaching our 2nd year with a GSD/hound mix who has severe stray dog PTSD. She's a dangerous dog at times, and she's bitten me once & our now ex-trainer, & starts fights with our boradorable borador. We're still learning about her cues & boundaries, as she's learning ours. With our very understanding vet's practice, we give her a handful of daily medications to chill her out so the world won't seem so aggro & scary to her. Thank goodness it seems to be working somewhat for her (& us). She has to wear a "Training. Do not pet" harness & muzzle to go for a walk or the vet. For vet visits, we use oral sedation & the vet puts her completely out for any vet visits to be able to handle her safely. Can't get a groomer to take her. We bath her in the baby pool & I go in with her. Hopefully we're out of range of our neighbor's security camera when we do it, or they're eyes may melt like "IJ & The Lost Ark". If her behavior gets worse & too dangerous for us to handle, we'll have a sad & difficult decision to make. A shelter would euthanize her if we took her back given her aggression & bite history. But, we're keeping her because no one else will, & want her to feel loved & have the best life we can give her, including her last day, whenever that may be. If she has to be euthanized, it will be in the comfort of home, with as much sedation as we can give her, and a home visit vet will punch her ticket for the Rainbow Bridge. I too am an adopt-don't-shop advocate, but I do believe that the universe sends you the dog you're supposed to have. Sometimes buying a dog is the way people find the dog that fits them best. But, pure breeds & designer dogs end up in shelters & breed rescues, too. We can only hope there are enough people who will check shelters & rescues first, and adopt. May your bath day go well, and your supply of towels be plentiful. 🤗
Why would anyone come for you? You did a good thing adopting a three year old!! Good luck with the grooming! I hope you have many happy years if grooming your baby!
I had a Keezy for his 16 yrs. They’re bread to be companions are intelligent and have a playful, goofy personality. I was lucky to have an incredible breeder who taught me how to groom him. When they learn as puppies, they don’t give you a hard time. I feel badly for this guy to have gone so long with out proper care. You did an incredible job with him.
He looks amazing! This is the second dog you've done recently where it seemed like they were more calm the longer they were there and the sedation was wearing off.
Great job on Gibbs! I have 2 Kees and we brush them out routinely in addition to going to the groomer every 3 months. It is a lot of work but they are just so dang sweet I wouldn’t get another breed! The work is worth it to me!
He is just adorable ❤. So well behaved for a dog who doesn't like grooming and with a stranger too! Thank you to the owner for giving some context, and I hope you heal well and swiftly
I was asked to rehome a 9 month old that was so neglected and flea ridden. Back then it was only hairbrush and combs no sluckers etc. I took time to clean her up at work as I was a Vet nurse, then after a couple of days I was able to help take her home to meet our 8yr old Collie. They got on well. She lived to be 15yrs and 8 months old when she passed away. Such a beautiful breed and avid water lover.
@@Anna-fx8vy She said that the owners do bath them at home. But owners aren't pet groomers. Without the proper tools and know-how, home baths can only be so effective for certain dogs/breeds/coats.
I have owned two Keeshonden and absolutely adore the breed! Max and Sharni were loving and sweet companions. Yes they made noise and barked but only if there was a need to alert me of something they felt was a problem...they didn't realize that I didn't mind the possums or galahs. What a beautiful boy is Gibbs.
Just make sure that your peanut butter doesn't have any xylitol in it before you let the dog near it. Xylitol is harmless to humans but disastrously toxic, even in very small quantities, to dogs. So always make sure that you check the label. Here in the UK we don't have the same range of peanut butters available (it is very much a food stuff which came to us from "across the pond") so it is important to look at the labels.
Aww my cavalier absolutely loved water. He looked like a seal whenever we let him swim with us when we were out on our boat, and he was singing every time we had him in the shower. He was the best boy. We lost him a year ago and it had been so weird without him.
I grew up with Keeshonds. They're great dogs, ours were a bit neurotic and high-strung and excitable, but very smart and loyal and loving. Awesome dogs but yeah, that coat requires a lot of maintenance and brushing. But when it's done, though...SO SOFT AND PETTABLE.
I feel like you two must have really bonded in those four hours. Being all alone and getting to know eachother and having to find a way to somehow complete his groom. 😊❤
Hi... from Canada! Over my lifetime, I've had 3 Kheeshonds, and they loved to be brushed and loved the water. We took them sailing, which goes back to their origins on the Dutch barges. They made wonderful pets and companions. Then, my focus and passion turned to other dogs that needed to be rescued. I do miss the Kheeshonds. Keep up the good work you do, Vanessa.
As a horse person I'm always amazed of what is considered a lot of work with dog fur. I have an extremely hairy and feathered horse, takes me at least 1 h to groom every day. However, I do it gladly and both me and the horse enjoys it. Its quality bonding time.
So glad you are taking extra time brushing. I used to groom professionally (had to stop due to very sensitive lungs) and now just groom for myself and friends / family. I will admit some of your videos look like the brushing can be a little heavy handed. My Pomeranian and Powderpuff Chinese Crested have taught me to be very light handed. My Pomeranian will fall asleep during brushing if I do it right, or run for his life if I am trying to rush it. He's both physically and emotionally sensitive and I think it's been very beneficial to us both to brush extremely gently.
What a gorgeous boy with an adorable face. But I could never have a dog that requires so much grooming! Just from my allergies alone. Hence why I’ve had short-haired hound types. Low maintenance. GSP’s & Treeing Walker Coonhound, easiest grooms. Thank you for being so caring and patient with the Drama King ❤
@ I don’t see it as a problem as much as matching breeds to type. I know some breeds are hypoallergenic. But I’d still struggle with the long washing/brushing out because of having had car accidents and neck/spine fractures. So I know a breed that is quick and easy to maintain is the best for me. Do Schnauzers and terriers in general need less brushing? I do like their spunky character that’s for sure.
@@helenemalenfant5435 It depends on how long the coat is. If kept in a longer coat they need daily brushing, if kept in a short coat with regular grooms once or twice a week may be enough. That's why even though some breeds, like the little fluffy ones, technically have a higher maintenance coat. But if they need haircuts anyway you can do short cuts frequently and the maintenance is pretty minimal.
@@helenemalenfant5435 if you get a short hair coat variety. Like a smooth coat Jack Russell or fox terrier. Look at photos to see what the different coat varieties are.
Trying to leave a comment after watching this transformation efforts, massive labor. I see the difference very clearly between a well intention dog parent who grooms with all their heart. Verses grooming with experience. Thank you Vanessa for making that difference obvious. WOW
I had 6 Keeshonden who were all wonderful dogs. I was fortunate to have a breeder tell me how to maintain their coats and never had one get this bad but I am so very happy you were able to save his coat ❤. They really are a great breed 😊.
I am happy you make videos about how to groom your animal. It is so needed, matting is super painful for a cat and I can't imagine it less painful for a dog. It is a mystery why people want such high-maintenance animals. The salon costs money, and doing it yourself means daily combing and cleaning. Perhaps take a dog or cat that is less difficult to maintain if you can't do so yourself? Kees comes from the Dutch 18th-century patriot name Cornelis/Cees, bread by the Germans who call them German Wolfspitz. Real protective family dogs.
As a owner of a couple of Kees, they are very bright, playful clowns .. even practical jokers. Very lovable. But talkers! If you pay attention to them when they bark at something as warning, and reassure them it’s ok, they feel their guard thing has been respected. So ours were less barky. Not huge shedders. That soft double coat is luxurious, and comparatively easy care. But, man, you need to groom them once in a while!
My very favorite grooms are when Vanessa is chiding the dogs because they suddenly turn into _huge dramatic crybabies_ getting groomed. Poor guy wasn't happy about it, but you did such a great job with him! Amazing work, as always.
I had a kesshond that I rescued after the owner passed away. Keesha had been professionally groomed by a good friend of mine from puppyhood so new the routine well. . She was an amazing dog. I took over grooming her and it took me 4 hours from start to finish. Then it was another hour for cleanup. I found doing it in the garage was a life saver. Use that leaf blower and all that hair is a gift for the birds.

My aunt and uncle had a Keeshond. They brushed him everyday. The birds were thrilled with all the fluff when you groomed him outside.
You can actually make lovely and super-soft yarn from the undercoat.
Same for our GSD❤

I had a Keeshond as well, I didn’t brush daily, but every weekend. Except in the fall, the leaves would get tangled in his fur!
When he barks, closed captioning calls it (applause) and (music). ;)
Applause and the song of his people 😂😂

I can tell this owner takes great care of Gibbs! His weight is great, teeth are great, eyes are bright. After reading her comment I completely understand why she couldn’t brush him

His face resting on the edge of the tub in the happy hoody, with his expressive eyebrows, whiskers, and white chin...the absolute cutest boi😍😍😍 edited to say impressive save when he tried to make a quick escape off the table😯😬😳😰😶
He did so well. His owner didn't lie. ❤ You have such patience and such a sweet way about you, Vanessa. I love your channel.
Yes! He stopped his protesting and settled in fairly well.
I’ve had 3 Keeshonds! They are wonderful dogs, very loyal and loving 🥰 I had mine groomed every four weeks because of their coats. Two of mine looked just like him!
My Aunt and Uncle had a Keesond as well. His name was Silver, and he was so sweet
I had keeshond cross pound puppy. Grumpy grandma to the kids, hated veterinarians, at my side for 17 years. Still miss that dog.
They're very cute! I love their faces I'd love to give one a hug some day!
Mine were named Ursa, Koda & Meeko!
❤️ RIP Buxy
Some people insist on calling them Burmese Mountain Dogs…
So sorry for your loss.
Maybe he was helping clean up after a furnado?
@@TheKatarinaGiselle Maybe a white flag, the international symbol of surrender?
I loved my Keeshonds, my girl was sassy especially to my husband 😂. My younger male was a total goofball. They adored the grandkids.
Lol dogs do such strange things, it makes me wonder what in the world is going through their heads!
Don't worry. Some of her viewers will do it for her.
It is refreshing to have someone who doesn't immediately start blaming people.
Wow! What a difference in his coat after the shampoo and conditioner. You have the patience of Job! That was an incredible groom!
He shed a whole other dog during grooming but he waswell behaved another coat saved thank you Vanessa.🇬🇧🇬🇧🐾🐾🐾🐾🐺
Gibbs me my freedom!!! ❤ Aww. He complained but he was such a good boy. And so handsome when he was finished. 🥰
The blep at the end( 32:32 ) with the pile of floof is just too cute.
This is a process I would like to see. How they process or spin the hair into the yarn or thread used to make the sweaters.
I was thinking about what a nice pillow his shedded hair would make...
When I saw the comments on how much they shed, my first thought was, "I wonder if you could spin that?" Great minds!!
Nowadays we call it chiengora. People mostly prefer samoyeds for it. Never thought about using a Keeshond.
I haven’t had a Keeshond but I had Akitas. We did make pillows and other things from their undercoat “floof”. - very sort and hypoallergenic.
Patience, professionalism and persistence! What a fantastic job you (both) did!!!
What a face expression he had when Vanessa started singing like a Disney princess 😍 Adorable: both things
Total Pocahontas vibes, right?!
Sedated? 9 yrs old? Holy heck…can’t imagine what a wiggle butt he would have been fully awake and with puppy vibes!
He has always kept his puppy side. I thought he would mellow with age.....that has yet to happen. If he wasn't named after Gibbs from NCIS, he would have been called Lucifer as I was into that show shortly after I got him as a puppy.
Reminds me of my service dog, she's all working line poodle and while she's super sweet she never lost that puppy attitude off duty 😂
Hardly a puppy at 9 years old
@@melaniekendall4903Age is just a number in both the human and animal world.
(I'm constantly in and out of the hospital and life support and she's a "this is my only human" type of dog so naturally she has some wild anxiety having witnessed her handler nearly dying and having to use a panic button system for her)
But she's almost 10 and grooming her is a terror not because she's aggressive or anything but because she hates standing still and like a puppy, prefers to have fun having you chase her around especially as she leaps out of the bathtub cause she hates water despite being a poodle... 😂
9:23 when the trazodone hits 😆
Also having a lil coffee break together was so wholesome. Im so glad youre able to take these grooms at yours and the dogs own pace and not have to rush!
I’ve had two keeshonds. They are aloof, very lovable, loyal, and yes, dramatic!!
So glad you didn't have to shave him ! He's adorable, you did a great job ! I'm a previous Keeshond owner, I love those dogs
What a handsome, fluffy boy. He did very well for his spa session.
Yet another superpower of Vanessa: not losing her spoken train of thought when her voice is being drowned out by **all** the songs of the dog's people. Sung simultaneously.
Love that the owner has his number, "he's going to freak out for a minute at the start of the bath but then he's fine" lol yup
What a talker, showing his displeasure. He is a beautiful Dog!
That has to be the most spectacular before and after ever.
Through the whole drying process I kept thinking " oh i can see his skin! Yay! He's going to look so amazing when he's done! " And he absolutely does. ❤
Gosh! That is one beautiful dog, especially his face! Wonderful job as always Vanessa, love him!! 😊
I have had 6 Kees! Ilove the breed! They are very sweet and good natured. I always brushed mine at least once a week and a bath every 8 weeks. None of them were thrilled with water.
So cute!! Look at that little smiling grey face with the happy hoodie on! 😍
Fluffy Storm cloud on the loose ❤❤ He is gorgeous Vanessa. He looks incredible bc of you. Wow, what a transformation and his teeth are really healthy for his age. ❤
Thank you for saving this dog's coat, Vanessa! He looks like a floofy thundercloud in the end!
He is SO CUTE!!! I'm glad the owners realized they needed help before the matting passed the point of no return.
I love seeing the owner's reaction!
I had a female Keeshond when I was a kid. She absolutely loved when I groomed her. She was such a sweetheart. Loving loyal family dog, absolutely loved the snow. ❤
Sweet dog. So sorry for your hand surgeries. Many prayers for your healing. 🙏🏼♥️🙏🏼
Adopting is a lot more ethical, I wish your lady is healthy and stay that way a long time
Thank you for adopting❣️. 👏👏
@@kellykat8057I hope you don’t have to make that rain bridge Devin any time soon. She’ll come to understand what you’re doing is helping her.
What a cute hairball!
He's looking like a dustmop during his blowdry. 😂
I know it has to be so loud for you but I LOVE when dogs “sing the songs of their people”!
New breed to me. What beautiful dog, great you were able to help
He did great considering he hasn't been groomed in 9 years!! What a champ!!💜💜💜
He's been groomed just not by a pro. His owners did really well with him
What a beautiful dog! Dispite the mats, his owner has done a pretty good job keeping his coat! ❤
Such a beautiful breed and avid water lover.
compared to that ragedoll cat that Keeshond is a treat
That was one spicy floofy floof of a kitty wasn't it!!!??😂 😺
"ragedoll" 😂
Awesome. Love the way you love them, not condemning them for doing what they naturally do, feline or canine.❤
What a fluff ball. You did so good on him, so patient. I felt bad that he had to stand for so long.
What a handsome boy,, he was a likeable assassin 🥰🥰
His face reminds me of a fox face. 🦊 Beautiful boy!
I was thinking the exact same thing!!
Even half way through and he looks so much better.
For 9 years old, he's got really nice teeth.
I noticed that too
He does! The owner really must take great care of him!
@@traci506 then why didn’t they bathe him?
@@Anna-fx8vy She said that the owners do bath them at home. But owners aren't pet groomers. Without the proper tools and know-how, home baths can only be so effective for certain dogs/breeds/coats.
maybe the owners are old?
I have owned two Keeshonden and absolutely adore the breed! Max and Sharni were loving and sweet companions. Yes they made noise and barked but only if there was a need to alert me of something they felt was a problem...they didn't realize that I didn't mind the possums or galahs. What a beautiful boy is Gibbs.
My dog hates water. He’s a King Charles spaniel so we bathe him in the sink and I hold a spoon with peanut butter on it. Works every time!
I've smeared peanut butter on the side of the tub! It's a good distraction. 😂
You may already know this, but there are these wall mats that you can stick on the wall of your tub and spread peanut butter on it. They're great! 🐕
You could but the peanut butter in a blob on the side of the sink?
Aww my cavalier absolutely loved water. He looked like a seal whenever we let him swim with us when we were out on our boat, and he was singing every time we had him in the shower. He was the best boy. We lost him a year ago and it had been so weird without him.
This dog has the most beautiful face and coloring. The coat and all the different colors. ❤❤❤❤❤
Hi, there. You do such a good job and are so kind and wonderful to the dogs and the cats. It's unbelievable.❤
Hi... from Canada!
Hahah the little tippy taps he does while drying his feet and legs. 😍
As a horse person I'm always amazed of what is considered a lot of work with dog fur. I have an extremely hairy and feathered horse, takes me at least 1 h to groom every day. However, I do it gladly and both me and the horse enjoys it. Its quality bonding time.
That really is a beautiful dog.
Gibbs did so well during his groom, especially for his age and breed. So glad he got to keep his beautiful coat.
He's so beautiful. Wonderful job you did Vanessa ❤
I have said it before, and I say it again, you are the best groomer I have ever seen. Wow, what an amazing result 👏
Absolutely stunning 😍 ✨️
Schnauzers strangely don't shed and have the softest fluffiest coats imaginable. Not all long haired dogs have problems.
Ironically in my experience, my allergies are triggered far worse by short coated breeds.
Verses

Amazing before, during & after. He's a handsome older gentleman ❤& again- as always- you did an amazingly great job Vanessa 👏🏾👏🏾🥰
I had 6 Keeshonden who were all wonderful dogs. I was fortunate to have a breeder tell me how to maintain their coats and never had one get this bad but I am so very happy you were able to save his coat ❤. They really are a great breed 😊.
Blowing out the coat without the beekeeper hat? You’re brave.
I love his sweet face! The cute smile with the crazy whiskers! Adorable 🥰 ❤
i am honoured to have this video on my feed 5 minutes after it was published (this is my record :3)
I have known one and he was such a sweetheart.
Vanessa you are the absolute consummate professional groomer. I adore you and how you handle all of your clients.
Well done on a challenging client. You stood your ground and he succumbed to the torture. Well done!!
3:35 the water is lava to him. He’s so cute. ❤❤❤
