That last event was practically impossible tor Lalas. For everyone else it was just a deadlift and step, but for him he had to row it back at the end of each lift. Back in the 80's they used to height adjust some events for guys like Franco Columbo.

Cannot believe Lalas is only 5'10'' at 320 lb. Being a "little'' guy among the strongmen, he wins my respect. The power stair is too hard for him. Maybe, I mean maybe he should wear some lift in the shoes on this event. In deadlift you want to take off your shoes. But in power stairs, it seems to me bending down is not the problem here.

Well ronnie coleman used to bench 225kg, deadlift 365kg and squat 350kg... for reps. They don't do it all the time because it leads to injury and the can achieve same results without going so heavy, but that is not to say they aren't capable of it. If you don't think that those weights are heavy, there is something wrong. They aren't as strong as the strongmen who train directly for strength but they are very strong especially compared to your average joe.

It's a shame that heights make such a big difference in specific events whether it's being taller and having to lift weights higher, or being shorter and having a disadvantage on stairs, keg throwing etc.

Sort of like Boxing, in the US people think white's cannot box because in the US it's demographic is Latino's and Blacks but in Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Ireland, and various places through europe there's a lot of great champions along with amazing Asian's that sprout out from time to time and of course arabs like Khan or Naseem. I'm pretty mixed with Jewish, Irish, chechen, dagestani, italian, german, czechoslavok.

It isn't a pound for pound competition. It's a brute strength competition. It doesn't matter how much you weigh as long as you are strong enough to compete.

are you implying they should make adjustments for height,..then again shorter people physiologically have more power due to shorter muscles...for certain events i think adjustments are appropriate
