I, like Barbara Leftwich am learning so much from your excellent tutorial, it is like a meditative exercise . I am 81 this week and am so grateful for the wonders of the internet enabling us all to get together as if we lived next door to one another.
Hello Esther, I am so very grateful for all the work and patience you put into this project for us :-) I never had any difficulties in any row other then me not concentrating ;-) Such a beautiful and easy to follow work - Thank you for all your effort and love :-)
We should call this round 'Route 66' ...I've told my hubby and children not to disturb me for a few hours !! Esther you have the patience of a saint and I couldn't have made this Mandala without you xxx
It's all in a Nutshell Crochet I didn't find round 66 as difficult as I expected...although the wool got tangled up a few times which was annoying. I think doing Sophie's universe first was really useful xxx
After reading some of the comments, I was really nervous about row 66. I also was so fearful about the "mistakes" that were commented on. To my surprise, I had very little problem with the row.. and found it to be pretty simple once I got it down. As far as any mistakes.. I found none!! My stitches ended where they were suppose to. Thank you for making these videos, Esther, you are such a wonderful teacher with a calm and soothing voice :)
I look forward to following along with you every evening, before I sit down and do my crochet thing while watching TV. You are such a huge help, actually a (God/Sent) for getting me thru this. I have done crochet since I was 6yrs old, but this is a whole new adventure, so your help is essential. By the way, I just turned 82yrs and it is so wonderful to learn all of this new detail, which I wasn't aware I still had to recall. Thanks so much from hot Southern California....
OMG ... Row 66 was a marathon! Has taken me hours over a weekend to get it finished but I can absolutely guarantee I would not have managed it without your expert guidance - again - Esther. Thankyou so much as I would have hated to get this far into this mandala and get stuck at this section. Onwards to row 67 now ... hoping nothing will be that complex or time consuming from now on. Haha.
Esther... You are a saint! Row 66 was killing me. 😵 I figured out 💡that I don't skip a stitch after the 11th popcorn after I frogged the row 4 times.. lol I should have known (had a blonde moment) 😂 Just want to Thank you so much for having the patience to teach us this amazing pattern! 💗 I know I wouldn't have been able to do it without you! Much love from Michigan USA! 🇺🇲💓💞
Esther, you say the cutest things!! Quick and dirty? LOL I have watched all your video's and I find myself repeating many of your expressions. One of them is "take them all off in one go"! Hubby ask me where I hear that and I told him.....Esther!! LOL Thank you for this video and oh, I must agree with the other poster, it's nice to hear your cat. It makes the video more normal. I don't think any of us has a totally silent surrounding when we crochet. Always a crash, a barking fur baby, hubby coming in and asking for something or kids popping in while we are counting. So keep the background noises. LOL Hugs and have a great day!!
only found this by chance and had to get started straight away!!!!! I have just done Rd 68 of the mandala so great to have something different to granny squares. Can I use ordinary 4 ply yarn as finding the cotton yarns expensive but beautiful? Thank you for sharing this it's wonderful.😘
I didn't find round 66 hard at all. I got it right off the bat no problem. Thank you for these great videos!! I only been crocheting 2 months and took this on and am so glad I did. Your an excellent teacher. Thanks again hope to do see some different style mandalas done by you as they are so addictive!!
Beautiful. All the videos are great I can't wait to start this . I love how every stitch is explained. Great pattern and I love that your using a smaller hook so it lays nice and loops are not losey gosey.
Thanks for your videos! The projects are beautiful! I did want to say that on the long stitches, what works for me is to pull down on the bottom of the stitch after the first pull-through-two-loops. This puts the slack in the yarn into the stitch itself and the top loop looks normal with no looseness!
If not for these videos, I would not have been able to get to this point, so I thank you! However, I think there may be an error in the video. I was one stitch short before the corner in Round 66 and could not figure out why. After watching that part of the video several times and counting my stitches, I finally consulted the written pattern and found a discrepancy. The written pattern shows no skipped stitch after the very last V before the corner--the fpdtr is made, then 2 hdcs follow and 2 sc, then the chains. In the video, the skipped stitch IS included after the very last V, but when I skip that last stitch, it throws me off and I can't make the last sc. If this was already posted somewhere and I missed it, I do apologize!
if you really want to know.. ssshhhh, secret.... I missed skipping one stitch behind on one of the earlier repeats so that is why there is one stitch extra it seems like. I skip this stitch on purpose to get everything lined up again, but don't mention anything about it (also on purpose) so as not to get people all confused. most people don't even notice so well done to you for looking so closely. make a long story short: if you stick to the pattern it all works out.
Thank you so much for your videos ! It helps me a lot and it's just as if I was crocheting with a friend beside me ... and it's also like a lesson of english (I'm French !) and I really like your voice ! ; so : MERCI MERCI MERCI !!!
Finally made it this far and so far so good xx thankyou for making these easy to follow videos. The way you explain every step is so helpful and your work is beautiful. Fingers crossed I make it to the end. 💖 xx
OMG At 23:08 mins You said 10 times in total so I only did 10 repeats of the V with the bobble and now after 2 days of work will have to take it all apart as when I reached the next row I realized I was not getting the required 69 dcs ! There are 11 repeats total 😫 But I frogged everything and have started over with the intention of taking this opportunity to improve my repeats ❤️
It should be 11 times and not ten times like she said in the video though, correct? 😅 that’s what I’ve been stressing over. I have extra space fr Only doing ten like what am I doing wrong 😭
At the beginning of the repeat Esther does say 10 times, however, when you continue to watch the video once she completes the 10th V/popcorn there is space left and she continues to make one more; also good to count number of stitches before ending a repeat like that
I did the same thing!!! I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting 69 dc's per section on round 67. Now to decide whether to rip out hours of work to redo or squeeze in stitches to make the numbers work??? I'm going to bite the bullet and rip it out. I'll feel better tomorrow 😌 PS Thank you Esther for every stitch and soothing word. 💘 Your videos truly bring magic to my hands and joy to my heart. ❤
Dear Esther! Thankbyou for all 9 parts, I hav successfully finished them 🙂❤️ Very clear, to the point! I know these upcoming rows are going to kill me 😁 But I am going to go through them! wish me luck 😁❤️❤️❤️
I am very grateful! I can keep reminding and not miss a thing. Lol stitch. Very nice. And do you have a Facebook page that I can show you mine? God bless all who reads and like comments.
I just to say thank you for your videos this far! You really explain good! I would lever be able to make it this far if it wasnt for tour videos. So keep posting 😍
This is my second Mandala Madness....I have 2 daughters and can't play favorites. I just want to pass on a tip that when you are working with the two yarns if you take a second and untwist your yarn after every one of the eight repeats you will never get a big mess of yarn. It takes time but saves time...and aggravation.
Row 66 is not fun. This constant change of color. It’s taking me hours to finish this row. Thank you for your videos. I couldn’t have done it without them.
Volgende keer even beter luisteren, hihihi😄.
For row 66, I had been skipping 4 stitches from row 65 not 64 so I kept having one less rep than I needed! I've yet to try the way you did it but I'm sure it'll work. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this. IVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH THAT ROW FOR 2 DAYS
I have watched the video for part 10 but I'm a bit confused as to the location of the stitch marker. When you start round 65 I see it you place it in the SECOND sc of the beginning of round 65 (the first sc being made in the 10th stitch of round 64) and at the end of row 65 it clearly appers to be in this second stitch. But when round 66 begins it looks like it is now in the very first sc of round 65 i.e. the one made in 10th stitch of round 64. Consequently I am not sure where I need to put the first stitch of round 66. I havent seen that anyone else has got my problem so I must be midunderstanding something. Please could you help me out.
Hi Pauline, Yes, you are right that I moved the stitch marker between the start of round 65 and 66. The reason for this is that I used the stitch marker only to mark the start of the round so that I would not forget to go one round up in the pattern. I understand that you are using this stitch marker to make the first stitch. At the start of round 65 my marker is in the 2nd sc worked in the round, and at the end of round 65 it is in the 1st; like you observed. I'm sorry that this caused you confusion. If you move your marker to the 1st sc worked as opposed to the 2nd you should be fine.
Thank you for your explanation Esther. I watched what your hands did and copied and it worked! I'm now bracing myself for round 69 but having mastered round 66 successfully I feel like I can tackle anything now :-) p.s. I see this has appeared under a different name. Reason for that is that my original question was written via my phone where I wasn't automatically logged in to my youtube account. But Pauline Prent and Miremrow are both me.
Hahaha I don't even read comments so I don't initiate a round fearful but guess what, I'm reading, meaning that I've already spent hours trying to figure it out and still no resolution.. I feel your words, deeply😅
Hey! I’m very happy with this mandala, yes it took me a while to finished round 66. In this next one round 67, are you skipping every other chain? It looks like but you don’t mention it… can you or any one let me know. 🙏💐💓@it’s all in a nutshell crochet
I love your cat, I think he or she is looking for some camera time! Thank you for all the hard work, I really enjoy the videos, they make life so much easier. Patrese
I am on row 66. I put stitch markers when doing the fptdc. Somehow when I count two stitches which should align with my marker, it's off. I can't seem to figure it out. Any suggestions? Thank you.
I solved my own problem. I put stitch markers on round 66 to make sure I went into the right stitches which I wasn't doing. It's coming along fine now.
I’m having a very hard time with rnd 66. All my rnds are correct. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I’m making a parasol to put in our fair. I’m frustrated.
I’m on round 66. In the video, you state that there should be 10 popcorn per section but mine needs 11. I found in the file I downloaded, it also said 11. Now I’m wondering whit impact this will have on the rest of the project. Any help would be much appreciated.
Merry Christmas Esther! I also would like to say that I really enjoy this Mandala Madness video's, and also I don't think I would have got this far too, thank you for doing a terrific job with the video's, I love them and I look forward to watching and crocheting along ! Also is there a place to post a picture of my progress so far? I am using crochet thread size 10 and a steel crochet hook size 2
Hello, I'm on round 66 and I believe I found a discrepancy. When you finish teaching us how to do the FPDTC / Popcorn / FPDTC, you clearly tell us to do it 9 more times - total of 10 times. I made ten and noticed there were more than 4 stitches left (2 HDC / 2 SC) at the end before chains. It looked like I could make an 11th one. Thought maybe I did it wrong so I frogged the whole thing and did it again. Same situation. Then I went to written pattern, where again you say ten times, but in looking at the picture of row 66 I count 11 of them, not 10. ???
when doing row 66 I made the 10 popcorns and fpdtr posts. but I had quite a few stitches left enough to do 1 more popcorn with fpdtr. plus the 2 x hdc and sc with one stich left over. I counted and double checked my two previous rows and I have the correct amount of stitches. I don't know where I've gone wrong. I use these videos and have the printed format for this CAL. please can you help tia debbie xx
I'm sorry, this pattern is too long ago for me, I would have to dive back into the pattern. You can best contact the designer, she knows her pattern best, I only made the video tutorials. www.crystalsandcrochet.com
Hi Esther, on round 66 and the 11th v popcorn, you say to skip a stitch after the last fpdtr. However the written patten doesn't say skip a stitch and when i don't have enough stitchs left to skip one... but i do if i don't skip one as the written pattern says. Can you clear up for me which is correct?? This may be confusing for others too x
Not sure if anyone else noticed but In the 2nd stitch of round 68 you are saying single crochet in the half double but you are doing a half double. Just saying incase anyone else hasn't noticed.
round 66. 25:24 has an error. I've been pulling my hair out , redoing, recounting .... i finally consulted the written pattern . you don't skip a stitch.... "fpdtr in same st [R64] beneath popcorn forming a V, use colour 1 to complete st, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts, ch 2, sc over next 2 ch spaces together, ch 3, sc over next 2 ch spaces together [R64 and R65], ch 2.*'
oops! Sorry! I love your videos! i didn't realize i was yelling. Im so embarrassed. I only put caps because i don't think italics was available. Please forgive me. Can we hug it out? Thank you for all your hard work and you really really are invaluable . I could never do this without your soothing voice.
i am only human and make mistakes sometimes. it's ok, not mad at you :) always use the written pattern as the videos are not meant to replace the pattern but are an addition to it.
I had the same problem but I didn't redo anything because it's too complicated round. For the first time I checked the written pattern and it says not skipping a stitch after the last popcorn and V. That's the way I solved this problem already. How come you still have 5 stitches left after completing the last V, Esther?
ok, found you answer below, but please make a correction box in the video where you say that no skipping after the last V. Of course I understand that this little mistake is nothing compared to the huge work you have done creating these wonderful videos. Thank you!
Also, I wanted to ask how long will this helpful tutorial be available? It has been over 100 degrees, here in So. Calif., and I may have to put my crochet down until the weather changes, as it is just too hot..... But, I don''t want to miss out on any of your instructiions, even though I do have the written instructions, as well. So, when you get a chance, just give me a head's up on the schedule for your program. Also, at one time I did see a donation link. Is that still available, and where might it be. I think you deserve more than just compliments..Thanks in advance for an answer...
keep your finger on the loop that is closest to the end of your hook and make sure that this loop cannot move in any way. Then complete the stitch as normal and you should be ok. So only release your finger from that loop on the last yarn over when finishing the stitch.
I like this tutorial, but it is confusing, that in round 66 you guide to do the popcorn stitch-thing 10 times although it is 11 times ( and there are 11 too in the beginning picture). You say you do one more after the 10th repeat though, but for me it wasn't clear, that this was the 11th popcorn. Could you note this in the description for new watchers? I think it could be a bit frustrating otherwise because you think you have done something wrong because there are so many stitches left...
May I ask - at the beginning of round 66, do I start it by making SC into the the 10th stitch made in round 65 or into the 1st SC of the same round (where we were told to leave the stitch marker to marker) ? I tried both ways - but neither way really works. If I start it by making SC into the 10th stitch, then the popcorn stitch ends up in the wrong place and wouldn't align with the 2nd DC from round 64 (or should I say the 5th stitch, not counting the SC made into the 10th stitch), if I do it the other way, there's one stitch missing at the end of the repeat. Also, both the pattern & video tell us to do 10 flowers but there's 11 flowers in the photo instructions and I also have space for 11 flowers. I'm quite lost here, I'm not a pro and it's difficult for me to improvise. I'm positive that my stitch count on all the rounds leading up to round 66 was correct, I made sure of that before I started it. I enjoy making the flowers but there seem to be some discrepancies in this round.
There are 11 flowers, the pattern says to repeat 10 more times. So that is the first flower and then 10 more, coming to 11. You continue round 66 where you ended round 65.
Ya I figured that out about the number of flowers, even tho the video says to make 9 more, 10 in total. But I'm still not any wiser in which stitch to begin. In round 65 we're told to put the stitch marker into the 2nd SC, which is the one after the SC into the 10th stitch and which should help us to mark the start of the round 66. However you move the stitch marker between the shots to the 10th stitch and it's unclear where the actual round starts. Does it start in the 10th stitch or the 1st one?
the stitch marker is just to note the start of the round, nothing else. Start round 66 by working a sc in the first stitch of round 65. See video at minute 14:15
But that's not the first stitch, that's the stitch we did into the 10th SC isn't it? The first stitch of round 65 is the following one, the one we marked, as put in the video- 'the one in the middle, so that we remember where round 66 should start.. God I'm confused... I don't know what's preventing me from understanding this bit :)
please contact the designer if you wish to translate the pattern. I only made the english tutorials. you can contact the designer on www.crystalsandcrochet.com
If the video does not work for you, please use the original written pattern by the designer on her website. The video is only a support and does not replace the pattern.
I must be going crazy because I've listened to the first part of this video three times and she shows us part 63 which has 47 DC. Then she shows us part 64 that has 49 DC but first we do a SC in the row before. After that round, she says we are going to do round 66. What happened to round 65??
Nothing. If you dont find the video helpful, please use the original written pattern by the designer on her website. The video is only an aid, it does not replace the pattern.
I can't read patterns but I've been crocheting 50+ years. I figured the pattern out. I just don't need to listen to the row number because that is what confused me. It's slow, but I've got it going. Thanks.
I, like Barbara Leftwich am learning so much from your excellent tutorial, it is like a meditative exercise . I am 81 this week and am so grateful for the wonders of the internet enabling us all to get together as if we lived next door to one another.

That is a marathon session!
Wow, such a section.... incredibly I finished part 10... It took weeks and it seemed endless.
all things come to an end, also difficult part in a crochet pattern :D
Esther - you're a saint! What a row!!
oops - watching 66...
It's a hard one, i know :)

Hope you enjoy making your mandala :)
I just to say thank you for your videos this far! You really explain good!
I would lever be able to make it this far if it wasnt for tour videos.
So keep posting 😍
will do
Trebles are tricky...triple trebles are trickier...triple trebles two together twist tongues. Repeat three times before you may continue.
yes, sounds familiar :D
You forgot the front post... front post triple treble two together😂😂😂 😲 I am glad I am following it, not saying it😂
I've finished round 66 💪💪💪😁
well done!
Thank you for the tips
Row 66 is not fun. This constant change of color. It’s taking me hours to finish this row. Thank you for your videos. I couldn’t have done it without them.
happy to help
Volgende keer even beter luisteren, hihihi😄.
wow, finished!! great job, thank you Esther !
still got a few parts to go, bit this was a hard one
For row 66, I had been skipping 4 stitches from row 65 not 64 so I kept having one less rep than I needed! I've yet to try the way you did it but I'm sure it'll work. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this. IVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH THAT ROW FOR 2 DAYS
round 66 is the hardest of the entire pattern i think

I'm now bracing myself for round 69 but having mastered round 66 successfully I feel like I can tackle anything now :-)
p.s. I see this has appeared under a different name. Reason for that is that my original question was written via my phone where I wasn't automatically logged in to my youtube account. But Pauline Prent and Miremrow are both me.
take it slow and you will be fine on row 69 :D
I will never forget round 66, it took me 8 hours...
Yes, sounds familiar :D
Oh god, I am just starting . I hope I won't need that long but I definitely have to spread it out over a few evenings
Esther, I love all your videos You have the best ever. I'd follow you to the mooooooooooooooon. Thank you so much for the pleasures you have given me.
Heehee, luckily I am not going to the moon :P
celebrated my birthday by doing the beautiful row 66:-)
Happy birthday. Hope it is a wonderful day :D
thank you with all my heart
you're welcome
I love your cat, I think he or she is looking for some camera time! Thank you for all the hard work, I really enjoy the videos, they make life so much easier. Patrese
Yes, Jack "helps" a lot :D He is always stuck on my lap when I crochet :D
I am on row 66. I put stitch markers when doing the fptdc. Somehow when I count two stitches which should align with my marker, it's off. I can't seem to figure it out. Any suggestions? Thank you.
I solved my own problem. I put stitch markers on round 66 to make sure I went into the right stitches which I wasn't doing. It's coming along fine now.
good to hear that it's working :)
I have done this as well when crocheting other afghans. You look ahead this way to where your hook is supposed to go.
Thank you again...so beautiful...
It is a lovely design :)
Merry Christmas to you too

And wow, such thin thread, what a Chalange!
The video never replaces the written pattern
@@Itsallinanutshell Yes, but even the written pattern says 1o - it's only looking at the picture that I found 11.
when doing row 66 I made the 10 popcorns and fpdtr posts. but I had quite a few stitches left enough to do 1 more popcorn with fpdtr. plus the 2 x hdc and sc with one stich left over.
@@Itsallinanutshell it's OK I've figured it out with the help of the comments from other people. thank you x
I have put your answer through google translate and i'm not quite sure what you mean. Do you want to know where you can buy the yarn that I am using?
Hi Esther, on round 66 and the 11th v popcorn, you say to skip a stitch after the last fpdtr. However the written patten doesn't say skip a stitch and when i don't have enough stitchs left to skip one... but i do if i don't skip one as the written pattern says. Can you clear up for me which is correct??
This may be confusing for others too x
the written pattern is always in the lead.
Not sure if anyone else noticed but In the 2nd stitch of round 68 you are saying single crochet in the half double but you are doing a half double. Just saying incase anyone else hasn't noticed.
sure, no problem.
And thank you so much for the videos I honestly haven't had any issues thus far this is truly my most awesome work so far I can't wait to finish it!
Helen, I think that the correct number of popcorns is 11 in total, not 10.
Helen designed the blanket, I, Esther, made the video tutorials. It is possible that I made an error. Please refer back to the written pattern.
Did you figure it out is it 11 or 10?
It is 11. 10 plus she does one more to show how to finish that round.
round 66. 25:24 has an error. I've been pulling my hair out , redoing, recounting .... i finally consulted the written pattern . you don't skip a stitch.... "fpdtr in same st [R64] beneath popcorn forming a V, use colour 1 to complete st,
hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts, ch 2, sc over next 2 ch spaces together, ch 3, sc over next 2 ch spaces together [R64 and R65], ch 2.*'
You don't have to shout at me. If you don't like the videos just use the written pattern
oops! Sorry! I love your videos! i didn't realize i was yelling. Im so embarrassed. I only put caps because i don't think italics was available. Please forgive me. Can we hug it out? Thank you for all your hard work and you really really are invaluable . I could never do this without your soothing voice.
i am only human and make mistakes sometimes. it's ok, not mad at you :)
always use the written pattern as the videos are not meant to replace the pattern but are an addition to it.
These videos will stay online indefinitely.
You can support my work on my blog: itsallinanutshell.com/over-2/donations/
Thank you for your kindness :)
So the first time I did have 12 v things. But I know I'm only supposed to have 10. I do have to keep rewinding lol. Thanks so much!
Come si fa a fare i punti alti tripli o quadrupli ecc. stretti? Il primo anello mi si allarga, grazie
keep your finger on the loop that is closest to the end of your hook and make sure that this loop cannot move in any way.
If the video doesn't work for you, please use the written pattern, which is always in the lead.
@@Itsallinanutshell I did this, but I think of people who can't handle a written pattern and prefer to watch videos.
Omg I should have read your comment. Did you keep it at 10 or 11? I would the read the pattern but I have not idea how to download lol
I'm working on round 69. Bit is it normal that my mandala goes waving? It forse not stay in plain
the mandala curls at this round, yes.
Thank you very much. I really enjoy your tutorials
Is this the final part of the mandala because I was wondering if I can make this into a circle?
There are 18 parts in total. The final design is round, so you can just keep following the pattern :)
+It's all in a Nutshell Thank you.
You know what? Just work the stitches, and fudge if you have one stitch left somewhere. Seriously, it will be fine.
Perché mancano i sottotitoli?
After completing this part doing 10 popcorns I've found out I should have done 11 😢
Exactly! Just commented on this big discrepancy myself.
Gibt es die Anleitung auch auf deutsch?
please ask the designer, i only made the videos. www.crystalsandcrochet.com
Me encantaría que lo traduzcan al español!!!!!
please contact the designer if you wish to translate the pattern. I only made the english tutorials. you can contact the designer on www.crystalsandcrochet.com
Or my god, lap 66 is costing me life itself /oh Dios mio, la vuelta 66 me esta costando la vida misma
yes, I know, round 66 is bad. Keep with it, and next round is better
If the video does not work for you, please use the original written pattern by the designer on her website. The video is only a support and does not replace the pattern.
Volhouden 😁
Thanks.
