Finally a common sense video UNCOMPLICATED about how to figure mold sizes. I LOVE that you used three different mold size examples. You're a gem! Now if you could do a video about how to formulate a recipe with percentages of fats & lye that we could understand. So far I get lost trying to figure out Soap Calc. Math is not my strong point.
Thank you so much. I am new to soap making and though i had a 2 lb mold and making 2 lbs of soap was not even accurate and had no clue how to calculate so i would not waste anything. Finally got my answer.
Great video very easy to understand thank you. Quick question what I want to make extra soap for a mold to decorate the top of the soap. Do I just increase the ounces I calculated for the mold?
Hi. Love your video. I am a newbee in soap making. Thanks for your help. I do have a question. Why do you multiply by .4 the first result? Thanks for your answer.
Need advice for designing 1.2 kg mold. I have customized my design mold- L (37.11cm) * W (5.50cm)* H (8.50cm) - inch(14.61*2.17*3.35). Math behind the building the mold - inch(14.61*2.17*3.35) * 0.4 (convert into oz) = 42.36 oz and then multiplied with 28.375 (42.36*28.375) for converting into grams; is that right way to get grams ? I would seek your expert opinion, how to build 1.2kg / 3.6 kg wooden mold. Soap Size that I thinking to make (8.5*5.5*3) cm; 12 bars 100gm. What should be the inner dimensions ? . I have taken - Water as percent of oil weight 21.81 % : Super Fat/Discount 4 % :Lye Concentration 40.0000 % : Water : Lye Ratio 1.5000:1.
You want to make that size be the inside of the mold. I recommend cutting the end pieces to that width, then measure the width of the wood, multiple that by 2 and add it to the length of the pieces you are cutting. Clamps really help to secure the wood after you glue and help to make it stay at a 90 degree angle
this is for the lbs of oil. I did realize this later after posting, sorry about that! I normally have more than fits in my mold for my piping. But personally, when making a low top soap I like to have a little extra. I pour it into an extra small silicone molds. that way I have little flowers for my shower.
This is the best and I mean the very best video on UA-cam on how to calculate soap molds I certainly appreciate you thank you so much
So, I’m definitely saving this video. FINALLY....someone made this process a bit clear! Thank you so much!👍🙂
where are you getting the .4 from to finish the calculations?
Girl you have earned your self a subscriber keep going and thank you again

Did you guys actually try this? I think this is to calculate oils

1 cubic inch of soap weighs .4 oz. so you multiply the total cubic inches of soap by .4 oz, and thats how much it weighs.
Thanks for the video and the math lesson. Great Tutorial, Keep it up
Great video thanks!!!!
what if i want to calculate the oil in grams rather than oz and Squared cm rather than inch. would the calculation be the same ?
OT, but I LOVE your shirt!

@@BoysenberrySoaps Thanks
Where does the 1.8 comes from? Thanks a lot
1 fluid oz of water is 1.8 cubic inches.
Wait- is this for lbs of oil or lbs of soap? Not the same thing
