    Your swatching strategy is impressive. I particularly like your stencil for the squares to speed things up. I fear I have too many inks to take the time to even swatch single colors (I had the best intentions, but it just died early on as I saw how much time it would take), much less blending charts. I do like having a stamp press to be able to tweak colors that aren't right on first impression.

    I only have two sets of CP minis and really want more, but I should take the time to do your swatching first. At the very least I should have a guide to the colors I own! And maybe I won’t “need” to buy so many more. I appreciate you showing ways to stretch our current supplies. I would never have thought to do this.

      LOL! This was meant to be my in-depth video of how to make them. Create a grid on your paper, and put the names of the inks in the rows and columns, then just fill them in - one row and one column for each, layering them up where they cross. I haven’t had my Catherine Pooler inks very long. I got some about 6 weeks ago, and just got more after the Stress Free Cardmaking Summit. I wish I’d seen this first, so I’d have more of an idea which ones to get. I stuck with all “party”, and got no “spa” colors. I just wan’t sure! I think I have about 28 now. During the Stress Free Cardmaking Summit, I heard you say a couple of your faves were Lime Rickeky and Flirty Fuschia, so I got those for sure! They are great, happy colors! I will have to watch this again and again! Thanks!

      @@craftingaplannedlifejoanna9291 I have been doing this for many, many years and have built up my collection slowly. I have tried many inks over the years, but really settled on Catherine's inks as my favourites quite a while ago, and built my collection from there. If you are just starting out, I would recommend one of the mini sets to begin with to see if you love the properties of these inks as much as I do. They stamp crisply, but they also work in so many other techniques - blending, watercoloring (so many techniques with water, since they are water-reactive). I have tried many of the inks of the big companies over the years and they are all good quality - they just have different colours and properties, so you can choose which ones work for you.

    Thank you so much for explaining this 🥰 Now I am thinking about how many ink daubers I need for this?

      LOL! I have one for each of my colours, but I think you could get away with one for each colour family. Thanks so much for watching!

      @@ardyth You have a dauber for EACH of the colors, even the "blended" colors? That's a lot of daubers. How do you keep straight which is which? How do you store them?

    Absolutely beautiful! Now do you sell the cards? Do they send you products free? I love to craft but let’s face it, it’s an expensive hobby. I’ve always wondered how to get free products. That is what teacher do.

      Most of my cards are donated to a seniors' home in town. It can be an expensive hobby, I suggest deciding on one technique and focusing there to start. I do not generally get free product anymore, but back when I was on Design Teams, of course, I had to have the product to be able to make sample cards. Not sure that this is really 'free' product, since designers trade their skill and time for it, but I didn't pay money for it. Thanks so much for watching!

      @@ardyth yes I donate mine too To different organizations. I started this to donate for cancer survivors like my mom and I then added veterans hospital workers nursing homes and I make a lot for my students too

    I wonder if it makes any difference which colour is laid first, like if A is over B, or if B is over A?

    • @ardyth
      @ardyth  3 роки тому +1

      I have tried that and not found a major difference once it's dried. But it may vary by combination of colours? That would be an interesting experiment! Thanks for watching!

      @@ardyth thanks, I'll certainly be trying this exercise, I'm more into die-cutting but seeing so many beautiful effects from stamp pads (beyond actual stamping) I'm looking to get myself a basic set. Excited and inspired! Do you have Patreon or Ko-fi?

      @@bordershader I do not have Patreon or Ko-fi. I do have a video of how to use inks to make your own coloured cardstock to use for die cutting. ua-cam.com/video/ZsdwP25GioQ/v-deo.html
