Andy, Thanks, I love to know what is coming. As an old Social Security retiree, it helps me plan my limited modeling expenditures.
Andy always brightens my day. Reminds me of good times spent at our LHS, Hares Art and Hobby. Pete, the owner and Dave the model guy were more than friends; they were family. Both are gone, now, as is the store. Watching Andy reminds me of all the Saturdays spent at the counter ogling new models we couldn’t afford, and the warmth and camaraderie we shared. Thanks, Andy, for bringing precious memories back of better times past, and better people. Marty
Love when you show new products. I have never seen planes so large. The Stuka interests me, my grandfather flew one in WW2. Thanks for sharing.
My late father was in the 1st marine USMC in the pacific. He had a friend he worked with at GM who flew Stukas in the war. They used to get together and tell some hair raising stories.. good stuff !
These two look incredible please keep showing these kind of videos
Really can’t wait to see that bike! The planes look amazing. Thank you for sharing them!
Thanks for review Andy.
I am so going to buy the Stuka, just what an iconic German plane.
Love the videos, plus love how large scale models seems to be making a come back, and prices seem very reasonable.
One thing to note on the hobbyboss FW190 is the amount of moving parts on them - very impressive indeed!
Great models. Even greater unboxing. More of that !! Thanks in advance.
Keep the previews coming.
Look like nice big kits.
Keep these type of videos coming Andy. They are great for the hobby. Allows us to see what's out on the market and get a sneak peek to what's in side
I really hope to see some of the builds on those 2 planes they look awesome
Thanks My Friend I Really Thank You For Taking The Time To Create A Great Show , Unfortunately In San Diego County Our Best Hobby Shops Are Almost Gone, As A Kid I Use Too Purchase Hundreds Of Dollars A Month , I Was A Very Lucky Kid And Collector Hope To Go To Arizona To Your Shop.🚔
Another great quick in-box look from you Andy :)
Andy, thanks for the sneak preview! The Fw-190 looks amazing.
I bought this a few weeks ago. Didn't know it was such a new release. But explains the lack of examples on the internet.
One thing about the engine. It is fun to build and detail and then gets locked away in the cowling never to be seen again.
What a cheerful energetic intro !
Just waiting for that FW to fall over... :O
I was on the edge of my seat.
lol
I was tapping my screen trying to bump it over!
Me too
and when he pointed his thumb at it...
great presentation Andy, some great kits to see.
mannn , those are neat , thanx for show & tell...nice
RJ
I always admire the stuka since I started collecting plastic airplanes circa 1962.
Thanks for sharing Andy
Andy as always from me in Portsmouth in the UK brilliant review and site :)
Huge scale! I wish I had a shop like that.
Loved the JU kit Andy will be looking out for it down at my local hobby store. Would like to see more videos like this one.
Love the previews. Thanks.
Great video
Thanks for sharing with us, can't wait !
Thanks for the sneak peak Andy :)
Thanks for the sneak peak, I've got to say i'm a little disappointed in the fw190, that scale should be loaded with detail, engine etc, but that JU87 looks fantastic, similar detail to the Tamiya 1/32 scale planes ,a 2 foot wingspan is very impressive!
awesome monster models😱😱 good luck if you aré going to build that planes!
Enthusiasm is infectious! can't wait to see all these new builds.... .soooooooooo about that Ducati??? :-P
I finally get to see you build a 1/18 aircraft
Really living the golden age of modeling. Spoiled for choice. Don’t build a lot of wingy things but the Stuka is on my to buy list.
I can't wait see the Stuka. Keep up the good work!
Great that it looks like you are going to build some airplanes, i have wanted that for a long long time
Two great Kits thanks
That JU 87 A Stuka looks really great a must have i think.
Wow, that FW 190 and Stuka are impressive kits but who has the room for those - HUGE !!!
That's a great reveiw of beautifully molded aircraft. I look forward to more kit reveiws. Me,I would buy the Stuka b. A tank buster version of Stuka would be great. Maybe the one flown Hans Ulrich Ruddell.
Thanks for the sneak peak!👍🏻
Jman👀
Andy, I hope you read this. Thanks to you I have improved my model making ability tremendously. Can you please make a short video on what paints and techniques to use on US INFANTRY 1944? Thank you so much for all your help and wisdom.
RE: THE FW190
For those of you who were never into collecting 1/32 0r 1/18 prebuilt vehicles back about a decade ago, from companies like 21st Century Toys, Unimax/FOV, or BBI, this is actually the kit version of the plane Merit International released at the end of last year in already-built form. This is merely the parts the factory workers get to assemble, box, and ship out. They have done this with a couple of planes since the companies I mentioned before went bust when the recession hit. Merit and a few other companies bought some of the molds from the Chinese creditors and re-released the more popular 1/18 stuff -- although without any of the crew figures the original toys came with.
This is at its heart a toy, albeit a very nice one and not some of that underscaled Chap Mei or G.I.Joe crap. The head designer at 21st Century - Roy Sutherland - wanted their toys to look as much like the real thing as a toy could get and they were all pretty nice. If you search places like largescaleplanes.com you can find a few guys using the old toys as bases for super-detailing.
So, you will find there is detail lacking in some spots, like the engine, but the shape and all should be pretty good and definitely something you can make nice as-is or go nuts with years of scratch-building. Like the guy who has almost replaced all the original plastic body of his 1/18 P-51D with sheet aluminum.
How would you guys feel if I told you that back in 2002-2007 when I was collecting these toys, I was buying them for $30-$40 at Wal-Mart and Toys-R-Us? Yes, a 1/18 scale Grumman Avenger for only $40!!! With 3 crew, folding wings, moving armament and a torpedo. Just like the FW190 Andy just showed you in the video.
You can't get that kind of deal anymore.
$150 is too much for what was shown in the video. That's a joke. The pre-painted and assembled "toys" were much cheaper. You could buy one of the toys and strip it down to do your own thing.
Yeah. I also loved their tanks - an 1/18 Tiger or Panther is just huge. They looked more like playable models than toys, perfect for those who wanted to own a few nice military models for display, but couldn't get full time into actual model building.
thanks andy
please, please do scale ship 1st. Been waiting so long for the making of scale ship either 1/700 or 1/350. Your step by step is helping a lot.
Andy you should build a Trumpeter JU-87 Stuka in one of your future videos! I think that would be awesome and a very popular kit choice.
Hobby Boss is the brand that Trempeter establish for over-sea markets. Basically they are the same company just like Infinity and Nissan. In the early years of HB, its procducts were much better produced compare to Trempeter's, but they are pretty much the same level of quality these days.
Nice scale..BIG !!!
At this rate, with these big scale planes, tanks and subs, Trumpeter/Hobbyboss some day they'll start doing 1/1 scale kits. :P BTW the relationship between Trumpeter/Hobbyboss/Wasan Plastics is one is the parent company and the others are subsidiaries, can't remember the hierarchy though.
I cant WAIT for that early Ju-87 kit! Oh man!!
love these videos! thanks Andy!!! Im buying that Stuka!!!!
I loved the Stuka. The FW seems a little low on detail for such a big scale. Kind of a blown up 1/48 scale kit.
Yeah a thumbs up for these videos
Trumpeter owns Hobbyboss, IIRC. They also bought out all the old Tristar molds, for example.
Trumpeter is pretty big now.
Thank you
they are beautiful
Yeah I have about a dozen 1/`18 prebuil;ts from China. Many were only $40 when released and the prices rose. The most expensive was the Avenger about$150. The wings fold well though.
Excellent
Love the Florida hat!
Between these kits and the 1/32 Bombers coming out I'll need to order model paint by the Gallon. I think Sherwin Williams already makes an RLM grey.
Be advised, if the Stuka kit is based on the original Airfix/Mpc molds expect many fit problems with the engine/ cowling areas. Cowling is way to thick to fit properly over the installed engine and mounts and as a result will not stay in position and falls off. But that was with the older moldings from the 70s. But really @ $150.00, it should fit like a glove. I bought my original for $15.00 USD in 1972 if I recall properly. $150.00 is absolutely outrageous.
Super vidéo Andy's Hobby Headquarters. Pour ma part je préfère le Junkers Ju 87 A.
Holy cow, let's get those planes built!
I had to take a break from the armor for a few months. Planning to build the 1/18 Hobby Boss FW 190A8. Cheers Andy
My goodness, Andy what big kits you have, where on earth would you put them once finish! 1/18 FW190 I’ed love to build it & one of my favourites, Ju87 but I will have to hold off for the time being actually with Christmas around corner 😁. Thanks for the heads up.
You can source scale tail markings to make it complete.
Would love to see that Wulf build in that paint scheme, you gotta build one of them. you should post a poll on which one??
I thought the R variant of the B model was the only version with drop tanks because they had to plumb the wing stations. Maybe there will be a conversion or second release of the B model?
Which one do you recommend in terms of quality? Trumpeter 1:350 Richelieu or Revell 1:350 Bismarck?
Impressive
Some aircraft yay!
Hey Andy, I got that panel liner wood grain thing working, but I have a model tank that has a "limp cannon", it refuses to hold at any elevation and instead just hangs there at maximum gun depression. Is there a way to stiffen up the cannon joint (without gluing it permanently)?
Andy, can you have a word with the folks at Tamiya and get them making a 1/32 Hawker Hurricane, BF 109 and FW 190. The whole world would love Tamiya to make these and add them to their other 1/32 warbirds. Cheers ;)
Tamiya release what Tamiya wants to release. It is something they are known for. Why they don't release certain aircraft has baffled people for years.
how does the trumpeter junkers compare to the old 1/24 Airfix version of this famous fighter?
Very nice reviews, As always. Your channel is very usefull, keep the good job : you're a dude !
Did you expect to present the Hobby Boss ship you have shown ? It looks like a very good model.
Best regards !
Jef from France.
I hope Hobby Boss make 1/18thscale P-51, I would be tempted to see if it could be converted to RC to make a Power Scale slope soarer, they are verging in that territory size wise.
Andy why do you never weather using oil paints or AMMO filters/washes?
Fingers crossed the Ju87 is a decent modern replacement for the rather ageing Airfix kit :)
I hope that Eduard is going to make cockpit detail kits for these ...
Oo Wow!
Just getting back into this part of the hobby after a few decades of being out of it. totally stunned by the variety and large scales of WW2 aircraft now available.
Noticed that these two German aircraft don't include swastika decals, I assume that's due to some sort of legal restriction? Are they available from other sources in this scale?
You can find 1/18 swastikas on ebay: "1:18 Luftwaffe new tail decals for your german aircraft"
This is leftover stock from 21st Century Toys, so not really new but new to you. They're from 2006, so hopefully still usable. They come as a set of 4 different meant for the Me262 and another 4 different - and smaller - set for the BF109 that 21st sold back then. As for 1/24, I imagine they would have some because of the Airfix kits.
Does that mean they someone made an Me-262 in large scale, like 1/18 or 1/24? If so, I am in SOOO much trouble ....
Model companies typically provide swastika. They are separated in half as you saw in 8:31
It's an easy task putting them together.
We were just waiting for that FW to drop onto the floor haha. I do think that these larger scale models do allow more detail....
I'd love to make the Ju 87A in Natiolist Spanish civil war markings!
dude i will watch the hell out of you building the 1/18 fw190
The airplanes are Nice like it andy love your channel like like grt from holland Ninja Jedi Master
Nice kits and again my money of the month is going down hahaha Modelkits / paints and other stuff for Models love this Hobby.
Really like your Videos im looking them when im painting and weathering my modells or painting them.
Hope you keep your good videos up and do more :)
Would be nice if you build a DORA EISENBAHNGESCHÜTZ is a really big Kit i bought it and yeah lets say its really really fun.
Best Regards from Germany
One's already been built in 1/6 scale, so I don't think Andy could top that. Wouldn't fit in the store, anyway.
Pls hurry up to build those kits they look so cool!
Love these Helps me decide to buy or not
The Fw190 is a rebox of the Merit/21st Century toys kit
Merit, yes, but 21st Century no. 21st only released the Dora during their existence. They hadn't even started design work on one, but they commissioned one just like they did for the Dauntless and Harrier they released earlier.
you're doing a better job than when you were the president of France. keep it up !
I like that Stuka. Any indication if Trumpeter will be releasing later war variants like the B2 in the same scale any time soon?
Great work. I enjoy seeing your work and tips on modelling. BTW the t-shirts look great I hope to order one when I am home after this deployment. Also I don't suppose you have or plan on making, the Academy Rok k2 black panther?
Mr. Andy, when will you tackle "painting (in full detail) the figures"..?
amazing kits, you cannot go wrong with trumpeter and hobbyboss... too bad that FW has no full engine detail for such a huge scale
you have to build that stuka, that looks great!
will there be any Fw 190 D9/13 or Ta 152 H1/C3?
I was hoping you'd go through the Seydlitz box as well.
Woooow, pls make that stuka with romanian markings and cammo
Can’t wait to see them release 1/18 scale B-52! Lol
