This is totally the jsi huey released a few years back prebuilt, I have some plans for this new kit version, gonna build a speaker for playing the soundtrack to nam, might build a separate speaker for the infamous huey sound as well, all in all I'm stoked to get more then one of these
What I don't get is, at this scale they could have gone for far more detailed kit with tonnes of detail and open/closed versions. It is almost not even worth buying and then scratchbuilding details. But at least it got great review ;)
This almost looks like the pre-built 1/18 Huey I purchased years ago under the "Ultimate Soldier" logo... think that's what it was. This isn't so much a model as a "toy" you can put together. I actually got 4 figures with mine. Just remembered, was from 21st Century Toys.
It was a huge kit when I finished it. No, it's not the most detailed, but it's 1:18, and it's the only one we're going to see for a long time unless one wants to spend a lot, lot more on ebay. It's an absolute delight to see on my desk with some GI Joes sitting in it. You can make a troop carrier version and at least two different gunship loadouts.
You can tell who the super-dooper-scale-modellers here are, a very sad lot, in these posts anyway..........it's a great kit, with the size few modellers want, and that makes them more unique! Proper painting and smoothing out the seam lines sees this kit as more than just a 'toy you put together''. Have built the HB ME262, Sabre and the 109 in this scale, and they turned out really nice. Lets face it, the people who don't like this probably just don't like the sheer size of these HB 18 scale kits and the lack of room they have to display them. Stick to your super detailed 144/72 scale stuff. Good, honest review, thankyou.
well, the problem is not the kit itself, problem is the quality you get for such price. I don't think it is the right thing to support such products. :)
Kinda noticed the same thing; not very impressed. Dragon did the same kind of thing years ago; took jeep, Kubelwagen and some other vehicles that were originally made for 12" figures (G.I. Joes!) and made kits out of them. They may have tweaked them somewhat but were essentially "toys", not dedicated models.
@@dsv that may be ok. 1/16 and 1/6 are scales usually used for "action figures", haven't seen any in 1/24 scale yet. We all know that we don't play with our models once built....😁
I'd do a flying hospital. Red cross. From my father in law's service in Veitnam. Blown out of a fox hole a hundred yards away. He tried to get up and shoot back and got shot in his hand. Died 3 times on the way back to the aid station or hospital. And thus survived. He recovered enough to want to go back and serve. But to no evale my wife finally got her congressional approval for him to get his benefits ! After she became an adult ! It took all that time for him to work his whole life. When his country should have taken much better care of him. Anyway. The mortor round that blue him out of his fox hole opened up his right leg from just below his waist down to his knee. Just above the knee. And he has been very bitter about all that. Understandable so. That's the reasoning behind a medicvac chopper ! By the way. He hates me for taking his daughter away from him ! ! Or so he thinks. Lol. A very good man !
Thanks for the review, I take it as a warning. That´s quite a disappointment. The details on this kit are even worse than on the ancient and rather basic Monogram 1/24 Huey which I´m currently building, I wasn´t expecting this. If you want a nice, large Helicopter try to get that one instead - if you want an accurately detailed one, get the 1/35 kit from MRC.
I preordered through Squadron and have yet to receive it. I'm reconsidering my decision. This kit doesn't look as good as I was hoping it would be. The look of the instrument panel alone was disheartening.
ahahaha, better cancel your order and spend it on something more interesting. This kit looks really strange for its own size and definitely would require a lot of work. ;)
I bought it but never realised it was the ex merit ex ultimate soldier toy as a kit it's awful! Back in its box it went and to the back of the stash! Just one of them thing's! Going to take alot to scratch build details! Don't thing Eduards going to have a 1.18 PE set out? Haha
@@dsv oh yeah no doubt! Abit of masking tape should work for the belts or some of them new resin water slide one's that you glue on if any that size, I was looking at Eduards for the HK models B17 £60 UK yeah think I'll be leaving that haha!
As big as this kit is, from what I can see here, the level of detailing is rather lacking. Access panels on the exterior look to be thicker than armour plate! Rivets even for 1960s airframes look bigger than table grapes! The dials on the pilot's instrument panel are so oversimplified as to belong in a Barbie doll nurse's station playset. From what I have seen in person of Hobbyboss's other kits, they have the capacity to create far superior molds. It is as though they used CAD/CAM to scale up a 1:72nd-scale kit.
Thanks for the review... you saved me and a lot of other people $85 plus... What a huge 1/18th scale disappointment. The detail's are terrible or I should say lack of details... where are the pod mounted 50's? The rocket pods are terrible. Let's not even talk about the size of the rivets or the instrument panel. 110 part count? A model this size should have at least 300+ parts. Sorry all, you can't put enough lipstick on this "Hog"

Now that's an interesting idea! It would be a badass speaker to have on the shelf :)

I agree on that, hence me doing review in order to show everyone that it is better to choose something different ;)
thank you for watching.
Next model from Hobby Boss: ME-109 F3 *1/1 scale*
ahahaha, and still not fully detailed :D
BF 109, no such thing as an ME 109
Thanks for the review. You just saved me some money. I was thinking it would be a lot more detail and of much higher quality.
Glad I could help! :)

oh, now it is more understandable. Well, shame on HobbyBoss for producing such poorly designed kit... :/
Still interesting...but too large for me...
Yeah It looks exactly like the ultimate soldier Huey that’s What I was thinking it looks super like it
It is. I have both and they are identical.

yeah, I guess there won't be any other brave manufacturer to go into this scale :D

Former 21st Century Toys mold.
Needs figures I think. Something to complete the scene
you are right, figures would be handy too :)
All HobbyBoss 1/18's seem to be disassembled toys
Kinda noticed the same thing; not very impressed.

what about 1/24, did you try their Stuka? I am wondering if I should do a review with that kit :/
@@dsvthe rest seem to be bonafide, even the "easy kits"

I am glad this video was helpful for you :)
You need glue for this model?
Yes, it should be assembled with glue :)

when are we going to see the assembly and paint?
this year, I guess :D

Is it 1/16 or 1/18 ?
it is 1/18 as written :)
GI JOE Mould ?
looks like it :)

I think it was RC kit before, and they just decided to do it as scale model as well :D
What a wasted opportunity. Thanks for the warning.
you are welcome :)
big dissapointment...Eduard has fucking more details in 1/144 than this kit in 1/18
yeah, well, at least now we all know :D
Omg.

Какой то акцент как у русского. ты русский что ли?
Выглядит грубо для такого масштаба, как танки Heng Long
ну так они по ходу все свои крупные модели решили делать таким образом 8/
